Mike Leach's lawsuit against Texas Tech University has now been expanded expanded to include Texas Tech officials as defendants. The attorney for former head football coach Mike Leach, Ted Liggett, claims those being sued over-stepped the limits of their jobs and interfered with the University's investigation of Leach and Adam James.
They now include Tech Chancellor Kent Hance, University President Guy Bailey, Athletic Director Gerald Myers, Regents Larry Anders and Jerry Turner, and ESPN Analyst Craig James.
"We started this lawsuit to try to find the truth. We believe Mike was fired so the University could save money. He was fired and the University saved money. The University is paying the current football coach less than they were paying Mike Leach," Liggett said.
Here's coverage from our friends at KCBD-TV...
Leach and Liggett believe that the coach was fired a day before he was due an $800,000 bonus- the day after he signed a new contract.
The HQ has long thought this suit was one long, wasteful shenanigan, but if Leach wants to take his Pepperdine law degree and put it to use, then go for it...

Hance Wants Ruffin To Stay Somehow...
((HT: KCBD-TV))
Pete Christy has it, on his sources, that Texas Tech Chancellor Kent Hance has offered fired ex-interim head football coach Ruffin McNeill a job as an assistant Athletic Director at the university- no word on whether or not McNeill has accepted the position.
If McNeill is still having difficulty finding work in any way, Hance would find a job for McNeill if he needed to within the university.
Hance is also giving all of the old assistants five months severance- available unless they find other work in football...
Classy move...
Don Williams from the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal has the quotes:
"We’d make him an assistant athletic director to help us with development in charge of certain areas,” Hance said Thursday. “And if he didn’t want to do that, I’d put him in my office in development. There’s not a greater ambassador.”
Apparently, McNeill has been mentioned for DC openings at both Houston and Mississippi State. His alma mater, East Carolina, now has an opening, too...

((HT: KCBD-TV Lubbock))
Former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach is using that law degree of his to its full value...
He has filed a motion for "expedited discovery" in Lubbock County court.
All that means, in legaleze, is that Leach wants documents from the university quicker than normal... Leach maintains that any delay will harm his case...
Here's the full document Leach and his attorney, Ted Liggett, filed...
Meanwhile, Chancellor Kent Hance updates us all on the coaching search that does not include Baylor head man Art Briles...
David Collier stands at attention for the latest...

Adam James Video From The "Closet"
((HT: Youtube/Spaethcom8181)
Okay, here it is...
We think...
We're going by what we've seen on other video sources that this is, in fact, video of the internal area ((closet, shed, whatever other names have been used to describe it)) that Texas Tech football player Adam James allegedly was housed in by then head football coach Mike Leach...
The HQ thinks what Leach did was absolutely silly and cost him a boatload of money- for now. We also are of the mind that there will be a settlement somewhere between $240,000 and $10-million between the two parties to put this whole thing to bed soon...
Very soon...
ESPN's Rece Davis caught up with Texas Tech Chancellor Kent Hance about why the university took the action they did...
Quite candid for a guy headed to court...
