A Good, Post-Season Base Brawl

((HT: WCIV-TV Charleston))

Jeff Melillo of the Charleston Post and Courier got a good seat for this one- a Southern Conference battle between Elon and The Citadel...

Elon's Head Coach, Mike Kennedy, summed it up this way:
"It's a black eye for our university and probably for our league," he said. "It's two great teams playing extremely hard with a lot on the line, both playing for postseason play. It's unfortunate that it took place.

"I was very angry at (Elon players). We preach to them discipline and keeping your composure, and we didn't. Neither club did.

"It was hard. Your assistants are trying to pull people off, and every time you get somebody off, something else happens. It doesn't matter how important the game is, you've got to keep your composure."

The short version: Ninth inning, 3-2 lead for Elon... hard slide at the plate...
People discuss... punches thrown... Citadel Head Coach hurt a little bit..
Citadel wins in extras 6-3...

Here's a good 40 seconds of fun...

Okay... here's everything you need to know about the unofficial national holiday known as "National Signing Day..."

Da'Rick Rogers went from committing to Georgia to Tennessee- surprising no one who understood the idea that he and his high school QB, Nash Nance, were a package deal. Vols head coach Derek Dooley knew this and got them both. Nance comes in from Vanderbilt...

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has the state of Georgia covered here...

Mr. SEC has his run down here...

For those of you who like other conferences:
The ACC is here...

The March March: Your Monday Wrap

OSG HQ would like to congratulate VCU, Siena, Gonzaga, and Tennessee-Chattanooga for getting the chance to play later in the month...

UTC upset the College of Charleston at McKenzie Arena to win the Southern Conference championship. We readily admit that it would've been cool to see Bobby Cremins in the tournament one more time, but we're patient...

Speaking of patient... Keith Cawley and our friends at WRCB-TV in Chattanooga let us in on a secret from the SoCon tourney. The Mocs have a point guard that walked on, and now as one of six seniors, has been named team captain for two years straight- Zach Ferrell...
