Palm Beach Dwyer ((FL)) High School tight end Nick O'Leary, the USA's top recruit at his position, has been suspended for two games for flipping off the entire state of Ohio at a game at the Horseshoe- according to the Palm Beach Post.
O'Leary was "sanctioned" by the Florida High School Athletic Association for actions after a game against Cleveland Glenville High.
The FHSAA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Dwyer lost to Glenville 26-22 Monday, although television replays showed Dwyer scored what should have been the go-ahead touchdown in the final minutes of the game which was broadcast on national television.

OSG High: 10 Ohio High Schoolers Busted At Underage Party

Some Grove City High School ((OH)) football players could be done for the year- just as the football season started. They were among a couple a dozen teens accused of underage drinking at a house party over the weekend.
Grove City's high school football team played its first game in two years on Friday after the program was cut because of funding.
Police received a tip that an underage drinking party was going on at a house and when officers showed up, they observed a lot of people drinking that were not of legal age.
Officers counted 39 people at the party, but no adults were around. 28 of the 39could face underage drinking charges, and at least ten of them may be football players for Grove City.
"This was a situation where the parents were out of town," said Grove City police Captain Steven Robinette. "They were under the belief that their daughter was staying with another responsible adult and somewhere in the evening, their daughter used a house to host this party."

Ickey Woods' Son Dies From Asthma Attack

The son of Bengals running back Ickey Woods, 16 year-old Jovante "Joe" Woods died after being on life support since Wednesday.
A junior at Cincinnati-Princeton High School, the younger Woods was on the football and track teams and carried a 3.8 GPA.
During a press conference Saturday night, AD Scott Kaufman says Woods went 30 minutes without oxygen due to an asthma attack. That lack of oxygen caused swelling in his brain, which led to brain damage. He was put on a ventilator at a local hospital.
Tests were performed Saturday and those results showed no improvement or activity in his brain since Wednesday. He died shortly after the final test was performed when he was taken off the ventilator.
Kaufman says when he left the hospital, Joe Woods' parents told him, "God has a plan."
Saturday night, the family released that their son was an organ donor.
Princeton Football held a scrimmage Saturday with school starting Monday and counselors will be on hand if needed. Funeral arrangements have not been released.

Ickey Woods' Son On Life Support

Princeton ((OH)) High School athletic officials say Jovante "Joe" Woods, the son of Bengals running back Ickey Woods, was hospitalized Wednesday after an asthma attack.
Woods practiced with the team Wednesday morning, but it's thought that heat and poor air quality likely made Joe's condition worsen.
What triggered the initial asthma attack remains unknown. The Woods' lack health insurance and a fund has been set up at local Cincinnati banks to help defray costs.

OSU Recruit Upgraded To Stable After Shooting

Looks like Ohio State football recruit Jamel Turner will survive multiple gunshot wounds suffered early Saturday. He was upgraded to critical but stable condition Sunday morning. As in the case with most shootings, the first 24 hours were critical for Turner's survival, and it looks like he's stable for now.
Turner's family now has requested that no more information be given out- which is understandable...

"I'm so sad to hear of Jamel's misfortune," said Ohio State coach Jim Tressel, in a statement released on Saturday night. "I have not communicated with Jamel, but am certainly praying for him at this time."
Turner was also shot back in April but recovered from his injuries. Youngstown police are not linking the two shootings as of the present time...

Matt James: Saturday PM Update- A "Tragic Accident"
Panama City, Florida police held an afternoon press conference detailing the circumstances surrounding the death of Notre Dame signee Matt James.
Police did not use James' name during the presser. They only would refer to him as a "17-year-old from Ohio who had signed with Notre Dame."
The details given by police major David Humphries are disappointing if true...
"Witnesses and friends indicate he had become drunk and belligerent," Humphreys said. "He had leaned over the balcony rail, was shaking his finger at the people in the next room over. He fell over."
Naturally, Humphries said police would be interested in pursuing charges against those who interacted with James if it was learned who provided him with the alcohol that led to the death Friday.
"It appears to be a tragic accident," Humphreys said...

Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly sent out the following statement on the death of incoming freshman Matt Kelly. Kelly died falling from a hotel balcony last night while on Spring Break in Panama City, Florida.
"The Notre Dame football program is in a state of disbelief and incredible sadness with the news of this tragic event,” Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly said.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Matt James in this most trying of times. “On a personal level, I got to know Matt quite well over the past few years and he was a wonderful young man from a great family. Matt was an extremely talented person who was very bright and possessed a great dry sense of humor. He could not wait to join the Notre Dame family.
“My prayers and deepest condolences go out to the James family as well as the St. Xavier High School and Cincinnati communities.”

St. Xavier students gathered at the high school Friday evening. Candles were lighted and students shared their memories of Matt before saying prayers.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the James family," says Mark Motz, St. Xavier director of communications and publications. "The entire James family- immediate and extended- has always been good to St. X. We hope we can be comfort in their time of need. We are a faith community and this is certainly is a test of that faith, but we will get through it together. We are all devastated by the news, but grateful for the gift of having Matt as an Xavier man."
A Facebook group honoring James has over 3,200 members as of Saturday morning.

One of the country’s top high school senior football recruits died in a fall from a motel balcony during Spring Break.
17-year-old Matt James of Cincinnati died Friday night after falling from the third floor balcony of the Days Inn Motel on Front Beach Road in Panama City Beach, Florida. Police said the initial indications are the teenager fell over the balcony railing of his motel room and, apparently, died instantly.
Police say they could not publicly confirm the identity of the teenager because relatives had not been formally notified. But WCPO-TV in Cincinnati indicates the victim was James.
He attended St. Xavier High School where he was a 6’7”, 280 pound offensive tackle. He had been recruited by Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, Florida State, Miami and North Carolina. He considered in-state schools, Cincinnati and Ohio State, before signing on with the Notre Dame on National Signing Day.
