Terrelle Pryor having second thoughts about staying at Ohio State

It's been a tough last 6 months for the Ohio State Buckeyes and it doesn't look like their run of bad luck is ending anytime soon.

A report put out today from the National Football Post says that star Quarterback Terrelle Pryor, he of the tattoo incident and 5-game suspension to start the 2011 season, is having second thoughts about staying in Columbus for his senior season.

According to the Post, Pryor is weighing the option of entering the NFL Supplemental Draft. They say he's not sold on the idea...yet.

We think this may just be young Mr. Pryor getting antsy and realizing he's not going to be playing football for awhile. Considering all the problems the NFL is currently happening (See our Lockout/Strike series of stories), there's no guarantee that there will even be a Supplemental draft this year.

Unfortunately, Mr. Pryor....or his advisors are seriously over-estimating his future NFL Prospects. We've read numerous reports that say if he's going to have a chance at the next level, it will be at a position other than quarterback. We don't believe there is anything other than he's just not very good attached to that buzz, but we hope someone in his camp has heard this.

At this point, he'd be best served staying in Columbus and either getting his degree or getting closer to getting it, the opportunity to do that, will never be greater.

Tressel's E-Mails: Now We Know...Maybe...

Apparently, when tOSU head coach Jim Tressel acknowledged that the infamous/shot-across-the-bow e-mail warning was sent somewhere and his AD Gene Smith cut him off from any further details, we now know where they were sent...

An advisor to Terelle Pryor in his home town...

Ted Sarniak lives in Jeannette, Pennsylvania. He became friends with Pryor and had accompanied him on recruiting trips in the past. The university, however, will not identify Sarniak as a booster.

When asked by the Dispatch whether or not Tressel had passed the information in the e-mail to Sarniak, OSU officials said, "We are not discussing any issues relative to the case until it is resolved with the NCAA."

Of course not...

BREAKING: OSU RecommendingTressel Suspension For Two Games

In lieu of everything going on at tOSU, now The Sweater is not immune.

The NCAA has suspended Buckeyes head coach Jim Tressel for two games for "violating NCAA rules" to be served at the beginning of the 2011 season in games that may mean virtually nothing.

If Tressel knew of the "swapping memorabilia for tattoos" violations and did not report them immediately to the school's athletic director, Gordon Gee, or the university's compliance office, Tressel could be fired or face NCAA sanctions and penalties, including forfeiting the entire 2010 football season.

It's that whole "failure to monitor/environment of compliance" thing...

The NCAA will make the final decision on any punishment Tressel will receive.

TWTW Bowling: tOSU Breaks SEC Losing Streak In Sugar Bowl

The HQ placed a phone call to New Orleans early in the first quarter as the Buckeyes took a 7-nothing lead against the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Sugar Bowl.

We knew Brother Martin was in attendance ((pictured with HIS brother Mon-tee, thanks to Marty his own self)) and he actually got to see a good one. A game that tOSU seemed to win despite itself- and Ryan Mallett's poor fundamentals driving for the winning score in a 31-26 loss to Ohio State.

Solomon Thomas dropped into coverage and picked Mallett with under a minute remaining to seal the win.

At times, the Buckeyes had to play defense with freshmen out on the field since their depth was tested with injuries- both temporary and permanent...

Going into the game, Ohio State had lost its last nine games against the SEC dating back to the Sugar Bowl loss against Alabama in the year 1728...

You know...??? There was a Hall of Fame bowl loss to Auburn in there, too...???

It was a big game for the "Tattoo 5..."

Four of those Buckeyes made huge plays during the contest. DeVier Posey caught a touchdown pass and Dan Herron ran for a score as Ohio State built a 31-13 lead. Arkansas (now 10-3) raced back and had a chance for the win after a blocked punt turned over the ball at the Buckeyes 18 with 1:09 remaining.

TOSU Players Apologize Publicly, Sugar Bowl CEO Didn't Want Suspensions

The five Ohio State football players who were suspended for the first five games of the 2011 season came public today.

DeVier Posey was the only player of the five who announced that he would return for his senior season in 2011. The others didn't go there...

Posey, quarterback Terrelle Pryor, tailback Daniel "Boom" Herron, offensive lineman Mike Adams and defensive tackle Solomon Thomas were suspended because they received improper benefits for selling awards, gifts and university apparel- stuff they thought was theirs in the first place...

But ask Georgia wideout AJ Green about that whole idea...

All of the players are eligible to play in the Sugar Bowl against Arkansas on January 4th since the NCAA considers the game an exhibition.

A sixth player, Jordan Whiting, must sit out the first game of the 2011 season and pay back $150 for receiving discounted services. He did not attend Tuesday's presser, and no questions were taken by any other of the players on the dais.

Pryor has to repay $2,500 for selling his 2008 Big Ten championship ring, a 2009 Fiesta Bowl sportsmanship award and his 2008 Gold Pants, a gift from the university the team receives for defeating Michigan.

Herron has to repay $1,150 for selling his football jersey, pants and shoes for $1,000 and receiving discounted services worth $150.

Thomas has to repay $1,505 for selling his 2008 Big Ten championship ring for $1,000, his 2008 Gold Pants for $350 and receiving discounted services worth $155.

Adams sold his 2008 Big Ten championship ring and has to repay $1,000.

Posey must repay $1,250 for selling his 2008 Big Ten championship ring for $1,200 and receiving discounted services worth $50.

Those "discounted services" are the artwork on all of their arms and various other body parts- which look quite artsy, by the way...

WEDNESDAY UPDATE: Interesting angle out of Columbus Wednesday from Ken Gordon's article in the Dispatch...

From Gordon, quoting Sugar Bowl CEO Pete Hoolahan:

"I made the point that anything that could be done to preserve the integrity of this year's game, we would greatly appreciate it," Hoolahan said. "That appeal did not fall on deaf ears, and I'm extremely excited about it, that the Buckeyes are coming in at full strength and with no dilution."

Admittedly, his game has had a couple of dogs recently ((or is it Dawgs...???)) with the Hawaii-UGA game and the Cincy-Florida de-baw-cull...

"I appreciate and fully understand the Midwestern values and ethics behind that," Hoolahan said. "But I'm probably thinking of this from a selfish perspective."

Yeah...??? Really...???
Hoolahan didn't want any suspensions, and apparently, isn't get any suspensions...
The HQ still thinks Arkansas will run them out of the building...

TWTW: Purdue Can't Get A Coach Fired 2 Weeks In A Row

Terrelle Pryor threw for three scores, Dan Herron ran for two and that ended up to be five of the seven scores in Ohio State 49-0 victory over Purdue.

The Buckeyes, now 7-1 and 3-1, in the Big Ten/11/12 also got some measure of revenge for the 26-18 upset a year ago at Purdue.

Purdue, now 4-3, and 2-1, didn't exceed 100 yards in total offense until their final possession.

TWTW: Ohio State Survives At Illinois

The hearts of an entire sweater-vest rooting society went into their collective throats when Ohio State QB Terelle Pryor blew a tire in the Illinois game. He left for only a series and managed the game against the Fighting ((Redacteds))...

Ohio State went on a clinching TD drive in the closing minutes to win 24-13.

Pryor ran for 104 yards and was 9 of 16 for 76 yards and two scores through the air.

Illinois, now 2-2, got close with under 5 minutes to go, but Illinois head coach Ron Zook elected to kick a field goal on fourth down that made it 17-13.

TOSU then drove down the field- game over...
