Montreal Police Investigating Chara Hit

Police in Quebce province say they are acting on a request by Quebec's director of criminal and penal prosecutions, Louis Dionne. After evidence is collected, it will be determined if there are grounds for prosecution, they said.

But Pacioretty said he doesn't want Chara prosecuted.

"I sincerely appreciate all of the support that I have received since my injury," he said in a statement. "I was disappointed that the NHL did not suspend Zdeno Chara. However, I have no desire for him to be prosecuted legally. I feel that the incident, as ugly as it was, was part of a hockey game.

"I understand that this is not my decision. I have respect and admiration for the authorities in Quebec. I simply wanted to make my opinion clear."

What Pacioretty is saying is the nature of the sport, but the HQ is still stunned that Chara got no suspension out of the deal...

And the Canadiens ownership is still pissed...

Chara Has Nothing On... Denis Kulyash...???

Apparently, there's a new sheriff in town...

Last weekend, at the NHL All-Star Game in Raleigh, the Boston Bruins Zdeno Chara wound up and poked a puck into the net at 105.9MPH to win the fastest shot competition.

So much for that idea...

The Continental Hockey League says defenseman Denis Kulyash hit 110.3 mph at the KHL All-Star skills competition Saturday.

Kulyash, who plays for Avangard Omsk, has 11 goals and 24 points in 46 games this season.

He was an eighth-round pick of the Nashville Predators in 2004, but has never played in the NHL.

Chara Rocks The MPH- 105.4

As much as we are pimps for the puck here at OSG HQ, the Saturday NHL All-Star Skills Competition was pretty boring- save for the Breakaway Challenge, Alexander Ovechkin and the yupset that almost was in "Hardest Shot."

The Mighty Chara rocked the short hair cut to the tune of a new MPH record- 105.4- bereaking the old record of Al Iafrate's 105.2. Iafrate's record was set the last time the All-Star Game was in Montreal 13 years ago.

So much for showing the Skullet every year as a highlight...
