Did you know the Pro Bowl was played Sunday?

For all the undying love and adulation that the NFL receives, it's always been befuddling as to why nobody watches their All-Star game. The NFL Pro-Bowl, while a nice trip to Hawaii and great honor for those players not in the Super Bowl, is a complete and absolute dud for TV viewers.

In case you were wondering, they played the game on Sunday and the NFC won 55-41 after getting an early 42-0 lead. Your MVP, the insufferable DeAngelo Hall of the Redskins.

We don't know, save one of our friends, who actually watched the game, broadcast by FOX as part of their turn broadcasting the Super Bowl.

In case you missed them...and we're guessing most of you did, here are your highlights:



We question as to whether the NFL should consider scrapping this game. Sure, its a great trip and honor for the participants like we said earlier, but how do you sell it to a mass market? It comes the week before the Super Bowl. And in the case of this year, the Super Bowl may be the last NFL game we see in awhile.

Falcons Coach Mike Smith fined more than Hall

This is sort of funny. Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Mike Smith was fined $15k for his role in a sideline skirmish in last weeks Falcons/Redskins game. We showed you the video and talked about the incident on Monday HERE on OSG Sports.

We want to say that this is laughable, but we do actually understand why Smith got fined. Right or not, you as a coach can't be sticking your nose in scuffle's like that. However...Smith, who is already loved in the Falcons locker room, in the team offices and pretty much by anyone who has ever had the good fortune to interact with him; only helped his reputation by defending his players and fighting off the advances of a completely overrated douche-bag, one DeAngelo Hall.

As for the aforementioned Douchebag, Mr. Hall; though he wasn't fined unlike the others involved in the incident, he should perhaps be concerned that well...none of his teammates stood up for him. That goes back to his days as a Falcon, where he acquired the name "MeAngelo". Having an attitude like his is all well and good if you can back it up with your game, however Hall, though he thinks he can, never really has and has only gotten worse as his career has sunk from alleged "Pro Bowl" status, to journeyman Cornerback.

We generally don't like taking shots at people on these pages, however Hall is more than deserving of such treatment. He has continually mouthed about how "Poorly" the Falcons treated him by trading him. No, MeAngelo, you really don't get it. Sometimes its not about how you play against other teams, it's how you play with your "Own" team. Think about it.

This Is Rich: DeAngelo Hall Wants Justice...

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall says Atlanta coach Mike Smith cussed him out and a Falcons assistant tried to "get some licks in" on the sidelines Sunday.

Hall said he plans to file a complaint with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that Smith "cussed me out" and Falcons director of athletic performance Jeff Fish and others "put their hands on me."

"After that, coach Smith came over to me, talking shit to me, saying they were going to kick my ass," Hall said. "I stay in Atlanta during the offseason, so if Mike Smith wants to see me, he can definitely find me."

And, then, to finish...after you've stopped laughing...
"I'm going to get on the horn with commissioner Goodell and we're going to figure out a way how to nip this in the bud," Hall said. "It's different with me coming in trying to break stuff up and as a strength coach, if you coming at me and you're trying to get licks, that ain't how you do things. "They need to have some repercussions and something needs to happen to them, too."

Has anyone ever thought to give DeAngelo Hall a 2-liter of shut-the-hell-up juice at checkout time...??? But it is good to know that he and the Commissioner are on such good speaking terms these days...

Those of us at OSG HQ thought he was perfect for the Raiders locker room, but he even screwed that one up...

That's where cancers go to spend their dying days as players, right...??? Oakland...??? And MeAngelo got out of that one...

Remember, he was one of the Falcons to wear support for Michael Vick under his jersey the first time the Falcons were televised after all that stuff went down in Virginia- flashing his version of "Free Winona" to the entire world.

That is enough said...
But we do agree that we all need repercussions every now and then...

Organizers Plan Vick "Celebration" Next Weekend

Some residents of Michael Vick's hometown are preparing a "celebration" for the former NFL quarterback, and Vick is expected to make an appearance at the event, an organizer said Friday.

The event is being sponsored by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. The SCLC chapter president in Vick's hometown of Newport News, Andrew Shannon, said Vick is scheduled to speak at the event intended to promote Martin Luther King Jr.'s teachings of nonviolence.

"We believe (Vick) has made atonement and we are hopeful that the public at large gives this young man a chance to move forward with his life," Shannon said.

He said he expects anywhere from 500 to 1,000 people to attend the family oriented event, which will feature face painting, pony rides, music and other festivities. Retailer DTLR was also among the organizers.

"It was his idea," John Eley, one of the organizers, told The Associated Press on Friday. "Vick wanted to give back to the community, like he always does."

The Aug. 8 event will include Vick, who grew up on the city's tough east side, Eley said. He said the city was providing a tent and chairs for the "Michael Vick Community Celebration."

Andrew Shannon, the local SCLC president, did not immediately return telephone messages left by The Associated Press. Calls and e-mails to Vick's attorneys and his family also were not returned.

Vick has been conditionally reinstated in the NFL after completing a 23-month federal sentence for running a dogfighting ring.

Eley said many in Newport News have remained loyal to Vick, who he said donated toys and sports uniforms to needy children in the community as his fortunes rose in the NFL.

"He's an awesome guy," said Eley, a hair stylist who described himself as a friend. "I think he deserves a second chance. We all make mistakes."

Eley said Vick's interest in the celebration was inspired, in part, by a "Community Hug for Michael Vick," a July 2007 event that was intended to show the city's solidarity with Vick. About 100 people attended.

It was held the same month Vick and three others were charged with federal dogfighting charges.

Bye, Bye Me-Angelo!

This may not mean a whole lot to anyone outside of Atlanta Falcons fans and Oakland Raiders fans, but apparently the Legendary (in his mind) Cornerback DeAngelo Hall is no longer with the Raiders.

Hall doesn't leave poor, $8 million for 8 games, but he does leave looking for work. The big question mark is what team would be willing to take on a guy who really believes he is the second coming of Deion Sanders while playing a lot like Lewis Sanders.

DeAngelo will forever be know in Atlanta as Me-Angelo and for his monumental temper tantrum in 2007 against the Carolina Panthers and Steve Smith. He's now known in Oakland as a guy who got paid way too much to do something he wasn't capable of doing. Who knows, maybe this will humble Hall a bit. He's still young (24) and has great speed and at times has flashed some skills, but in an era where most NFL teams are looking for character guys, he may be out of work for a while. But, hey, he cashed in, let's see how long that lasts.
