Aaron Rodgers ran for a score, threw for 244 yards, and saved a score from happening with a shoestring lunge at Brian Urlacher and the Packers win in Chicago 21-14 over the Bears.

Bears starting QB Jay Cutler only lasted into the third quarter with a knee injury. Todd Collins saw some duty- going 0-for-2- before Bears OC Mike Martz had to talk into the ear of third-year player Caleb Hanie from...???

Coming into the game, Hanie was 5-for-7 for 55 yards passing on the season...

NFL Playoffs: Packers, Rodgers Shoot Down The Falcons

Pardon Atlanta Falcons fans if they have visions of 30 years ago. The 1980 Falcons had the best record in the NFL heading into the playoffs but had nothing to show for it. Danny White led the Dallas Cowboys to a come-from-behind win in the Divisional Playoff. Do you remember? This will help. Vin Scully and George Allen were in the booth for CBS Sports. 30 years later the Falcons had the best record in the NFC, home field advantage throughout the playoffs and will have nothing to show for it.

The Green Bay Packers destroyed the Falcons 48-21, or should I say Aaron Rodgers did it.

The Packers quarterback could do nothing wrong. Aaron Rodger went 31-of-36 passes (86.1 percent) for 366 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions for a 136.8 passer rating. On third down Rodgers was off the charts going 10-for-10 on third down for 151 yards, with eight of those throws going for first downs as the Packers finished the night 8-of-12 (66.7 percent) on third down.

How many times did Rodgers' legs help avoid blitzing Falcon defenders?

Another Episode Of The Brett Farve Soap Opera

Brett Favre arrived in Green Bay yesterday to report to training camp. Favre will be officially reinstated on the Packers roster at 1:30pm est today. With Favre in town it seems the Packers attitude is changing. Since the team couldn’t pay Favre to say retired, they now welcome him back. You can read the A.P. story here from the Green Bay Press Gazette.

Now there will be a quarterback competition in Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers is ready to fight for the starters job the head coach Mike McCarthy has said is his. Rodgers acknowledges that it’s going to be a dogfight.

Brett Favre has started more games consecutively that any other quarterback in the NFL. To keep that streak alive, he will have to earn it in camp and beat out Rodgers. McCarthy has made ”no promises” to Favre.

"Sixteen years after Brett Favre came to the Packers, he is returning for a seventeenth season. He has had a great career with our organization and although we built this year around the assumption that Brett meant what he said about retiring, Brett is coming back. We will welcome him back and turn this situation to our advantage."Frankly, Brett’s change of mind put us in a very difficult spot. We now will revise many actions and assumptions about our long-term future, all predicated on Brett’s decision last March to retire. As a result of his decision, we invested considerably in a new and different future without Brett and we were obviously moving in that direction. That’s why this wasn’t easy. Having crossed the Rubicon once when Brett decided to retire, it’s very difficult to reorient our plans and cross it again in the opposite direction – but we’ll put this to our advantage."Brett will be in camp tomorrow. Although there has been uncertainty regarding Brett’s return, Ted Thompson and Coach McCarthy had previously discussed this and have had a plan in place. Coach McCarthy will talk to the team and the quarterbacks about the plan moving forward, and after he has done that we will share it publicly."No matter what, I look forward to another successful season for the Packers and our fans. This has been a tough situation, but the Packers will make the most of it."

Favre, Packers at Stalemate

OK, Green Bay GM Ted Thompson and head coach Mike McCarthy have refused to grant QB Brett Favre's unconditional release, making him a free agent.

Brett has two choices right now as a Packer:
#1. Stay retired.
#2. Come back to the Packers for one more season, as Aaron Rodgers' backup.

Not gonna happen. Favre is NO ONE's backup.

As a business decision, it is smart for Green Bay not to release Favre. Of course, they don't want him playing for a team in their division. From a team standpoint, standing by Rodgers is a good thing. Imagine how you'd feel if you had been named the probable starter for a team, and they go bring back the former QB and certain Hall-of-Famer to back you up. That would shatter my confidence, having to look over my shoulder all season long.

I think Green Bay should keep Favre, and trade him for something other than this soap opera. Right now, all Packers' fans are getting from Favre is heartburn.

Brett, either go to Jolly Roger and get re-instated, or shut up and stay retired.
