Dave Hooker adds that Kippy Brown was interviewed Friday afternoon. It was scheduled for a 1PM meeting with Vols AD Mike Hamilton. Whether or not the meeting went off on time is uncertain...
Chris Low is now in on the fray...
Low reports that Temple's Al Golden and Sumlin interviewed in Atlanta Thursday along with Derek Dooley. Hamilton and UT's most influential booster, Jim Haslam, reportedly flew to Ruston, Louisiana to try and seal the deal...
OSG Sports has attempted to track any and all flights leaving McGhee Tyson-Knoxville and nothing registers to the Ruston or Shreveport airports for this afternoon...

It's Kippy's Turn To Talk To Vol Brass...

According to sources close to what's left of the Volunteers head coach search, it's Kippy Brown's time today to tell AD Mike Hamilton why he should have the job full-time... at least in the interim...
The names left on the list look like this:
Derek Dooley, Kevin Steele, Lovie Smith, Kyle Whittingham, Randy Edsall, Jason Garrett, and, hell, we'll throw the HQ's hat into the ring for consideration...
We have no head coaching experience. But our BS-Coefficient is very low and we know the SEC, its players, and the high school kids...
We won't talk on a cell phone during a press conference, and we know what it takes to win...
How 'bout it there, Mike...
The HQ thinks you can eliminate Dooley, Whittingham, and Edsall because it's too close to signing day. Jason Garrett can't be talked to until the season is over for the Cowboys- which could be a while.
That leaves, Steele, Lovie, and Kippy...
Steele's an assistant. It would be easy for him to blow...
Lovie may be looking to blow since the Bears are DOA without Urlacher on defense.
But Kippy is already there and is in place. He knows the kids who played and should have a decent handle on the recruiting base with Signing Day approaching quickly.
If AD Hamilton is interested in losing what kids he has left and the LOI's, then by all means get someone from the outside. This is the easiest and most sane play for now- that is until Phil Fulmer gets your job from you...
