Wall to Wizards....is anyone paying attention?

To say that the NBA Draft doesn't quite get the buildup that the NFL does would be a huuuuuggggeeee understatement.

Sure, it's actually somewhat entertaining. There are always trades and this year is no different, there are a lot of teams making deals for guys they've never had play and guys they don't want playing for them. But there is very little drama.

We knew that John Wall was going to be the first pick. There was never a question. He's now part of the Washington Wizards, who we still don't know how ended up with the first pick. There is little question that he'll be a star. No, the only question is how is he going to mesh with our good friend Gilbert. Yes, none other than Agent Zero himself.

Also to the surprise of no one, Evan Turner of Ohio State went second to Philadelphia and despite their denials, New Jersey took rising sophomore Derrick Favors.

Evan Turner makes for some March Madness...

If anyone had any questions as to why Evan Turner of Ohio State is one of 2 favorites for College Basketball's player of the year award, they were answered this afternoon.

Turner, saved his team from an upset at the Big Ten Tournament with what can only be called an incredible shot from oh...40 feet or so. The 3-point buzzer beater gave the Buckeyes a 69-68 win over Michigan.

We don't know how long this low quality video will be up before the 4-letter word pulls it, but enjoy it while you can because it is quite impressive. And no, the original will probably not be made available for those of us who report on Sports in blogstyle.

College Basketball 09-10: Big 10 Conference

Looks like the Big 10 may have its mojo back. None of the league’s upperclassman tested the NBA waters and returned to school. What does that mean? Lots of floor burns and black eyes because every Big 10 game will be a fight plus the race to the Big 10 title will be a war.

BEST TEAM IN THE BIG 10: MICHIGAN STATE

It’s a coin flip between Michigan State and Purdue but you have to go with the Spartans. They made it to the NCAA title game last year and despite 2 key losses still has the talent to make another final four run. Michigan State does return the reigning Big 10 player of the year in Kalin Lucas who now takes on a leadership role in the backcourt. Lucas is big time. You know Michigan State will have big bangers in the paint commanding the boards and the Spartans have that especially with incoming Freshman Derrick Nix in the mix. Nix is 6-9, 290 pounds and was Michigan’s Mr. Basketball a year ago averaging 15 rebounds per game.

BEST PLAYER IN THE BIG 10: Evan Turner – Ohio State

Talk about a workhouse, last year Turner lead the Buckeyes in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals. Turner did it all last year because he had to. This year with Jon Diebler, William Buford and a healthy David Lighty he may not have to wear the Superman “S” the whole time however, Turner’s definitely the Buckeyes go to guy. Turner could be collecting big checks in the NBA but decided to stay in Columbus for a Big 10 title run.
