Kurt Warner Retires... Is Canton Next...???

Surprising no one, really, Arizona Cardinals QB Kurt Warner hangs it up after being one of the most prolific passers of his era.

Warner took two franchises, the St. Louis rams and the Arizona Cardinals, and put them on the map- picking up a Super Bowl championships along the way.

The biggest question now is: Is the 2-time MVP a Hall of Fame quarterback...?

"Obviously, it's been 12 unbelievable years, some of the best years of my life," Warner said at his press conference. "But I want everybody to know that I'm just as excited about the next 12, that I'm excited about what lies in front of me. I'm excited about spending more time with my family, and seeing what God's going to do next."

Its been a great run for the former Hy-Vee grocery bagger, Iowa Barnstormer, and Amsterdam Admiral.He had been voted to five Pro Bowls and is the second quarterback to throw more than 100 touchdown passes for two NFL franchises.

Warner Still In The Cards

Kurt Warner is staying with the Arizona Cardinals, agreeing to a two-year, $23 million contract.
The agent for the 37-year-old quarterback said Wednesday the deal includes a $15 million signing bonus.

"We finally got it done," agent Mark Bartelstein told The Associated Press. "We're excited about that. I think it's good for everybody."

Warner has been with the Cardinals four years. This season, he led them to the NFC title. The Cardinals lost to Pittsburgh 27-23 in the Super Bowl.

A Super Bowl Is Finally In The Cards

There are certain phases in sports you just never expect to say. The Cubs are going to the World Series, The L.A. Clippers are in the NBA Finals and the Cardinals are going to the Super Bowl. Take the latter off the list.

Today the sun shines bright in the Valley of the Sun even though it is a cold day in hell. How else can you explain the Arizona Cardinals are going to the Super Bowl thanks to a 32-25 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game.

The Cards last championship came in 1947 when the Chicago Cardinals won the NFL title over the Philadelphia Eagles. Since the end of the 1940's the Cards have been such a laughingstock in the NFL that not only were they run out of Chicago, the team bolted St. Louis after 27 years in the Gateway city and nobody really gave a damn.

Now after 21 years of apathy in Arizona, the Cardinals have finally given their fans something to cheer about and were they delirious at UOP Stadium today.

Not only should Kurt Warner be considered for 1st ballot pro football hall of fame consideration, but sainthood. The man resurrected two pathetic football franchises and turned them into winners. Remember 9 years ago he led the St. Louis Rams, who had been nothing but dreadful, to a Super Bowl championship. Now the ultimate in reclamation projects, leading the Arizona Cardinals to the Super Bowl.

If the Cardinals win the Super Bowl, Warner should turn his attention to politics. Hell, he could solve the nations economic problem. The man just might be that good.

It's going to take time for this to set in, the freaken' Cardinals are in the Super Bowl.
