Those of us at OSG HQ thought the number would be somewhere in the middle for Mangino to go away. Consider that he had all the questions hanging over his head on the abuse allegations from former players mixed with mediocre results...

Mangino Resigns From Kansas

Early Thursday evening in Lawrence, Kansas KU Athletic Director Lew Perkins announced that Mark Mangino was no longer head coach at the school.

Mangino has been under investigation since mid-November for allegations involving mistreatment of players- including verbal and physical abuse.

Perkins said in a news release that the investigation was complete but that he would not release documents related to the review or the settlement that the two parties have reached because of legal reasons.

Three Mangino assistants take over head coaching duties.

“We appreciate the eight years that Mark has given to rebuilding our football program,” Perkins said in the statement. “He and I have reached a mutually satisfactory agreement that reflects the appreciation we have for his efforts on behalf of Kansas Football.

Mangino’s contract states that if he was for cause, he gets nothing from the remainder of his deal. If KU fired Mangino without cause, then Mangino would be owed around $6.6 million (the $6 million owed on the contract plus a $600,000 buyout).

Thus the settlement of somewhere in between...

This was, probably, the beginning of the end back in 2007...

First and foremost, what in the blue hell was up with the uniforms for both teams...???

Kansas broke out their Dairy Queen red tops with the blue pants...

Grant Ressel hit a 27-yard field goal as time expired, giving the Missouri the 41-39 win over Kansas at Arrowhead Stadium.

Missouri (8-4, 4-4) had 553 total yards, but needed a safety with 2:39 left and Ressel's fourth field goal of the game to beat its biggest rival and potentially end coach Mark Mangino's eight-year stint at Kansas (5-7, 1-7).

Danario Alexander caught 15 passes for 233 yards, the third time he's eclipsed 200 yards in four games, and Derrick Washington ran for 111 yards and two scores for the Tigers.
