NFL Playoffs: It's Chicago and The Jets (?)

The first game on Sunday was to determine if the Seattle Seahawks could make it:
A) To .500 and,
B) The NFC title game at Soldier Field...

Didn't happen...

Jay Cutler ran for two touchdowns and threw for two as Chicago and Green Bay will play for the 182nd time next Sunday- but their first meeting for the NFC title.

The Bears won 35-24...

The Packers lost to the Bears 33-14 at Wrigley Field a week to the day after Pearl Harbor in their only previous playoff meeting. Green Bay beat Chicago 10-3 in the season finale this season to clinch a playoff spot earlier this month. The Packers haven't been to the Super Bowl since the 1997 season, when they lost to Denver.

And it'll be the Patriots smelling the agony of de-feet in their 28-21 loss to the New York Jets Sunday...

Jeff Howe of NESN.com found out that the call was Chung's to make...
"We trust the decision Patrick makes," Mesko said. "It just didn’t work out in that particular occasion. That’s why the coaches trust him to run it, and that's why they give him the green light, if he has it."

Mesko said the play was implemented in training camp, and it's the first time it was run this season. Chung has the green light from the coaching staff to call for the direct snap by making a signal at the line.

"It would have definitely swung momentum our way if we could have marched down and take the lead into the half," Mesko said.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was asked about the fake punt after the game.

"We just made a bad mistake," said Belichick, who wouldn't add anything else about the play

So now you get to root for a loudmouth with an alleged foot fetish or a QB who was alleged to have done some not-so-nice things in rural Georgia over the summer...

And it seems the Jets post-game celebration was way to over the top for the Patriots. Comcast Sportsnet New England is reporting that according to tweets written by fans Jets coaches were flipping the bird to Pats fans.

NFL Playoffs: Steelers Rally Over Rival Ravens

This is going to get Tom Brady and Petyon Manning fans mad but can you find a better big game quarterback than Ben Roethlisberger.

Saturday Roethlisberger again led the Pittsburgh Steelers to a playoff win over the Baltimore Ravens 31-24. Roethlisberger was 19-32 passing for 226 yards and two touchdowns. Roethliberger's biggest throw of the game can with less than two minutes left connecting for 58 yards to Antonio Brown.

"Let's just chuck it deep," Roethlisberger told offensive coordinator Bruce Arians just before he threw his biggest pass of the season. "If they pick it, it will be a pick way down there, just as good as a punt. ... I just throw it as far as I can.'"

"It was kind of amazing," Brown said. "It kind of stuck to my shoulder."

Five plays later Rashard Mendenhall bulled his way in the end zone for the game winner.

NFL Playoffs: Packers, Rodgers Shoot Down The Falcons

Pardon Atlanta Falcons fans if they have visions of 30 years ago. The 1980 Falcons had the best record in the NFL heading into the playoffs but had nothing to show for it. Danny White led the Dallas Cowboys to a come-from-behind win in the Divisional Playoff. Do you remember? This will help. Vin Scully and George Allen were in the booth for CBS Sports. 30 years later the Falcons had the best record in the NFC, home field advantage throughout the playoffs and will have nothing to show for it.

The Green Bay Packers destroyed the Falcons 48-21, or should I say Aaron Rodgers did it.

The Packers quarterback could do nothing wrong. Aaron Rodger went 31-of-36 passes (86.1 percent) for 366 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions for a 136.8 passer rating. On third down Rodgers was off the charts going 10-for-10 on third down for 151 yards, with eight of those throws going for first downs as the Packers finished the night 8-of-12 (66.7 percent) on third down.

How many times did Rodgers' legs help avoid blitzing Falcon defenders?

"Aaron Rodgers was excellent today." Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said. "His ability to play a run/pass mix, especially in the first three quarters, was impressive. In or outside the pocket, he was on fire."

"I just got into a rhythm not only throwing the football but moving around in the pocket." Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said. "It’s just a special night.”

Jumping On The Jets Bandwagon

I am officially on board the New York Jets bandwagon. Heck I have a Jets jersey and cap in my closet all because my father in law, a passionate Jets fan, has been trying to convert me for years. Well my team is out of the playoffs so it's time to put the stuff to good use.

Who gave the Jets a chance to win at San Diego? Even the most optimistic Jet fan (now that's an oxymoron) felt it was an up hill battle. San Diego was the hottest team in the NFL.

Rex Ryan's team stuck to it's game plan, scored three times on offense, controlled the clock with it's running game, got a big play on defense thanks to an interception by who else, Darrelle Reavis and suddenly the New York Jets are in the AFC Championship Game.

Who do the Jets face, the Indianapolis Colts. Jet fans having 1969 flashbacks? You kids check the history books, The New York Jets upset the heavily favored Baltimore Colts 16-7 in Super Bowl III. It was considered the biggest upset in sports history until the USA hockey team beat the Soviet Union in the 1980 Winter Olympics. Your homework is to read up on that game.

The circumstances are different but here are the Jets facing the Colts as a heavy underdog in a championship setting.

Will Mark Sanchez guarantee victory?

Ochocinco's Knee Is Fine, At Least In The Bedroom

Remember Sunday night when Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco injured his left knee in pre-game warm ups and was ineffective against the New York Jets? (and Darrelle Revis had no impact, right.)

Well apparently the knee is fine according 85, who tested the knee Monday.

"I had sex yesterday,'' the Bengals receiver said. "With some of the moves I did -- I should be fine."

Those of us in the OSG HQ say way too much information.
