Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year Ronnie Hillman scored four touchdowns and ran for 228 yards on 28 carries to lead San Diego State to its first bowl victory since 1969, 35-14 over Navy in the Poinsettia Bowl.
If we ran the whole name of the bowl, the HQ would still be typing...
1.5 million gallons of rainwater were pumped out of Qualcomm Stadium in the 24 hours before the game.
Hillman scored on runs of 22, 37 and 2 yards, plus a 15-yard scoring pass from Ryan Lindley.
Here's some postgame from Navy Head Coach Ken Niumatololo...

Poinsettia Bowl Still A Go With Qualcomm Flooded
((HT: KSWB-TV San Diego))
A large section of the parking lot and field at Qualcomm Stadium were under water which could lead to difficult conditions at Thursday's Poinsettia Bowl.
Crews at the city-owned facility worked all day to pump out the water, and the San Diego Bowl Association confirmed that Thurday's college football game will go on as scheduled.
"The San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl will kick off as scheduled at 5:06 p.m.,'' said Bruce Binkowski, executive director of the game, in a statement e-mailed to the media.
"City of San Diego and bowl officials are working together to insure the field will be ready for play,'' he said. "Due to water in the parking lot and a reduced number of parking spaces, fans are encouraged to arrive early for the game and consider using the San Diego Trolley. The parking lot opens at 11 a.m.''
San Diego State University is appearing in its first post-season game in 12 years against the U.S. Naval Academy.
It is unknown how much of the parking lot will be available, since water flowing from the East County mountains will feed into the river for several more days.
The Metropolitan Transit System plans to add extra trolleys. A portion of the Green Line track was closed near the stadium because it was under several inches of water, but was opened several hours later.
About 51,000 game tickets had been sold by Monday.

TWTW: A Wynn-Wynn Situation For Utah
((HT: KSL-TV))
Cal jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead against Utah in the SDCCU Poinsettia Bowl...
Cal then responded as only Cal does and proceeded to lose the game...
And, by the way, the HQ would like to alert everyone to the pronunciation of the flower in question... It's "Poin-set-uh," not "Poin-set-tee-uh..."
We seem to have to remind everyone of this every year...
Utah's Jordan Wynn threw for a career-high 338 yards and 3 TD's as Number 23 Utah won 37-27...
The Utes scored 27 straight points to win their ninth straight bowl game- the longest current streak in the country. The Golden Bears, in a bowl game for the school-record seventh straight year, had their four-game postseason winning streak snapped.
Wynn improved to 3-0 at Jack Murphy Stadium ((yes, the HQ knows about the corporate title, but we're not getting paid to mention the name))- including two section championships while the starter at suburban Oceanside High.
Here's your highlights from our friends at KSL-TV- again...

TCU Upsets Boise's Undefeated Season...
You know that the city of San Diego is rolling sevens and elevens these days...
They are the center of the football universe for the next week or so.
They have the play-in game for the AFC West title between San Diego and the Denver Broncos.
They have the Holiday Bowl between Oregon and Oklahoma State.
And they have the Poinsettia Bowl ((by the way, it's pronounced "poin-set-uh..."))
The Poinsettia Bowl...?
Yup... two top-fifteen teams- Boise State and TCU...
Boise became everyone's sweetheart after their upset of Oklahoma and the subsequent marriage proposal by tail back Ian Johnson. This year, they were looking for an undefeated season. Johnson is now married, but the Broncos were jilted at the altar.
Boise had a lead of 13-0 at one point in the first half, but lost 17-16.
Head Coach Chris Petersen put the blame squarely on the Broncos' red-zone performance.
"That's what got us - too many field goals," Petersen said. " I knew a couple of those field goals were going to come back to haunt us."
Post-game coverage continues below from our friends at KIVI-TV...

Poinsettias and Paradise
San Diego, California is beautiful in late December. Hawaii is of course paradise. The college bowl season heads to two great locales so here's the breakdown, if that's what you want to call it, of the next round of bowl games.
San Diego Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl - December 23rd - Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, CA
Boise State vs TCU (I like TCU)
Here's a special prize chosen just for you: Your very own 8 gig IPOD touch for the players of both teams. There's more, a Tommy Hilfiger Watch, a certificate from Best Buy and a hooded sweatshirt from Sports Tek
The sweat shirt is re-giftable but the rest sounds great. Way to go Poinsettia Bowl.
SWAG Meter: 8.5
Bowl Event: Grand Prix carting for the players. They must of spent all their money on the SWAG.
Final Analysis: Did the Poinsettia Bowl luck out with this marquee match-up or what. Unbeaten Boise State was a long shot for a BCS bowl, didn't get it and has landed in the Poinsettia Bowl. The Broncos will face the TCU Horned Frogs who finished 10-2 and have the 2nd best defense in the nation. This WAC - Mountain West showdown is must see TV.
Sherton Hawaii Bowl - December 24 - Honolulu, HI
Notre Dame vs Hawaii (It's a pick'em)
What Do They Win Don Pardo: Well each player from both teams will receive Hawaii Bowl custom backpack, KICKER IKick500 ipod/iphone, a custom Hawaii Bowl tie, Oakley sunglasses, a Kahala Aloha shirt, a Wearever beach chair, a beach towel, a team t-shirt, an SHB calendar, a Hawaii Bowl hat, a Hawaii Bowl visor and Luggage Spotter with bag tags.
A trip to Hawaii and a bag of gifts. The Fighting Irish will be thrilled. Keep it all, even the tie.
SWAG Meter: 9.5
Bowl Event: Forget the formal events, just go to the beach and chill. Check out the scenery (if you know what I mean.)
Final Analysis: Hawaii may be paradise but this match-up is anything but. It's a home game for the Warriors against Notre Dame. Unless your family is just annoying the hell out of you or your football withdraws are so severe you can't stop shaking, avoid this one. Besides, the warm weather scenics will tick you off.
