Jag Off... Again...This Time In Tampa

((HT: Tampa Tribune/Richardson))

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced this morning they have fired offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski ((pictured, thanks Bob Hansen/Tampa Tribune)) and replaced him with quarterbacks coach Greg Olson.

Bucs coach Raheem Morris will have a news conference at noon to discuss this decision.

Jagodzinski was named offensive coordinator Jan. 29. He came to Tampa Bay after two years (2007-2008) as the head coach at Boston College. Prior to his stint at Boston College, Jagodzinski served as the offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers in 2006 and spent the two seasons (2004-2005) prior to that on the staff of the Atlanta Falcons.

Olson joined the Buccaneers as quarterbacks coach in 2008 and was retained when the team promoted Raheem Morris to head coach. Olson previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions in 2005 and the St. Louis Rams from 2006-07. He has also previously served as the quarterbacks coach for the Lions, Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers.

New Captain For Pirate Ship In Tampa

From Roy Cummings and others in Tampa, Raheem Morris ((pictured, thanks myfoxtampa.com)) is the new Buccaneers head coach and Mark Dominik takes over as General Manager.

Cummings article at tbo.com breaks down the Glazer family feelings:

"We have fundamental beliefs, fundamental beliefs that have been in our blood since we got here," Bucs co-chairman Joel Glazer said in explaining the firings. "Character is important; championships are important; having a franchise that the community can be proud of is important.

"And this is not to say that we were totally off the direction there. But that's what we believe in, and if you believe you've gone off course a little bit, then it's our job to pick it up and put it back on course."

Fox 13 in Tampa reports that Morris and Jon Gruden traded text messages Saturday.
"He told me to take this thing and roll," Morris relayed at the presser.

Initial word in Tampa, was not surprisingly, shocking...
