Lenny Dykstra is in even more trouble

Lenny Dykstra
((ht: huffingtonpost.com))

And just how far has the guy fallen?

Former all-star outfielder Lenny Dykstra, a frequent contributor to the "Athlete's with Legal Issues" part of our world, continues to pile on said "Issues".

This time it's a little warped.

Apparently, Dykstra is charged with Indecent Exposure after authorities learned hew was posting online ads looking for personal assistants or house keepers. He would upon meeting the women who applied, expose himself to them and told them the job required they give him a massage.

No, we aren't joking.

KTLA-TV has a good account of Dykstra's history, you can read it RIGHT HERE

It's sad to see what happened to the guy once called "Nails" though this could--potentially explain the current charge he is facing too. (Couldn't resist--sorry)

With all the other legal problems the guy is facing, jail time is probably on the way. He pleaded "Not Guilty" to multiple felony and drug charges back in June, so that trial is on the horizon as well.

Believe it or not, some producers tried to put together a "Lenny Dykstra" reality show. It didn't get very far, but here's a part of what it would look like (reducer1):

BREAKING: Dykstra Pleads Not Guilty...

Naturally...

Lenny Dykstra has pleaded not guilty in the federal case where he's accused of embezzling money from a bankruptcy estate.

Federal prosecutors are charging Dykstra "hid, sold or destroyed" more than $400,000 worth of items from an $18.5 million mansion without permission of a bankruptcy trustee.

He is being held in an LA County jail after California prosecutors filed grand theft auto and drug possession charges against him and two others about a month ago...

All the above breaker really does is give us the excuse to post the "HBO/Real Sports" segment again with Bernie Goldberg...

Dykstra Nailed On 23 Count Indictment

Lenny Dykstra was charged with 23 felony counts, the LA District Attorney's office announced including attempted grand theft auto and filing false financial statements for trying to lease cars with phony information. He has also been charged with drug possession since, apparently they found coke, ecstasy, and HgH in an April arrest in California.

Two other men, 27-year-old Robert Hymers and 30-year-old Christopher Gavanis, are charged in the auto fraud case along with Dykstra.

Dykstra also has a federal bankruptcy charge hanging over his head with claimed assets in the tens of thousands of dollars with liabilities in the tens of millions.

According to the D.A., Dykstra and the two others tried to lease expensive cars from different dealerships in Los Angeles by allegedly "providing fraudulent information and claiming credit through a phony business."

If convicted, Dykstra faces up to 12 years in state prison. Here's one of our favorite pieces that show what Dykstra has become today...

Nails Nailed For Embezzlement Fraud

Lenny Dykstra has been charged with embezzling from a bankruptcy estate.

Federal prosecutors in Los Angeles are saying that after filing for bankruptcy in 2009, Dykstra seems to have ditched, in one way or another, more than $400,000 worth of items from his $18.5-million mansion. They ranged from memorabilia to a $50,000 sink.

Dykstra claimed he owed more than $31 million and had only $50,000 in assets.

Who has a $50,000 sink...???
Jus' axin'...

Local authorities say he was arrested in an unrelated grand theft investigation and he remains jailed without bail.

For those of you who forgot what Dykstra has become...
Allegedly...

More Lenny Dykstra Evidence Of His Lack Of Scruples

The HQ has chronicled before how we both marveled and, then, laughed at both the bear and bull versions of Lenny Dykstra and his ability to pick stock winners...

Now, more evidence of his inability, silliness, and lack of winnerness is coming forward...

Randall Lane, over at The Daily Beast, has penned a new book that shows that Dykstra snowed even CNBC's Jim Cramer.

Getting $250K from a penny-stock company to pimp their product through his newsletter will do that for you. Dykstra also, apparently, said he would parade more small company CEO's in front of Cramer for them...

For a fee...
Neat...

The Lane story is required reading for someone who is, certainly, worthy of an SEC investigation at the first possible moment...

"Nails" Gets Nailed: Dykstra Files For Bankruptcy

((HT: ESPN))

Lenny Dykstra, the former star center fielder for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The 46-year-old has no more than $50,000 of assets and between $10 million and $50 million of liabilities, according to a petition filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Central District of California.

Dykstra's filing comes in the wake of more than 20 lawsuits he faces tied to his activities as a financial entrepreneur, including The Players Club, a glossy magazine for athletes he had helped launch in 2008.

According to an April article on ESPN.com, Dykstra put his net worth at $60 million, and also owned a black Rolls Royce Phantom and Gulfstream II jet.

Known as "Nails" and "The Dude," Dykstra played for 12 years with the Mets and the Phillies before retiring in 1996 with a lifetime .285 batting average, 81 home runs, 404 runs batted in, and 285 stolen bases.

He helped the Mets win the World Series in 1986, and as a Phillie was the National League runner-up to Barry Bonds in MVP voting in 1993. The Phillies lost the World Series that year.

Walter Hackett, a lawyer for Dykstra, said the event triggering the bankruptcy filing was a planned foreclosure sale of a southern California residence that Dykstra bought from hockey legend Wayne Gretzky for $17.5 million in 2007.

That's where Bernard Goldberg tracked down Dykstra for his June follow-up...

Dykstra is "in good spirits," Hackett said in an interview. "He understands now that bankruptcy is truly a protective act. I do expect that Lenny is going to emerge from Chapter 11, and make those people whole who have legitimate claims."

According to the bankruptcy petition, Dykstra's largest unsecured creditors include units of JPMorgan Chase & Co., owed $12.9 million, and Bank of America Corp, owed a combined $4.2 million.

Hackett said Washington Mutual, now part of JPMorgan, was the main lender on the 2007 home purchase, and that the bank misled Dykstra about his ability to afford the property. The lawyer said the bank deserves nothing on its claim.

JPMorgan spokesman Tom Kelly said: "We don't comment on individual cases, but we expect our customers to repay their legal obligations under their mortgages when possible."
