Sinclair Broadcast says it has bought the "Ring of Honor" wrestling outfit and will start showing matches on its stations in September as part of their new programming additions.
ROH has a weekly TV show and also does the standard amount of PPV and DVD sales like everyone else...
Steve Marks, chief operating officer of Sinclair's television group, says the deal gives Sinclair multiple revenue streams, such as "advertising, product sponsorships, Internet pay-per-view, live wrestling tour events and sales of DVDs and other merchandise."
Sinclair owns 58 television stations in 35 markets, most of them in the eastern half of the U.S., as well as Texas, Oklahoma and Nevada and they may eventually syndicate Ring of Honor themselves to other non-Sinclair markets.
The HQ shudders at the thought of the folks that tried the whole "Media Central" idea getting into wrestling syndication. But for Sinclair, the bottom line is cheap entertainment... just like cheap news...

Wrestlers Use "Hypno-Tosis..." To Win Match...

The HQ has long been disappointed at the state of professional wrestling and its inherent entertainment value...
There are very few wrestlers that know how to "work the stick" as we say...
Kinda like this...

Entertaining...? To a degree...
Odd...? You bet...
Um... sure...

Jake "The Snake" Roberts Was "Drugged"
At the Firestorm Pro Wrestling Show in Ohio on Friday night, the master of the DDT finishing move, Jake "The Snake" Roberts had a bad night.
In the video below ((Thanks, the youtube)) Jake cuts a promo before his match with someone who goes by the name of JT Lightning. Jake then goes through the match, goes over clean, Lightning cuts a promo, and then it gets more interesting outside the arena.
Word from Snake's camp today ((HT: 411mania.com)) maintains the pride of Stone Mountain, Georgia was drugged. Okay, we'll bite...
"He has been home since Saturday afternoon about 4:30PM and up until last night about 8:30PM, had not eaten or slept. His standard answer for everything the last two days has been 'I don't know.'
"That is the other side of the story, folks, believe it or not, it is certainly your choice. I'm dealing with the guy they sent home, and folks, it is frightening to both me, and to him, and really not much fun. To the guy's that did this, and I say this often when confronted with sub-human behavior, something I see far too often I'm sorry to say, God's a funny guy. You'll get yours, I have no doubt at all."

JT Lightning, who claims to be a 16-year veteran in the business and "was tired of carrying ((Jake's)) ass" has a myspace page account of the whole thing...

The last part of this whole mess, that can't be verified yet, was that at some point Jake went all Jim-Morrison-in-Miami on the crowd... most just wished he'd worn a t-shirt to the ring or something...
