Yale's Mandi Schwartz Passes At 23

Mandi Schwartz, the Yale women's hockey player who was the subject of a continent-wide search for a bone-marrow/cord blood donor, died Sunday after her battle with acute myeloid leukemia for almost two years. She was 23.

Schwartz, a Saskatchewan native, had a string of 73 consecutive games played at one point during her collegiate career. She found out in April of 2010 that the cancer, which had been in remission for a year previous, had returned.

Yale said marrow drives on behalf of Schwartz had added over four thousand people to donor registries in the U.S. and in Canada.

Jay Boulware is heading to Auburn to join The Chizik's staff from Iowa State. He'll be the special teams guru. Trooper Taylor is on campus to join coach-mate Curtis Luper from Oklahoma State.
