Return of the Dirty Dozen and Your Bottom of the Barrel

You know it is the highlight of your college football season. It's the thing you anticipate the most. You're eager, anxious and a bit on the edge--because you know that it is coming.

Yes, that's right friends, it's the return of everyone's favorite segment. The best college football ranking system ever...it's none other than "The Dirty Dozen and the Bottom of the Barrel"--our look at the best, and the worst in College Football. Oh, and we'll give you some early picks for the week too.

With that in mind, we must re-introduce our characters in case you aren't familiar with the cast or movie:

So...to quote Kasey Kasem--"On with the countdown":

The Dirty Dozen:

1) Oklahoma 1-0. For now. We should know what they are this week. Thus far, they look the most complete and based on write-ups, they win this spot by default. This Week: at Florida State. Our Pick: FSU 34, Oklahoma 31 UPSET!

2) LSU 2-0. We also like the Tigers here. For now. They get this by virtue of beating the Ducks out of Oregon. Unless Jordan Jefferson returns this season, they probably won't stay. This Week: at Miss. St. Our Pick: Miss St. 27, LSU 23 UPSET!

3) Boise State 1-0. They won their biggest challenge. With ease. Short of a Kellen Moore injury, they won't lose this season. Face it SEC people, they are that good. This week: at Toledo. Our Pick: Boise St. 41, Toledo 17

4) Alabama 2-0. I'm not sold here, but they just keep winning. We still think they have more holes than in past years. Maybe we are right, maybe we aren't. This Week: vs. North Texas. Our Pick: Alabama 38, North Texas 6.

5) Florida St. 2-0. I like the premise of this team. It may be the best they've had in years down in Tally. We'll see if the choker label they earned the past few years sticks. It won't this week. Our Pick: See #1

6) Wisconsin 2-0. They always start strong. And then lose a game they shouldn't. I'm loathe to put them this high, but there aren't many options right now. This Week: at Northern Illinois. Our Pick: Wisconsin 41, N. Illinois 13.

7) Stanford 2-0. As long as Andrew Luck is there, they'll be a Top 10 team. Period. We aren't convinced they are better than this though. We'll find out soon. This Week: at Arizona. Our Pick: Stanford 34, Arizona 23

8) Texas A&M 1-0. They may soon be without a home, but they are SEC worthy at least this season. Ryan Tannehill is the real deal. This Week: vs. Idaho. Our Pick: Texas A&M 37, Idaho 10.

9)Oklahoma St. 2-0. An offensive juggernaut. Take that however you want. They can score. A lot. But they always can, it's just whether or not they can stop anyone. This Week: at Tulsa. Our Pick: Oklahoma St. 41, Tulsa 23.

10) Virginia Tech 2-0. They just keep on keepin on. A much better start this year, though they struggled with East Carolina last week. They and FSU are the class of the ACC, by a large margin. This Week: vs. Arkansas St. Our Pick: Va. Tech 37, Ark.State 23.

11) Nebraska 2-0. They haven't been stellar, but they haven't had to be. They've scored a ton, but haven't really been challenged. We like them in the Big 10 a lot, the rest of the conference may regret it. This Week: vs. Washington. Our Pick: Nebraska 37, Washington 31.

12) South Carolina 2-0. We may regret this. While they certainly can score, they haven't exactly stopped anyone yet. And they were lucky to win both their games. We will be surprised if they keep escaping. This Week: vs. Navy. Our Pick: S.Carolina 31, Navy 17.

The Bottom of the Barrel:

5) Oregon State 0-2. Losing at Wisconsin can be excused. Losing to Sacramento State, not so much. They have problems. Injuries and poor performances have doomed them. This Week: vs. Bye. Our Pick: Bye 31, Oregon St. 21(haha!)

4) Akron 0-2. Nothing "Zippy" about this team. They've sucked for years. And so far, they are ranked almost last in every category. Awesome! The Ohio loss run continues. This Week: at Cincinnati. Our Pick: Cincinnati 45, Akron 10

3) San Jose St. 0-2. Do you know the way to San Jose? No, neither do we. Though it appears that Dionne Warwick may be good enough to start for these guys. Anyway, unless you are old, you won't get that. This Week: vs. Nevada. Our Pick: Nevada 25, San Jose St. 17

2) New Mexico 0-2. Hello Mr. Locksley. You are truly the single worst coach in the history of college football. And there is now proof. 2-23 in the past 2 seasons. And it isn't going to get better. Though you have won a game...well 2. So you've got that to look back on. This Week: vs. Texas Tech. Our Pick: Texas Tech 48, New Mexico 13.

1) Memphis 0-2. Mike Locksley gives thanks to this team every day. Because they truly are college football's worst. And yet they don't realize it. Though they are supposedly active in conference realignment talks. Why? So they can drop to D-II? This Week: vs. Austin Peay. Our Pick Austin Peay 3, Memphis 2. (Note--anyone who attempts to watch this should have their college football fan license revoked--permanently!)

And there you go. We won't remind you of our consistent 75-plus percent success rate in picks over the past couple of years. At least not until next week. Until then...enjoy your football!

OSG Polls: The Dirty Dozen and Bottom of the Barrel: The Conference Champ edition

And that is why we come to the last week of this years Dozen. Sure, we'll do a bowl edition, but it isn't quite the same thing. It's been a fun year. Even if not too many folks actually read this, I have fun taking an hour out of my mornings to write it. This year, a year of some really strange happenings and a year, at least in our eyes...where there isn't one clear-cut, dominant Number 1 team.

Boise State did themselves in, others just faded. Either way the lords of the BCS are probably happy right now...unless Auburn and Oregon lose on Saturday. Hmmmm....

Since it is the holiday season, we think it's only fair to start with this:

And we'd be remiss if we didn't have our movie clip. The mission nears completion and not everyone makes it. See the thrilling conclusion:

Well, we didn't do so well last week, hoped for some upsets that didn't happen. 9-4 for the week, 131-29 for the season. We'll take that.

So to quote the great Casey Kasem: "Now, it's on with the countdown"

The Dirty Dozen:

1) Auburn 12-0. Yeah, they deserve it. The best comeback team in America. Sorry, NCAA ruling non-withstanding their season still has an odor to it. Cecil Newton basically admits he lied and he did try pimping out his kid for money. Mississippi State is probably in trouble, we wonder...still, if it is a matter of time before Auburn is in the same boat. This Week: SEC Championship: Auburn 35, S.Carolina 21

2) Oregon 11-0. It's in their hands. Win and you are in. The Corrupt BCS Championship game is there for the taking. They've done what is needed, but we still think they are a gimmick team. With a month to prepare, they can be beat. No Pac 10/12 Championship game...yet. This Week: Oregon 43, Oregon St. 21

3) TCU 12-0. On the outside looking in, but they'll be fine. They'll get a BCS game, the corrupt BCS has no choice in the matter. And they deserve it. This is a really, really good team. Next Game: Corrupt BCS Bowl Game

4) Stanford 11-1. The best of the "One Loss" teams. They've been really tough down the stretch, playing very, very well. In fact, well enough that they may lose their coach after this season. Yeah, Jim Harbaugh will be the next "It" coach. Trust us. Next Game: Corrupt BCS Bowl Game

5) Wisconsin 11-1. They finished on, well, a pretty good offensive roll. Sure, they are the best of the Big 10/12. The gaudy numbers the last couple weeks will seal that deal. Plus the 10 doesn't have a championship game for them to gag. Next Game: Corrupt BCS Bowl Game

6) Arkansas 10-2. This is where we drop a level. The Top 5 are the best 5 teams. They are better than anyone from here on down. Arkansas has rounded their game out a bit as the season wore on. Coach Douche' has done a good job, though the defense could use some work. Next Game: Possible Corrupt BCS Bowl Game

7) Boise St. 10-1. Try not to forget, haters, that if Kyle Brotzman hits a chip shot Field Goal and these guys are still undefeated and sitting at #3. We still think they are pretty good, better than the potpourri of Big 10/12 teams the Corrupt BCS ranks ahead of them. Hear me Gordon? This Week: Boise St. 45, Utah St. 21

8) LSU 10-2. The "Hatter" finally lost his mojo last week. This is a flawed team that Les Miles got the most out of and for that we applaud you sir. The question is, will the restless fanbase agree?. Next Week: Cotton Bowl

9) Michigan St. 11-1. We aren't totally impressed. They were lucky to hold off the "Joe Pa's" last week. Kirk Cousins is highly overrated. Still, we'll take them over Ohio St. Too bad the "Big 10/12" doesn't have a championship game. Next Game: Bowl Game

10) Oklahoma 10-2. Your enigma team. They probably should have been better than this, but we really aren't sure that is actually true. The defense has hurt them. A lot. But they got to the Championship game and really, that's all that matters: This Week: Oklahoma 38, Nebraska 37

11) Ohio St. 11-1. Yes, I know the pollsters love these guys. Yes, I know I hate them due to G.Gordon Gee...well, there are a few other reasons too. But really, they are overrated. They aren't that good. They'll gag in a close game. Trust me, I'm usually right. Next Game: Bowl Game

12) Virginia Tech 10-2. Somehow, someway, the survived a horrible loss to James Madison. They were easily the best of a really, really crappy ACC. They've gotten better as the year's gone by. As usual, they are solid, everywhere. This Week: Va. Tech 34, FSU 20

The Bottom of the Barrel:

We don't know what to do. Akron won last week. How can it be? They still are horrible, but they won with the pressure on. Damn them! I say!

5) Texas 5-7. They finish here due to being the NCAA's single biggest underachievers. We love it when a pre-season BCS pick tanks like this. It proves what we say about pre-season polls. They shouldn't exist. Well, we guess there is always next season when they'll be in the Top 20 again, trust me.

4) Buffalo 2-10. Wow, do they ever suck. How do you lose to Akron. Well, at least they can take solace in being in the bottom 10 of scoring....in the entire NCAA. Will they get better? We don't think so.

3) Kansas 3-9. How the mighty have fallen. Hmmm....We've got two teams from the "Big 12/10" here, wonder what that means? They just were bad. Bad in pretty much every category. We aren't betting on an offseason change either.

2) New Mexico 1-11. Okay, will the New Mexico State Legislature please spare the American College Football viewing public the pain of a 3rd year of Mike Locksley. Do you realize how much of a joke he's made you? Do you realize how bad your State's football is? Yeah, that's what we thought.

1) Memphis 1-11. We still think this is Karma. That's what Fred Smith gets for trying to buy this teams way into the Big East. Granted the East isn't such a great conference, but this is the worst team in Conference USA. By a large margin. The only question is will they be the preseason worst team in America next year.

This is what we think of when we think of the Memphis Fed-Ex'ers:

OSG Polls: The Dirty Dozen and Bottom of the Barrel: The Gordon Gee is a Turkey Edition...

G.Gordon Gee is a Turkey/Courtesy: osu.edu
Yes, like everyone else in the free, civilized world, we hope that everyone has a Happy Turkey....when they are happy, they taste better. Thank you very much, I'll be here all week.

We've finally gotten to the point where things are sorting out. No Cam Newton stories in the past week...and for that, we thank you.

However we are seriously mulling a "G. Gordon Gee is a Turkey" campaign in light of his asinine comments that Boise St. and TCU shouldn't be allowed to play for the "BCS Championship". Well, gee...Gordon....your school played Eastern Michigan and Indiana and Minnesota...they suck worse than anyone on Boise or TCU's schedule...so what does that say about your "Alleged Powerhouse"? And for that matter, both schools are ahead of any of your "Big/Mediocre 10 Conference teams"...wonder why that is?

In lieu of our weekly Dirty Dozen movie clip, on this holiday, we feel it important to remind you all of this important fact:

Again, thanks...we'll be here all week. Make sure to tip your waiters and waitresses.

Now, with that all behind us, we had another 11-2 week last week, making us 122-25 straight up this year. Not bad Gordon? Even if we play "Little Sisters of the poor"....

So with that we say "Gordon Gee is a Turkey" or on with the Countdown...

The Dirty Dozen:

1) Boise State 10-0. We've said it before we'll say it again, maybe Gordon will hear us this time. THEY ARE THE MOST COMPLETE TEAM IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL. Period. They would beat Ohio St. 10 out of 10 times if they played. Still, they'll get screwed because of narrow minded dorks like Mr. Gee. This Week: Boise St. 45, Nevada 23

2) Auburn 11-0. Good news: They escaped the bye week with no Cam Newton stories. The bad news, they play Alabama this week. At 'Bama. Yes, Mr. Gee, this is "Big Boy" football. Something they don't play in your conference. I'm going to get grief for this pick. This Week: Alabama 41, Auburn 39

3) Oregon 10-0. They were exposed vs. Cal. They do have a weakness if you can slow them down. I don't believe anyone in the PAC 10/12 is the best at anything. Though they could beat Gordon's Buckeye's....handily. This Week: Oregon 34, Arizona 28

4) TCU 11-0. They too could beat any of your Big 10 teams Gordon. Really. It wouldn't be hard. Look it up, your teams gag against every good team outside the conference they play. It's tradition. TCU is as good as anyone, though they too will get screwed and may not even get to play in a BCS game of any sorts...shows how corrupt the system is. This Week: TCU 112, New Mexico 0

5) Stanford 10-1. Despite what we said earlier about Oregon, we like Stanford. They are a really good team. Not the best, but this year, nobody is aside from Boise State. So by virtue of a lack of contenders, they get to be #5 on our list. This Week: Stanford 35, Oregon St. 27

6) Wisconsin 10-1. The best team in Gordon's conference. Any other season they'd be ranked around #10. But not this year. Hey Gordon, if they are so tough than why did Wisconsin play crappy San Jose St., Austin Peay and crappy UNLV this year? Strength of schedule? I'm waiting........This Week: Wisconsin 31, Northwestern 17

7) LSU 10-1. Proof positive that it's better to be lucky than good. They've done just enough to win all but one game and really, that is all that matters. And oh...Gordon, LSU would be the best team in your conference....by a really large margin. This Week: Arkansas 41, LSU 28

8) Alabama 9-2. Again, further proof that you just need to hang around to be considered. They are in an interesting place this week. They can't win a title...we don't think. But they could have a really big voice in who could. Gee, Gordon, you better hope they lose, cause otherwise Boise State will get to play for the title. This Week: See #2.

9) Oklahoma St. 10-1. They look to be the favorites to win the Big 12/10. Like it or not. If you want a "Little Sisters of the poor" argument Gordon, look at 4 of their first 5 games. The Fighting Gundy's couldn't beat TCU, Boise or most of the SEC West. This Week: Oklahoma 49, Okie St. 45

10) Arkansas 9-2. We've gone on record multiple times about Bobby Petrino's "Douchiness" but give him credit, he's a damn good college coach. Arkansas is very similar to his successful Louisville teams. Hey Gordon...just so you know, Arkansas would beat any team in your conference. This Week: See #7

11) Ohio St. 10-1. Okay, Gordon. Here is about where your "Team" should be. They are they poster boys for the non-SEC teams. Gosh, we forgot how much of a Powerhouse Ohio U. is. Guess you have us there. Good thing Michigan's defense is so good. Gordon, your a "Dumb Ass". This Week: Ohio St. 39, Michigan 28

12) Va. Tech 9-2. Because this affords us a chance to mock the lame ACC. Oh wait. They are a "BCS" conference. They would never play the "Little Sisters of the Poor". Gosh Gordon, they'd beat most of your conferences teams too. And Boise beat them. Hmmmm....wonder how that happened? This Week: Va. Tech 41, UVA 21

The Bottom of the Barrel:

Because of course, we know nobody from a BCS conference would ever be caught dead playing any of these teams. Right Gordon?

5) Buffalo 2-9. Where have you gone Turner Gill? Oh...wait, Kansas isn't much better either? Well, but they play in a BCS conference so they must be better. Anyway, these guys lost to Eastern Michigan last week, so that makes them B of B eligible. This Week: I think we've found our TURKEY BOWL--Buffalo 1, Akron 0.

4) Texas 5-6. Because Georgia non-withstanding, these guys are the single most disappointing team in NCAA football. Hey Gordon-did we mention that they played "The Little Sisters of the Poor/Florida Atlantic" last week. And FAU kept in close in the 1st half. This Week: Texas A&M 24, Texas 16

3) Wake Forest 2-9. This one is for you J-Dub. Your alma mater sucks dude. Bad. But according to Gordon Gee are more worthy of the BCS Championship game than Boise St. or TCU. Yeah right. And NBC will talk to a star from another network during the Macy's parade. Right. This Week: Wake Forest 0, Vanderbilt 0--A TIE!

2) New Mexico 1-10. The only team in Division 1 with a coach that has 2 career wins and the state won't buy out his contract. Guess they are doomed to suck for a very long time. Gordon, this might very well be Little Sisters of the Poor. Oh wait...TCU plays them...damn! This Week: See #4 in the Dozen.

1) Akron 0-11-- See Video--

This Week: See #5--

There really is nothing more than I can say here. I'm still trying to figure out why G.Gordon Gee would say what he did. It may be the stupidist thing I've ever heard. Although it may help bolster the Utah/WAC/Mountain West pending lawsuit against the Ass-clowns in the BCS.

Just because you have a bigger name school doesn't mean it is better. The Big 10, they've sucked for years. They can't beat anyone outside their conference, yet they are always in the Top 10. The SEC...at least this year is a bit down and the Big 12 has been awful this season. So where exactly is "Gordon's" argument coming from?

OSG Polls: The Dirty Dozen and The Bottom of the Barrel: Is it over yet?

This is officially the week that the College Football season seems like it is lagging. There are not really any "Major Impact" games. A lot of teams are off or playing the Georgia State's of the world.

We went on a limb a couple of times last week, but that is mostly because we favor the chaos theory of College Football. Unlike most writers/pollsters/smart-asses. We actually pay attention to what happens in games rather than just read a box score.

So, with that in mind, we move ahead to this weeks clip where the guys try and figure out how they are going to finish their mission. Sound familiar?

Last week, 11-2, though we goofed due to rushing to get this finished and New Mexico losing to the wrong team. They lost, and would've no matter who they played. Overall: 111-23 and we're damn proud that we don't pick the spread...

As Casey always says "And now, on with the countdown"!

The Dirty Dozen:

1) Boise St. 9-0. Yes, I know I dropped them last week. My bad. They've been the most consistent team this year and really, they deserve a shot at the title. But they won't get it. Sad, yes? This Week: Boise St. 43, Fresno St. 17

2) Auburn 11-0. I just feel dirty saying this. As long as Cam Newton is playing, they win. Or at least have a really good chance at it. Thought UGA had a shot at them last week...but Mr. Newton said "No". Still have this nagging feeling "They got some splainin' to do". And yes, the defense still isn't very good. This Week: BYE

3) Oregon 10-0. Me thinks they may have been exposed last week by Cal. They won, but barely. And the offense was stagnant. We don't think they'll stumble either. But we don't think they are going to win the National Championship even though they'll be in the game. This Week: BYE

4) TCU 10-0. They also have a legit argument in this "Who's the best?" debate. But the name and conference works against them in the BCS Empire. Unfortunate because I think they could beat at least 2 of the 3 teams ranked ahead of them. This Week: BYE

5) LSU 9-1. Long live the "Mad Hatter". He's got a really, really bad offensive team in position to at least be in line for a BCS bowl game. They've moved up through attrition, but hey, isn't that all it takes? This Week: LSU 17, Ole Miss 13

6) Stanford 9-1. This is a pretty good team. They, for the most part, have taken care of business. And they'll more than likely end up in the Rose Bowl. Not bad. Look for Jim Harbaugh's name to surface in almost every NFL job opening this Winter. This Week: Stanford 31, Cal 21

7) Wisconsin 9-1. Ok, dropping an 83 spot was impressive. Even if it was only Indiana. They appear to be the best of the Big 10/12. But, they always lose games they shouldn't. It wouldn't surprise us if that happens before the end of the season. This Week: Michigan 31, Wisconsin 27 UPSET ALERT!

8) Nebraska 9-1. They've been the most consistent team in the Big 12/10. Except the week Texas managed to beat them. The games have gotten closer as the season has gotten later. That's something to be concerned with. This Week: Texas A&M 38, Nebraska 33

9) Okie State 9-1. They can throw. And they can score. And they can't stop anyone. And they still have an outside shot of being in the Big 12/10 title game. This week will help their cause. This Week: Ok. State 52, Kansas 31

10) Alabama 8-2. Hmmm. 5 Days removed from taking care of Miss. State. Solid, but they seem to be lacking the spark of last years team. Don't know why. Maybe they've tuned out the great Saban? Maybe the great Saban is growing weary of staying in one place? Hmmm....This Week: Alabama 41, Ga. State 7

11) Arkansas 8-2. Because I refuse to put another Big 10/12 team in here. Refuse! They always let me down. Always! Plus Arkansas ain't bad. And I have a brother in law that lives there. So ha! This Week: Arkansas 33, Miss St. 21

12) Ohio St. 9-1. Now, whomever I put in this spot, always loses. It happens every week. So I'll put them here. For some reason the national press and computers love these guys. Me, I can't figure out why. They are oh, so dull and mediocre. Maybe it's the coach? This Week: Iowa 29, Ohio St. 21

The Bottom of the Barrel:

An aside here, as I'm thinking of this song before doing the list:

5) San Jose St. 1-9. They almost won last week. That's why I was thinking of Nick Lowe. Strange...ain't it? Thankfully, their season is almost over. This Week: Hawaii 45, San Jose St. 21

4) Eastern Michigan 1-9. They statistically aren't a horrible offensive team. But then there is that whole turnover issue. And lack of defense. And coaching. And well, you get the picture. This Week: Buffalo 47, E. Mich. 38 STINKER ALERT

3) New Mexico 1-9. Sure, they won a game...and climbed up...and almost out of the barrel. But then, they showed their true colors last week. And are working back down. This Week: BYU 48, New Mexico 12.

2) Memphis 1-9. A truly not clean city and a truly stinky football team. They really haven't been close to beating anyone except when they somehow managed to beat MTSU early this year. Wonder if Fred Smith will by Tommy West a plane...so he can fly out of town...after he gets fired? This Week: UAB 38, Memphis -3 (Yes, minus 3)

1) Akron 0-11. Well, at least the city always has LeBron...oh...wait. Never mind. They are lucky the season is almost over. Believe it or not. They are almost statistically the worst team...in every statistical category this year. And they are our pick...as the loveable losers. They played Wednesday, so I can't pick them to lose...which I would have, and they did. One more game until no more football...Hooray!

As you can see, all the good teams are off. They bad one's, not so much. See if you can do better than me. Tell us your picks and your top...and bottom teams.

OSG Polls: The Dirty Dozen and Bottom of the Barrel: The no Cam Newton rumor version

Well, it's been a pretty interesting week in college football now, hasn't it? Rumors and dirt are flying all over the SEC. People are wondering if college players are getting paid. Dogs and cats are living together....Mass hysteria!

And on the other hand we are starting to believe that the two best teams in an otherwise mediocre season may very well be the two outsiders: Boise State and TCU. Before you SEC maniacs jump in here, sorry, your best teams have flaws...big ones. Neither of these teams do.

So, with that in mind watch as one of our heroes...Maggot goes...a bit off the deep end, though we suspect it's not because of all the Cam Newton Stories.

And with all of that in mind, last week, a robust 11-2 (didn't have the guts to pick LSU) and that makes us 100-21 on the season. Take that VEGAS!

So without further ado. It's on with the Countdown!

The Dirty Dozen:

1) TCU 10-0. Okay, yeah. I said it. I'll be the one going out on a limb here. This is your best team in College Football. Prove me wrong. Come on! I dare ya! This Week: TCU 41, San Diego St. 17

2) Auburn 10-0. We are continually amazed at the stories coming out about Cam Newton. He may or may not be guilty of anything, but he and/or his family ain't smelling too good here either. The Auburn fans won't admit it though. (Sorry Patty). When Auburn and Georgia meet, the away team usually wins. Yeah, I'm going to go out on a limb here. This Week: Georgia 43, Auburn 41

3) Oregon 9-0. Sorry, I'm not convinced the fighting Nike's are the nations best team. They'll finish the regular season undefeated, but with 3 weeks to prepare, a team with a good defense and ball control will beat them. Trust me. This Week: Oregon 47, Cal 21

4) Boise St. 8-0. They need to be patient. They are one of the two best. But they won't play in the BCS Championship game. The BCS won't allow it. A one-loss team will be put ahead of them. Mark my words.  Don't know which one, but it will happen. This Week: Boise St. 45, Idaho 13

5) Stanford 8-1. They are a pretty good team that unfortunately is lost in the shuffle because Oregon beat them. Solid all the way around. They are a very good West Coast team, how that translates nationally, remains to be seen. This Week: Stanford 34, Arizona St. 21

6) LSU 8-1. We are going to put the Mad Hatter's team here, but we don't believe they are this good. I mean have you seen their offense. Horrible. They got lucky...and a bit smart against Alabama but a Top 5 team, that doesn't always make. This Week: LSU 31, La. Monroe 3

7) Nebraska 8-1. Folks, this is your best Big 12/10 team. Deal with it. They ain't great, but they are good enough. They do what is necessary to win. This Week: Nebraska 41, Kansas 17

8) Wisconsin 8-1. It's killing us to put a Big 10/12 team here. They so often disappoint. We aren't even sure this is the conference's best team. Thankfully, we can change our mind next week. This Week: Wisconsin 31, Indiana 21

9) Michigan St. 9-1. See above. We aren't comfortable with this, but the BCS says they should be here and we all now the BCS is perfect. Right? This Week: BYE WEEK

10) Alabama 7-2. Sure, they were exposed a bit last week. But there aren't a lot of teams that can take advantage of that. We think...and hear that there may be some underlying, not publicized issues with this team that may be coming out pretty soon. This Week: Alabama 17, Miss. St. 16

11) Oklahoma St. 8-1. We aren't deluding ourselves into thinking this team could move up in our poll. They won't. But there is nobody else worthy of being put here. Somebody has to be a "Man" about it. So why not them. This Week: Oklahoma St. 38, Texas 37

12) UCF 7-2. Why not? We don't think anyone else in the BCS, AP or USA today polls are worthy of being included here so why not include Florida's best college football team this season. Plus they are a perennial source of OSG material. Surely that makes them eligible. This Week: UCF 28, S. Miss. 23

The Bottom of the Barrel:

Wow! New Mexico won last week. Somehow, someway, they managed to beat Wyoming. Mike Locksley now has 2 career wins. We're pretty sure that won't salvage his job though. And since it was Wyoming, we don't think it will get the Lobos out of the Barrel either.

5) Texas 4-5. Bet'cha never thought these guys would be here voters, would you? They were a Top 5 preseason team, which validates our statement that preseason polls are stupid and worthless. Sadly, the tailspin for the 'Horns continues. This Week: See #11 of the Dozen

4) New Mexico 1-8. Congrats to the Lobos for making it out of the basement. Win one more and you'll get out of the house. But....that won't happen this week. Really, you do still suck and your coach deserves to be fired...last year. This Week: Air Force 41, New Mexico 12

3) San Jose St. 1-8. What can we say. They are awful. They play awful teams...and still lose. There just isn't anything redeeming here. This Week: Utah St. 31, San Jose St. 14

2) Memphis 1-8. If it weren't for Akron, this would be the worst team in College Football. God they are awful. They made Tennessee look like the best team in the SEC and that ain't easy to do. The whole coaching staff should be fired. Now. This Week: Marshall 48, Memphis 12

1) Akron 0-10. Can they just be put out of our misery? Last week was the closest they've come to a win, they lost in OT to a crappy Ball St. team. Just go slide down a Zipline and go away, please. This Week:They won't lose to the BYE...but won't win either.

And so goes another week. We stuck our neck out on a couple of games here, do you agree? Or do you think I'm crazy? Let us know....

OSG Polls: The Dirty Dozen and Bottom of the Barrel....Rock On!

So another week is in the books and we're getting closer and closer to finding out who's the best of the best in College Football. We would argue that this is a year with no standout teams. Several good ones, but no great ones.

Don't be surprised when the dust settles that the monopolistic BCS will have to allow a "Non-BCS" team to play for the title. You heard it hear first.

In today's clip, our hero's struggle to complete their mission....much like the teams in our poll. Thanks YouTube:

So, last week wasn't one of our best, but still pretty good: 10-5...which means 89-19 on the season (Not bad!)

With that out of the way, once again, as Casey says..."It's on with the countdown"...

The Dirty Dozen:

1) Oregon 8-0. What can you say? They've earned this. If they aren't the best team, they certainly are the best conditioned team. Nobody seems to be able to keep up. Don't expect that to change this week. This Week: Oregon 47, Washington 21.

2) Boise St. 7-0. We aren't quite ready to give up on them yet. This week will be their 1st test in a good while. They just need to keep taking care of business. This Week: Boise St. 37, Hawaii 21

3) Auburn 9-0. I like this team, but I'm still not convinced about the defense. Cam Newton is the real deal however...and as long as he's healthy, they win. Period. This Week: Auburn 43, Chattanooga 7

4) TCU 9-0. Judgement day. I'm not ready to push them over Boise....yet. If you haven't seen them play yet, you are going to be impressed. Really. This Week: TCU 31, Utah 27

5) Utah 8-0. Again, this week is as big as it gets for the Utes. While we think they are a Top 15, maybe 10 team, we aren't sure about Top 5. A win this week would convince us. This Week: See #4

6) Alabama 7-1. Here they are, inching their way up the charts. They haven't been dominant, but they've been pretty darn good. We should see if they are living on reputation this month. We think they are. This Week: (Last Weeks pick--we goofed) Alabama 18, LSU 16

7) Nebraska 7-1. We really like this team though we still can't figure out how they lost to Texas. That loss looks worse and worse by the week. Though they may get into the BCS, they won't make the title game because of it. This Week: Nebraska 27, Iowa St. 23

8) Wisconsin 7-1. I really hate this pick, but there isn't anyone else good enough to justify this slot. We really don't think they'll stick but this is the spot in the countdown where things get really muddy. This Week: Wisconsin 26, Purdue 12

9) Ohio St. 7-1. We really can't figure these guys out. They should be better than this. But they are the prototypical Big 10/12 team. All Big 10/12 teams lose games they shouldn't. It's what they do. This Week: Ohio St. 37, Penn St. 24

10) LSU 7-1. They don't necessarily belong here either. But they'll have to place hold until we can come up with a better team. Really, they aren't too bad on offense, they just don't have a QB. This Week: See #6

11) Stanford 7-1. A good Pac 10/12 team, but not good enough to be a serious BCS title contender. They are indicative of the struggle to find teams to put in the Dozen. This Week: Stanford 26, Arizona 21

12) Mississippi St. 7-2. This is a special mention because of the loss of Nick Bell earlier this week. And they aren't a bad team either. They get lost in the SEC shuffle sometimes, but just ask Florida if you want any part of them. We are looking forward to their game with Alabama after the bye week. This Week: Bye

The Bottom of the Barrel:
**Special note New Mexico St leaves us after beating San Jose St....go figure?

5) San Jose St. 1-8. If you lose to New Mexico State. You deserve to be here. No arguments. Ladies and gentlemen, this is not a good football team. And they aren't getting better. This Week: Utah St. 24, San Jose St. 17

4) UNLV 1-7. Good thing the natives in Vegas have...Vegas to keep them busy during Football season, because this team isn't worth the price of admission. This Week: BYU 31, UNLV 6

3) Memphis 1-7. Somehow Lenny's Subs chose them as last week's "Team of the Week". We have no idea why. Unless Lenny is the Lenny of Lenny and Squiggy fame, Memphis could only qualify as the "Worst Team of the Week". We say go watch more Laverne and Shirley. This Week: hahaha...Tennessee 12, Memphis 6

2) Akron. 0-9. Maybe the Zip nickname describes how many wins they'll have. They sure haven't threatened anyone...other than Gardner-Webb...an FCS team that they still lost to. Thank the gods of football they don't play New Mexico. That game would have to be outlawed. This Week: Ball St. 24, Akron 3

1) New Mexico 0-8. We may retire the belt with these guys. I suppose they have to play out the rest of the season, even though we know full well what the outcome is going to be. Hope that Mike Locksley is spending his days off polishing the resume'. This Week: Wyoming 35, New Mexico 12

And so ends another week. It's hard to believe that we are already 9-weeks into the season. Take a looks, see what you think and let us know if you do agree...or you don't.

OSG Polls: The Dirty Dozen and Bottom of the Barrel...and the walls came down....

We are doing this a day early, due to a busy Wednesday early morning schedule and that whole having to go back to work thing.

Last weeks dozen featured some surprises, some not so much and lots of college football fun. Even though we haven't always picked it, we've been pretty spot on about most teams this season as the cream slowly rises to the top. But don't be surprised if things change...yet again, in the next 4 weeks. And no, the BCS is for morons. We don't even know who half their damn computers belong to, never mind why they have a voice in all this.

So with that being said; in this weeks clip, the Dozen have to fight for their lives as they begin working towards their mission. Thanks for the clip YouTube:

Last week, we again had a pretty damn good week. 13-2, making us 79-14 for the season. I should be in Vegas Jerry, Vegas I tell ya!

With that out of the way...as Casey always says "On with the countdown!".

The Dirty Dozen:

1) Oregon 7-0. Now we get to find out what they've got. No doubt they can score on anyone, but they haven't stopped many people either. We think this week is a trap if we've ever seen one. It really kills us to pick our pal Kiffykins to beat anyone...but he will. This Week: USC 31, Oregon 30  UPSET!!!

2) Boise St. 6-0. We've said week after week that they are the best in all the land. Eventually someone is going to verify what we are saying. They just need to keep holding serve...and they will. This Week: See last weeks picks, where we picked them to beat La.Tech. 51-13

3) Auburn 8-0. Yeah, that was impressive what they did to Les' Damn fine team...Cam Newton is the real deal. But like his 1st version, Tebow, eventually the hits are going to catch up to him. Not this week though, even if it smells like a trap, it's not. This Week: Cam Newton 34, Ole Miss 21

4) TCU 8-0. We keep saying to watch out for these guys. They, like Boise are pretty damn good. You don't want them with time for them to prepare. This Week: TCU 41, UNLV 10

5) Michigan St. 8-0. Props to the fighting D'Antonio's for taking care of business by any means necessary. They seem to be the best of the Big 10/12--at least for now. Eventually, like all Big 10/12 teams they will lose a game they shouldn't. This Week: Michigan St. 28, Iowa 23

6) Utah 7-0. This is the rare MWC team that may be better on D than O. Everything for them will hang on what happens next week, but they better not overlook this weeks game. This Week: Utah 41, Air Force 27

7) Missouri 7-0. Wow! Everyone sure jumped on their bandwagon fast. We think this is a good, not great team. And last week, Oklahoma was proven not to be as good as everyone thought--we said that they weren't. This Week: Nebraska 31, Missouri 28

8) Alabama 7-1. They don't get to be ranked ahead of an undefeated team...yet. They just need to take care of business and let the cards fall where they may. They seemed to get on track again last week. This Week: Alabama 18, LSU 16

9) Nebraska 6-1. We still can't figure out how Texas beat them. Neither can they. They have their destiny in their own hands at this point. Win out, they are in the Big 12/10 Championship...and may be the Big 12/10 Champ. This Week: See #7

10) Ohio St. 7-1. Okay, so we let them creep back in. We just don't think they are all that, but the pollsters...and the computers think they must be because they play in the underachieving Big 10/12. We call "Bullshit". This Week: Ohio St. 43, Minnesota 7

11) Oklahoma 6-1. Ok. We slammed them, then picked them to win last week knowing full well we shouldn't. Our bad. They get points because, well, they are Oklahoma. And aside from Nebraska, nobody else in the Big 12/10 is worth a crap. This Week: Oklahoma 43, Colorado 24

12) Florida St. 6-1. Yes, Jon, I did it. You are cursed now. Thank you very much! It's only because we refuse to put the other alleged contenders in here. We don't believe...in any of them. They'll win the ACC, because nobody else wants to. This Week: FSU 33, NC State 27

The Bottom of the Barrel:

**Special Congrats to Western Kentucky for taking out 26 games of frustration on TLB's alma mater, Louisiana-Lafayette. If you can beat a decent team 54-27, you graduate from the Bottom of the Barrel.**

5) Florida 4-3. They were here last week, and thankfully, didn't have to score against the bye. So by virtue of being off, they don't get to leave...yet. We are very curious if the week off gave them time to figure out the problems, because everyone else already has. Plus, this is our all-time favorite week for them...and Georgia. This Week: Georgia 37, Florida 35

4) Memphis 1-6. Betcha' thought we forgot about you Barbecue boys...uh...no, hardly. You truly are one of the worst teams in College Football. Despite Fred Smith's best attempts at buying your way into the Big Least, you aren't worthy...and that's saying something. This Week: Houston 51, Memphis 7

3) New Mexico St. 1-6. No, like we said last week, beating New Mexico hardly qualifies you to get out of this. Face it, you just aren't very good. And sadly, you are playing a team this week that's almost as bad. This Week: San Jose St. 3, New Mexico St. 2

2) Akron 0-8. Not a good time to be living in Akron. First you lose hometown boy LeBron James to Miami, then, your only sporting hope turns out to be abysmally bad. The good news is after this week, there are only 3 more losses left. And then it will be winter time. Enjoy the snow! This Week: Temple 37, Akron 10

1) New Mexico 0-7. We seriously are considering them for the Bottom of the Barrel Hall of Fame. Really, what more can we say. Somehow, Mike Locksley is still employed and they continue with what they claim is football. Look at the story we did on the University of New Orleans basketball team, they are far more worthy of staying in Division I than these clowns. This Week: Colorado St. 41, Ron Mexico 6

And with that, we move on to another week. Believe me when I say it was hard to pick Kiffykins to beat Oregon, but this smells like a trap game with USC coming off of a bye and at home. Do you agree with these choices? If not, let us know, we'd be happy to post your picks too.

OSG Polls: The Dirty Dozen and Bottom of the Barrel....HA!

Just when you think that things are settling in this season....they aren't. The AP and the Coaches poll are doing everything they can to avoid the truth...and obvious. The non-BCS teams are better than the BCS teams. Yeah...I said it.

We weren't surprised that Ohio State lost, much like Alabama the week before and we aren't really sold on a lot of the teams in this weeks dozen either...but there are still 5 weeks or so before the season ends, the cream...so to speak, always rises to the top. And no, we don't get the BCS polling system. Why do they just give random guys who know how to program a computer a voice in this?

In this weeks clip, the team gets to socialize with the local women...something we hope none of our teams are doing....at least until the season ends.

Last week: 12-3 (we had 2 games on the board that were bye weeks...sorry). Overall, 66-12

So in the immortal words of Casey Kasem..."It's on with the countdown"...

The Dirty Dozen:

1) Oregon 6-0. Yes, they are #1 in the land...for now. We think they are pretty damn good on offense, we question the D. We think the big test will be next week against USC, nobody else in the PAC 10/12 is good enough. This Week: Oregon 47, UCLA 23 (last week's pick)

2) Boise St. 6-0. They just need to keep holding serve. It doesn't matter if they don't play an elite schedule. They'd be good in any other conference. In fact, we'll go as far to say they'll win their BCS game because it won't be the title game. The power conferences won't have it. This Week (Tues) Boise St. 51, La. Tech 13

3) Oklahoma 6-0. The BCS says they are #1. We call bullshit. They are a top 5 team for sure, but not #1. They are lucky they haven't lost yet. Unfortunately their only test left is at the end of the year at Okie St. This Week: Oklahoma 34, Mizzou (overrated) 13

4) TCU 7-0. They are stuck here. Wish that would change, but it won't. We still say that nobody wants anything to do with them. This Week: TCU 37, Air Force 27

5) Michigan St. 7-0. This is the one Big 10/12 team that we like. They are pretty well rounded and seem to be tough. Whether they can beat a top 10 team outside the Big 10/12 remains to be seen. This Week: Michigan St. 28, Northwestern 23

6) Auburn 7-0. Yeah, Cam Newton is pretty good. Yeah, they can score. But...they better learn how to play defense. Fast. There are 3 tough games left. This Week: Auburn 12, LSU 6

7) Utah 6-0. No, they aren't ranked too high here. Really. They've earned it. They are a really good team. They have one major game left...against TCU. This Week: Utah 44, Colorado St. 13

8) LSU 7-0. Eventually, the devil is going to ask Les Miles for an out to their deal. This is a bad offensive team, but decent defensive team that has had an ungodly amount of luck. That's why we think Les sold his soul for his "Damn fine football team". This Week: See #6

9) Alabama 6-1. We still wonder if they were exposed against South Carolina or it was just a fluke. It might be somewhere in between. Even if they win out, they are going to need some help. We're not sure they will. This Week: Alabama 27, Tennessee 13

10) Wisconsin 6-1. Nice win last week by Bucky. But Ohio State was overrated too. These guys are the prototypical Big 10/12 team. Good enough to beat the conferences best, but not good enough to always beat the worst. This Week: Iowa 31, Wisconsin 21

11) Oklahoma St. 6-0.  One of the better teams that nobody is paying attention to. The fighting Gundy's are MEN, but they struggle a bit on defense. Sure can throw the ball though. Look for the magic to end soon. This Week: Nebraska 27, Okie St. 23

12) Stanford 6-1. Again, they are a typical Pac 10/12 team. Good, not great. And no, they aren't very good on defense either. But they win. And that counts for something. This Week: Stanford 48, Wash. St. 18

The Bottom of the Barrel:

5) Florida 4-3. Because we can. Just like we did with Georgia a couple of weeks ago. We wonder when  they will realize that John Brantley is a dropback QB in a spread offense (think square peg--round hole). They've got a week...before seeing Georgia. This Week: Bye

4) Akron 0-7. Giving new meaning to the term "Zip". Good thing they only have 5 games left. And Western KY and New Mexico suck even worse. This Week: Western Mich. 34, Akron 12

3) New Mexico St. 1-5. They beat New Mexico. Big whoop. Even if the two combined, they'd still be one of the worst teams in the history of Division 1 football. This Week: Idaho 35, NM State 10

2) Western Kentucky 0-6. Somehow they were able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory last week.  Up 24-7 after 3 quarters, they gave up a 28-spot in the 4th. And they lose again. This Week: La. Laffayette 37, WKY 21

1) New Mexico 0-6. The champ is here! The champ is here! Only reason they can say that because they truly are....the worst team in college football. Mike Locksley we still don't understand how you are employed. This Week: San Diego St. 43, New Mexico 12

Sorry for the delay, it's been a busy week so far. Do you agree with these? Or not? Tell us! We'd like to know....

OSG Polls: The Dirty Dozen and Bottom of the Barrel...You really should listen to us!

You should. If you had at least read what we wrote last week, you would have known that Alabama was going to lose. Though we don't really claim modesty, we must add that we are pretty good at both ranking teams and picking games...if we do say so our ownselves.

This week's Dozen is highlighted by our clip featuring General Incognito. We always wondered where Richie's name comes from, I guess now we know.

So, before we get to the countdown, let's review our success. Last Week: 13-2, Overall: 54-9

The Dirty Dozen:

1) Oregon 6-0. Do I think they will finish here? No. They might, only because nobody in the Pac 10/12 can keep up with them. But I think they'll slip up. Though I won't predict it just yet. This Week: Oregon 47, UCLA 23

Wilkie: Oregon is in a great position. Who else is on their schedule that can hang with the Ducks. Oregon 45, UCLA 21

2) Ohio St. 6-0. Does anyone else think that they are here based mostly on reputation? Sure, they are pretty good. They are always pretty good. They just haven't beaten anyone. I don't think they are #1 worthy, nor will they be. This Week: Ohio St. 18, Wisconsin 16

Wilkie: Brother Phil, it ends in Madison Saturday for the Buckeyes. Wisconsin 17, Ohio State 14

3) Boise St. 5-0
. They are better than everyone east of the Mississippi gives them credit for. So what that they don't play an "SEC" schedule. Either you are good or you aren't. They just need to keep taking care of business. This Week: Boise St. 47, San Jose St. 13

Wilkie: Boise State will take care of business and we aren't jumping off the bandwagon. Boise State 45, San Jose State 10

4) TCU 6-0. Another team with no respect. Believe me when I say this, you don't want any part of them if they have time to prep for you. This Week: TCU 27, BYU 17

Wilkie: TCU is the best team in Texas and would probably leading the Big 12 South if they were in that league. The Frogs are damn good. TCU 31, BYU 14

5) Oklahoma 5-0. You could argue that they and Nebraska are interchangeable and really, they probably are. The body of work is a bit more impressive here so far. They still haven't been great, but they have been pretty good. This Week: Oklahoma 34, Iowa St. 21

Wilkie: Just keep winning OU. I want one last meaningful Oklahoma - Nebraska game before I die. Oklahoma 31, Iowa State 17

6) Nebraska 5-0. The best young QB not named Denard Robinson is Taylor Martinez. And Martinez plays for a better team. We will find out this week, just how good they are. This Week: Nebraska 20, Texas 19

Wilkie: Nebraska wants this game bad. The Huskers want to kick some Longhorn ass. Nebraska 55, Texas 10

7) Auburn 6-0. You cannot convince me that The Chizik hasn't sold his soul to the devil...or Bobby Lowder. Either way, he can't possibly be this good a coach. The question is, will he kill Cam Newton? Newton is really good, but is taking a beating this year. This Week: Auburn 31, Arkansas 24

Wilkie: Arkansas always plays great at Jordan-Hare. The defense actually looked great against Texas A&M. I have some concerns about the Hogs but I'm going with my heart on this. Arkansas 37, Auburn 31

8) LSU 6-0. We aren't really sure that Les Miles isn't the Devil. Were the Gators the only people that weren't expecting some trickeration at the end of last weeks game? This Week: LSU 38, McNeese St. 10

Wilkie: If LSU needs a trick play to beat McNeese State then the "Mad Hatter" is just plain mad. LSU 31, McNeese State 3

9) Utah 5-0
. They absolutely destroyed a decent Iowa St. team last week. Yet another good team that the power conferences wrongly dismiss. Trust me, you don't want any part of them in a bowl game. This Week: Utah 47, Wyoming 12

Wilkie: If Utah were in the Pac-10 now they would challenge Oregon for the title. Utah 48, Wyoming 3

10) South Carolina 4-1. Yes, it is safe to say beating Alabama last week was the programs biggest win ever. Several people compare them to the Chicago Cubs...a fair comparison. They are very good, but will lose to someone they probably shouldn't. This Week: Kentucky 27, South Carolina 23

Wilkie: Brother Phil you banking on a let down by the Gamecocks after the win over Alabama. I'm giving the Head Ball Coach the benefit of the doubt on this one. South Carolina 24, Kentucky 21

11) Michigan St. 6-0. They may be the best team in the Big 10/12, but we'll never know since they don't play Ohio St. We think this may be a sleeper team in the Top 5 before it is all said and done. This Week: Michigan St. 28, Illinois 23

Wilkie: I'll go so far to say Michigan State is the best team in the Big 10/12. They will take care of the Dying Illini. Michigan State 34, Illinois 21

12) Alabama 5-1. Well, now they've been exposed. Good or bad, the schedule is coming back to haunt them. A good, not great team. They'll finish strong, but will it be enough? This Week: Alabama 37, Ole Miss 21

Wilkie: I feel sorry for Ole Miss. Jolly Ole St. Nick will make the Rebels pay for losing to South Carolina. Alabama 37, Ole Miss 3

The Bottom of the Barrel:

5) Memphis 1-5. So, they were here, won a game and escaped for a week. But the crap always sinks to the bottom now, don't they. When you average 13 points and give up an average of 39, you can say "You Suck!". Memphis, you suck. This Week: Southern Miss 39, Memphis 13

Wilkie: What's that smell... smells like Memphis. Southern Miss 45, Memphis 10

4) E, Michigan 0-6
. 18-straight losses means that you might have a problem. No, Ron English, you definitely have a problem. The only thing saving you is that Western Kentucky has lost more games. This Week: Ball St. 47, E. Michigan 13

Wilkie: Are there any E. Michigan fans left. Ball State 42, E. Michigan 10

3) Akron 0-6
. Zippi-dee-doo-da...Zippi-dee-day, my oh my, what a horrible team. You know that most of these teams are interchangeable. They all have their issues. All of them. This Week: Ohio 27, Akron- Zip

Wilkie: Brother Phil, you stole my line. The Ohio University 34, Akron 0

2) Western Kentucky 0-5. What is the count now? 0-24? Or just 0-for Division 1? Either way, it's bad Jerry, it's just bad. Really, we don't know that they will be capable of winning a game this year. This Week: La. Monroe 33, WKU 21

Wilkie: I lost count on the 'Hills. ULM 34, Western Kentucky 0

1) New Mexico 0-6. Just do it. Just fire Locksley already. It will take decades to recover from this, if ever. Really, can they petition to play I-AA? This Week: San Diego State 37, New Mexico 6

Wilkie: I actually watched a replay of the New Mexico - New Mexico State game. The Lobos were the most inept team I've ever seen in college football. When are Lobo fans going to put bags over their heads. San Diego State 38, New Mexico 0

And there you have it. Another fun week of College Football excitement. Think you can pick better than us? Tell us about it. How would you pick it...or rank it?

OSG Polls: The Dirty Dozen and Bottom of the Barrel...One Big Dog, lots of little ones

This past week was a good learning experience for us. We learned that Alabama is probably much better than anyone else. We also learned that Oregon is pretty good...for a Pac 10/12 team, Boise gets no respect and Ohio State might be overrated. We also learned that Tennessee can't count and Les Miles has some sort of deal with the devil.

This coming week doesn't present as many challenges as everyone settles into their conference schedules. There is a lot less anticipation, but...then again, that is usually when the upsets start happening.

In today's clip, the Dozen complain about living conditions, much like the battle of conferences where the big boys keep saying that Boise doesn't belong...

Oh, last week: 11-1...WKU/FIU is this week--My Bad! Overall: 41-7....MY GOOD!

So, with that out of the way...It's on with the Countdown!

The Dirty Dozen:

1) Alabama 5-0. No question they deserve this right now. The question is who can beat them. Enemy of the OSG Paul Finebaum says nobody can. I say South Carolina will. UPSET ALERT. This Week: South Carolina 23, Alabama 21

Wilkie: I can see South Carolina pulling it off, the Head Ball Coach has been dreaming of this kind of scenerio since taking over the Gamecock program. I'm just not ready to pull the trigger.
Alabama 24, South Carolina 23

2) Oregon 5-0. Yes, they deserve this. They seem to have another gear whenever they get challenged. Count me impressed. However, they may not stay here due to the conference they play in. We'll see. This Week: Oregon 112, Washington St. 0

Wilkie: Oregon is athletic, has outstanding speed and I think Chip Kelly is a hell of a coach. Phil Knight's money helps to. This Saturday they don't break a sweat. Oregon 75, Wazzou 0

3) Boise St. 4-0 I guess that I'm the only one who still thinks they are a Top 3 team. Granted they dismantled New Mexico St. last week, but they've done it all year. They will continue to roll...until they play Nevada. This Week: Boise St. 41, Toledo 17

Wilkie: You are not the only one Brother Phil. Boise State has done everything they are suppose to do in their situation. Just keep winning. Boise State 43, Toledo 14

4) Ohio St. 5-0. Apparently I'm the only one not impressed with these guys. They should've killed Illinois, but didn't. I still maintain they are good, not great. The hallmarks of a Big 10/12 team. They'll continue to get love until they lose a game they shouldn't. This Week: Ohio St. 28, Indiana 21

Wilkie: Ohio State seems to give a good enough effort to win but doesn't win impressively but that's just me. Ohio State 24, Indiana 21

5) Nebraska 4-0. This may be your Big 12/10 winner. They haven't been pushed, except against South Dakota St., which is not a good sign. We'll see what they are made of the next couple of weeks. This Week: Nebraska 27, K-State 18

Wilkie: Nebraska will win this but K-State is much better than I thought and will keep it very close in the Little Apple. Nebraska 28, K-State 24

6) TCU 5-0 The Dalton gang just keeps rolling. They win. They win big. They don't give up many points. But they are a Mountain West team and may not be the best one in it. This Week: TCU 38, Wyoming 10

Wilkie: Biding their time until their showdown against Utah. TCU 37, Wyoming 7

7) Auburn 5-0. I thought they may be pretty good, they've been better than that so far. We still question how the Chizik all of a sudden has these incredible recruits...not that Auburn has ever done anything hinky with the boosters or anything before. This Week: Auburn 28, Kentucky 21

Wilkie: This has the feeling of a trap game for Auburn with a pair of critical home games coming up against Arkansas and LSU. The Tigers will get it done in Lexington. Auburn 31, Kentucky 24

8) Utah 4-0. We kind of look forward to the week these guys play TCU. Really, there is nobody else on their schedule, Notre Dame included, who should give them a problem. This Week: Utah 31, Iowa St. 21

Wilkie: Brother Phil, Iowa State will. The Cyclones are coming off a confidence building win over Texas Tech and put over 50 up on the Red Raiders. It's in Ames and since being destroyed by Iowa last month Iowa State has played much better. Iowa State 34, Utah 28

9) Oklahoma 5-0. Again, we aren't impressed. Sure, they took care of Texas. Texas isn't that good this year. We think they are overrated. Not highly, but overrated. No schedule problems looming, they are on the fast track to win the Big 12/10 South. This Week: The Dreaded Bye

Wilkie: OU can keep it in cruise control to win the South.

10) Arizona 4-0. Wow, when is the last time they were this highly though of? Props to them. They are a pretty good defensive team, not something common in the Pac 10/12. It may serve them well. This Week: Arizona 23, Oregon St. 21

Wilkie: Looks like the Cactus Curtain defense has returned to Tucson. Arizona's defense is #2 in the country in total defense. The Wildcats "Bear Down" on the Beavers. Arizona 28, Oregon State 20

11) Michigan St. 5-0. Big props to them for staying the course despite their coach's health issues. We can't guarantee they'll stay here, but they get the nod for perseverance right now. This Week: Michigan St. 37, Michigan 36

Wilkie: Get well coach Dantonio. A win over the Maize and Blue is the best medicine this week. Michigan State 41, Michigan 38

12) Nevada 5-0. We meant to include them last week and forgot. Big props for them, they've not been ranked for decades...in any poll. They should have an easy path...at least until Boise St. rolls in after Thanksgiving. Give it up for the Wolfpack! This Week: Nevada 37, San Jose St. 14

Wilkie: For those who miss Tim Tebow in college football the catch Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick, he's got the same skill set. Kaepernick would be all over the highlight reels if he was in the SEC. The Wolfpack keeping howling. Nevada 45, San Jose State 3

The Bottom of the Barrel:

5) Georgia 1-4. Yes, we did it. Despite our ties to the program. We did it. We never thought it would come to this, but we suspect they didn't either. We felt obligated, at least for a week, to count the crappy start against them. Plus they lost to Colorado. This Week: Georgia 34, Tennessee 21

Wilkie: Face it, Georgia is just a very bad team right now. They deserve to be in the bottom of the barrel. The Bulldogs prevail only because Tennessee isn't any better but they don't have AJ Green. Georgia 38, Tennessee 31

4) Akron 0-5. The Zips have....no Zip. Yeah, I said it. They are ranked over 110 in 3 out of 4 major statistical categories. The reason for that. They suck. Truly. There isn't much else you can say. The only saving grace, they don't live in New Mexico. This Week: Kent St. 37, Akron 12
Wilkie: No Zippity, no do-dah, no Zippity De-aay. Just a bad football team. Kent State 34, Akron 7

3) Western Kentucky 0-4.
Sorry for the tease about them losing last week. My bad. It just prolonged their agony. They are still 0-for Division 1. We are a bit perplexed as to what to do, because this week, they play a team probably as bad. This Week: WKU 7, FIU 6. The schnide ends!
FIU 6, WKU 3

2) New Mexico St. 0-4. Really. Can't the NCAA force the state of New Mexico out of Division one? The football there...well...it's just awful. The only reason these guys aren't the worst of the worst is because of New Mexico. And they play each other this week. I can smell the stench of this game here in the Northern HQ...god...please make it stop. This Week: New Mexico St. -3, New Mexico -2

Wilkie: I bet you can get tickets below face value for this one. They call this the I-24 rivalry in New Mexico. I suggest the state troopers to put up a road block on that stretch of highway to prevent this game to be witnessed by anyone. New Mexico State 9, New Mexico 0

1) New Mexico 0-5. Please make it stop. My god. This game is supposed to be on ESPN 3. Thank god nobody actually gets that. The only people that will watch are S and M freaks. Mike Locksley has sent football in New Mexico back 50 years. If only we knew who he has photos of. This Week: See #2

Wilkie: Maybe you answered the photo question on Mike Locksley with the reference to S & M. Someone with influence at the University of New Mexico enjoys a visit to the dungeon room and one of Coach Locks' people snapped a few pics. Just thinking out loud. See #2

God help anyone who watches the battle of New Mexico. Though we suppose you could argue it is the same reason people like to see train wrecks. God, that game just casts a pall on the whole week. We are stepping out on a limb with the Alabama game, but South Carolina is a tough place to play. And 'Bama is coming off the Florida massacre. We'll see. What sayeth' you?

OSG Polls: The Dirty Dozen and Bottom of the Barrel, Week 4-Separating the Men from the Boys

So...now we get into the heart of the season. We get to the point where the practice games against the FBS teams and the Division II teams and the crappy D-1 schools are over with and conference games kick in full blast.

We learned that Alabama has some resiliency. We learned the Florida might too. We also learned that Texas was over rated and Boise probably wasn't.

Before we get to the poll, our clip of the week has our hero's training for their mission...which much like our football teams, begins this week.

Last Week: 14-2...pretty darn good! 40-6 on the season. Top that boys!

So, as Casey says...."It's on with the Countdown!"

The Dirty Dozen:

1) Alabama 4-0. They had to come back to beat Arkansas deep in the Ozarks. But they did. And they didn't sweat too much doing it. There is some concern with the secondary, but that may be their only weakness. We'll find out. This Week: Alabama 23, Florida 21(Wishing mutual destruction though)

Wilkie: Mutual destruction would be a win-win but that can't happen in college football. Alabama wins it because Jolly Ole St. Nick demands it. Alabama 21, Florida 14

Nelson: I like the "MAD" gambit for the second week in a row... otherwise, Alabama 23 Florida 13

2) Ohio St. 4-0.
They get to move up because they are killing everyone they play. Of course they've only played one real team too. Yes, they'll stay here for awhile because nobody in the Big 10/12 is good enough to beat them. This Week: Ohio St. 41, Illinois 21

Wilkie: The Buckeyes take care of business against the Zookers. Ohio State 45, Illinois 24

Nelson: I don't think Illinois will put up 21 points. TOSU 31-17

3)Boise St. 3-0.
Two ranked teams down one more to go. I've said it before I'll say it again. They might not beat all the SEC teams, but I'd pick 'em over everyone but 'Bama. This is a good football team. This Week: Boise St. 51, New Mexico St. 7

Wilkie: You non-believers in Boise State need to get a clue. Don't hate on the Broncos because they play in the WAC. This week Boise State takes down the Aggies. Boise State 58, New Mexico State 3

Nelson: I'm more in Wilkie's wheelhouse here... Boise 51-6

4)Oregon 4-0.
Another team to watch out for. I still think they are a typical all flash no substance Pac 10/12 team. But that may just be me. Yeah, they can score, but can they stop a good team? This Week: Oregon 37, Stanford 31

Wilkie: We will find out if they can brother Phil because Stanford's offense is damn good. I'm going against the grain a taking the Cardinal. Stanford 31, Oregon 27

Nelson: Stanford 34-31- a signature win for the Harbaugh Administration

5) TCU 4-0.
I really think these guys will be here when the season ends. This is a pretty solid team front to back. Besides, how can you go wrong with Dalton at QB? Please, send some Roadhouse jokes our way. This Week: TCU 47, Colorado St. 13

Wilkie: TCU is the best team in Texas. TCU 45, Colorado State 10

Nelson: The name's Dalton... We're all in the ballpark 42-10

6) Nebraska 4-0.
These aren't your Daddy's Cornhuskers...or are they? They don't throw the ball very well, but they sure can run it. Last week was a let down vs. South Dakota St., but it's time to play big boy football from here on.

Wilkie:

Nelson: I like Idle this week...

7) Florida 4-0. It appears they may have awakened this past week. We are a bit skeptical about that. Now that Trey Burton has introduced himself, you can bet people will be ready for him. Jeff Demps is hurt, there isn't much else. This Week: See #1

Wilkie: Ditto

Nelson: Yeah, that...

8) Oklahoma 4-0.
They got lucky to escape Cincinnati with a "W". Lucky. They are pretty good, but we question if they are "Elite" good. We'll find out this week. This Week: Texas 27, Oklahoma 23

Wilkie: In my opinion the best rivalry in college football. Oklahoma and Texas must have looked ahead to the Red River Rivalry because OU barely beat Cincinnati and Texas had a head scratching loss to UCLA. Oklahoma 31, Texas 28

Nelson: It's all about survival in this one... Oklahoma 27-21

9) Auburn 4-0.
Cam Newton is channeling his inner Tebow. And its working. This is a pretty solid team right now. Who knew the Chizik could coach? Or is there something else going on with the plethora of top rated recruits suddenly going to the Plains? This Week: Auburn 49, La. Monroe 12

Wilkie: If Auburn keeps this up I can't wait for the Iron Bowl. Auburn 48, UL-Monroe 10

Nelson: TBH would kill me if I said Monroe... 45-10 Auburn...

10) Wisconsin 4-0.
They got a break last week and survived their trip to Arizona. I'm still not sold on them as a top 10 team, but I've been known to be wrong too. This Week: Mich. St 24, Wisconsin 21

Wilkie: I'm with brother Phil on the Badgers. The Spartans will be inspired with coach Dantonio back. Michigan State 28, Wisconsin 20

Nelson: I'll go with Wisconsin just to be different...27-23

11) Stanford 4-0.
You go fighting Trees. Any team with a 2-way player named Owen Marecic is cool with us. Yes, Marecic starts at both FB and MLB. We love that! This Week: Unfortunately see #4

Wilkie: See #4

Nelson: Yeah, #4...

12) Utah 4-0.
They get to stay. Really, they haven't done a lot to lose this spot, so they won't. This Week: The Dreaded Bye

The Bottom of the Barrel:

5) Minnesota 1-3. Face it. They just aren't very good. We don't think Tim Brewster will last long, nor will he see Brewster's Millions (had to work that in!). This Week: Northwestern 23, Minnesota 13

Wilkie: Nice one brother Phil. Brewster is keeping the seat warm as deep pocketed Gopher boosters seek out alum Tony Dungy and offer him the world. This week another loss. Northwestern 24, Minnesota 10

Nelson: Another Punky week in Minnesota, Northwestern 23-14

4)New Mexico St. 0-3
. We wonder if the state of New Mexico should give up football. They have some really, really bad teams. Really, think about it. They could use this time of year to get ready for hoops. It would save some money, wouldn't it? This Week: Boise St. 51, New Mexico St. 7

Wilkie: I can't wait until next week when New Mexico and New Mexico State play. I bet those tickets have been gone for months. Boise State 58, NMSU 3

Nelson: Boise 49-7 on a garbage TD late...

3) Eastern Michigan 0-4.
They got "Jacked Up!" last week. But that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. They aren't good. They haven't been good. They may....NEVER...be good. This Week: Ohio 3, E. Michigan 2

Wilkie: I think I get it brother Phil, Eastern Michigan is a bad team. The Ohio University 4, Eastern Michigan 2

Nelson: Ohio 2, Eastern 1...

2) W. Kentucky 0-4.
Still 0-for Division One. That will someday change, but we don't know when. They are overmatched against just about everyone. The only reason they aren't the worst of the worst is because of New Mexico. This Week: W.Ky 7, FIU 6 UPSET SPECIAL!!!!!

Wilkie: OK brother Phil I'll go with that. The Hills will be alive with the thrill of victory. WKU 7 FIU 6

Nelson: I can't go there yet... 13-7 FIU...

1) New Mexico 0-4.
The worst program in Divison 1 football. Period! Mike Locksley, the worst coach in D-1 football, Period! How is that man still employed. How does the NCAA let either New Mexico school play football? Period! This Week: UTEP 51, New Mexico 0

Wilkie: How's the high school football in the Land of Enchantment? UTEP 66, New Mexico 3

Nelson: UTEP 67, New Mexico negative-4

There you have it. The best and the worst of College Football. What sayeth you? Agree or disagree? Let us know. In the meantime....enjoy your Saturday.
