Milton Bradley in trouble, should have played Stratego...

Yeah, it was a cheesy headline, wasn't it....

Seattle Mariners outfielder/DH Milton Bradley spent part of his day on Tuesday in jail. The reason--he was arrested on suspicion of making terrorist threats to an un-named woman. He was taken into custody at his home in Los Angeles, and released 7 hours later on bail.

This, if it amounts to a serious legal issue, would not be Bradley 1st brush with the law, though most of his issues have been with his managers and Major League Baseball.  Bradley was alleged to have had police come to his home in 2005 on domestic violence calls, but no charges ever were filed.

If this is indeed the end, Bradley will be known as one of the bigger enigma's in the history of baseball. He had a couple of very good years in LA, Texas, San Diego and in Chicago, but managed to piss off both teams enough that they were happy to get rid of him.

He got a huge deal to come to Seatlle. 3-years and $30 million and had done absolutely nothing for the Mariners. He took a leave of absence this past season to address personal mental issues, which is something we respect, but makes us wonder.

The Mariners are on the hook for $12 million for the guy this year and they don't expect him to start? Good luck trying to trade that contract. The team however, may try to void the contract depending on the wording contained in it.

Bradley, apparently, hasn't paid $15-grand a month on an apartment since October... totalling the above mentioned figure...

Milton Bradley Suspended For Season

By the Cubs... because he has a big mouth...one day after he criticized the team in a newspaper interview.

Bradley was disciplined Sunday for conduct detrimental to the team. General manager Jim Hendry says he decided to send Bradley home after learning of the player's remarks in the Daily Herald of suburban Arlington Heights. Bradley, scratched from Saturday's lineup due to left knee soreness, was quoted as saying "you understand why they haven't won in 100 years here."

Bradley, who was hitting .257 with 12 homers and 40 RBI, has two years remaining on a three-year, $30 million contract that he signed as a free agent last offseason. Hendry said he didn't know if the relationship was "fixable."

In the interview with Bruce Miles of the Daily Herald of Arlington Heights, quoth Milton Bradley:

"It's just not a positive environment. I need a stable, healthy, enjoyable environment. There's too many people everywhere in your face with a microphone asking the same questions repeatedly. Everything is just bashing you. You got out there and you play harder than anybody on the field and never get credit for it. It's just negativity.

"And you understand why they haven't won in 100 years here, because it's negative. It's what it is."

Asked whether he was talking about the fans, the media or even the Cubs organization, he replied: "It's everything. It's everybody."

Nah... he won't be coming back...

Milton Bradley sinks his Battleship

It appears that Milton Bradley's act is starting to wear a bit thin in Chicago. You see Mr. Bradley was kindly told to leave the game by his manager Lou Piniella who is apparently gotten tired of seeing his players take out there frustration on the teams water coolers. Piniella told Bradley to take off the uniform, pack it up and go home. The 2 apparently took the "Conversation" back to the clubhouse.

This just adds to the legend that is Milton Bradley...if he were only as beloved as the board games made by the company of the same name. Who knows if this will be the end, he isn't exactly lighting it up as a Cub...we can only hope that he sticks around, if for no other reason than for bloggers like us to have material to write about.

Milton Bradley's Bad Day

Okay...

You're a $30-million dollar outfielder prone to bouts of anger, confrontation, and general moodiness...

You're off to a slow start and not endearing yourself to some of the world's most devoted baseball fans...

Then, it goes horribly wrong all in one inning...

He loses Jason Kubel 's pop-up in the sun for a single, couldn't catch Michael Cuddyer's RBI bloop double, made a baserunning blunder and, most egregiously, flipped the ball into the stands after catching Mauer's one-out sac fly.

''That's life,'' Bradley said. ''These people have high expectations. I have high expectations for myself. I never made a mistake like that (losing track of the outs) in my life. Sue me.''

With Nick Punto on third, Brendan Harris on first, Bradley caught Mauer's fly, posed for several seconds and threw the baseball into the seats. As Punto scored easily to make it 6-3, Harris was awarded third base on Bradley's error as boos rained down from every section of the ballpark.

''It didn't cost us a run but you've got to be in the game, you've got to know how many outs there are,'' Cubs manager Lou Piniella said. ''Do we need to go over math? One ... two ... three ... I don't know what else to say. I'm sure he's somewhat embarrassed by it.''
Then again, maybe not.

''I wasn't embarrassed,'' Bradley said. ''I've done a whole lot of (other) things to be embarrassed about. The run was going to score and a fan got a souvenir. I just made a mistake. I guess I'll be in the bloopers.''
