Davis Love III Named Ryder Cup Captain

Davis Love III has been appointed the next American captain of the Ryder Cup- one of the worst kept secrets of the week.

Love was introduced at Medinah where the United States will try to win back the cup from the European squad in 2012. Europe won the event last year in Wales and this week selected Jose Maria Olazabal as its captain.

"I'm thrilled. I'm thrilled to represent The PGA of America," Love said at the presser. "Thrilled to represent all of the men and women PGA professionals. As we have said a lot of times, there's not a Tour player out there that plays one Tour event or plays six Ryder Cups that doesn't have a PGA professional that led them to that position. So I thank all of the PGA professionals, including my dad."

The 46-year-old Love has played on six Ryder Cup teams, most recently in 2004 at Oakland Hills, finishing 9-12-5 and he becomes the 27th captain for the US in the event's history...

Okay, so the HQ knows that the US lost the Ryder Cup over in Wales early this morning. The European squad got the 14-and-a-half points they needed, and it came down to the McDowell-Mahan match.
