"Runaway Lane"- The Lyrical Version...

Leave it to Verno to bust thing out in song...

It's another damn funny song from the mind of Chris Vernon and his Memphis mafia...

Go here... quickly...

There's even a cameo from VernOrgeron...

Loose Lips Tattle On Orgeron... Muschamp Staying In Austin...

Yeah, we admittedly mixed our metaphors on that one...

Remember all the talk yesterday about former Tennessee, now-current USC assistant coach Ed Orgeron talking to recruits...???

Stories differed on what the topics were about- whether or not he wanted Vol early enrolls not to attend class, whether he only gave advice in a time of turmoil...

We have another round of confirmations... which wil turn in to another round of denials by the Garrett-Kiffin Alliance of Doom...

Lance Pugmire and Ben Bolch of the LA Times caught up with the parents of UT QB-hopeful Tyler Bray. The Bray family moved from California to try and play college signal-caller on the other end of the world...

Jeff Bray said his son, former Kingsburg (Calif.) High quarterback Tyler Bray, was in a room Tuesday when Orgeron made his pitch to a group of players via speaker phone.

"He didn't think it was very cool," Jeff Bray said of his son's reaction to the presentation. "You're in the middle of all this turmoil and they're trying to pull players.... My understanding was a lot of (the players) got very angry and voiced their anger on the phone."

The Kiffin Coronation In Los Angeles... Orgeron Already Recruiting From UT...

Here it is...

Thanks to our friends at KCBS-TV in Los Angeles...

The HQ's favorite part of the press conference had to be when Kiffin was forced to address two topics about ten minutes in: the possibility that Ed Orgeron was calling recruits and telling them not to go to class Wednesday and the idea that Kiffin was ((or would)) running a "clean program."

"I don't know if that's accurate," Kiffin said on the idea of Orgeron's phone calls. "The information I have is that it's inaccurate."

Dave Hooker's article from govolsxtra.com reveals multiple sources telling him that, in fact, did happen...

Orgeron acknowledged, later in the day, speaking to several members of the Volunteers' recruiting class, but claimed he only gave them information requested by their families. Coach "O" also said that he would not actively recruit them away from Tennessee.

"We will not [recruit Tennessee-committed players], unless a guy would call us and say he's interested in us," said Orgeron in a statement remarkably similar to one Kiffin said during his presser:

"We're not going to recruit them. If they call me we'll, then, look in to it."

This is the HQ holding its collective breath on that one...

Wednesday Kiffin Carousel Update... Tennessee Is Still Angry...And Maybe Courting Fulmer...

First and foremost, this is what happens when Vol fans have too much time to drink, think, and releive themselves...

The language is so NSFW, it's probably NC-17...

Dave Hooker has a story up on govolsxtra that says Ed Orgeron called Tennessee enrollees and told them not to go to class... If they did attend, they would have had to follow transfer guidelines if they chose to go to Southern Cal.

Apparently, after Pete Carroll left to take the job with the Seattle Seahawks, Kiffin was contacted Tuesday with an offer from SC. Vols AD Mike Hamilton asked if there was anything that could be done. Kiffin answer was obvious.

Hamilton also said that he was not aware of a report from ESPN's Gene Wojcieckowski that claims some of the more high-falooting members of the Board of Trustees have contacted Philip Fulmer about returning as either AD or head coach- not both. Fulmer, according to those same reports, showed interest.

Wojciechowski also reports that the meeting between Kiffin and his players was contentious, bordering hostile, and that Kippy Brown calmed matters down.

More when we have more...

Kiffin's Exit Getting More and More Bizzare

As the College Football world woke up Wednesday morning and tried to make sense of the Kiffin's hasty exit from Tennessee as the new Head Coach at USC, several interesting and in some cases weird stories are starting to pop up.

((Lane Kiffin doesn't want to face the mob outside//Courtesy: Adam Brimer/Knoxville News-Sentinel))

Case in point. This story from WATE-TV on the impact of this with recruits RIGHT HERE . There are multiple reports that Kiffin's chief henchman Ed Orgeron has been telling UT recruits, some of whom were about to enroll early..."Don't go to class, come with us". In fact, in the story, recruit Brandon Willis confirms that he was asked to go. He declined, though he didn't early enroll, he now wants to figure out what he will do.

According to the guy who hired Kiffin, the subject of Kiffin going to USC came up on Saturday. Check out the story from govolsextra.com RIGHT HERE.

According to WVLT-TV and several other outlets, Kiffykins is obligated to pay UT $800,ooo for bailing out on them. In the world of College Football, that ain't much and often the payment never happens.

For those who are interested, WVLT also posted a copy of the contract...check it out HERE.

ESPN's Gene Wojciechowski joins the masses piling on Kifikins and adds that his sources say that the Board of Trustee's has already been in contact with the Great Pumpkin, Phillip Fulmer, about coming back to be the AD...Check it out RIGHT HERE though he buried that part until later in the story.

It should be interesting to see how a guy who may or may not get his "Now" previous employer on NCAA probation, reacts to going to a school where more than likely, they will be going on Probation. At the very least, this keeps those of us in the blogging world busy on a cold winter day.

There will apparently be a press conference in L.A introducing the newest Trojan Man sometime later this afternoon so stay tuned, we expect this won't story won't be going away for awhile.

BREAKING NEWS: Kiffy-Kins To USC... WTF!!! Getting The Band Back Together...

((HT: ESPN/Chris Low Knoxville News-Sentinel WATE-TV))

In what was, probably, Tennessee AD Mike Hamilton's reaction to this whole thing...

This transfer of power comes as an absolute game-changer... Low reports that Lane and Monte Kiffin, along with Ed Orgeron, will head back to central Los Angeles.

Vols WR coach Kippy Brown becomes the interim head coach in Knoxville...

The HQ has to give USC AD Mike Garrett a lot of credit for this play, which completely sends an entire state into a tailspin... and subsequent hissy fit of biblical proportions...

Kiffin held a 9:30PM media briefing for the local press. No live cameras and transmission were allowed at the event- presumably so no one knew when the flaming pitch forks and lynch mobs could be allowed on campus.

"This was not an easy decision. It's something that happened very quick," Kiffin said. "This was not an easy decision. I really believe this is the only place I would have left to go."

Wanna see what Kiffin's contract was like at Tennessee, here you go...

According to Articles 16 and 17 of the deal he has with the University of Tennessee, Kiffin is set to pay "liquidated damages" to the school...

Since it was in the first year, Kiffin is liable for $1-million payable over a three-year period...provided Kiffin gives 30 days written notice...

945 EDT UPDATE: ESPN's Shelley Smith relays that Norm Chow is heading from UCLA back to USC as part of the package deal to be the Offensive Coordinator...

So USC has Kiffin, Kiffin, Orgeron, and Chow as of this moment in a very fluid situation. Kiffin ((the younger)) had, apparently called a 9PM team meeting to break the news...

Kiffin's Rules

More Trouble in Rocky Top...

Just when you think that new Tennessee Football Coach Lane Kiffin couldn't do anything else stupid, new problems come out. Apparently since he and his coaching staff seem to operate the way they want rather than the way the NCAA mandates it, the school had to report not 1, but 2 violations of the rules.

Check out the story in the Knoxville News-Sentinel here

Kiffin, who is already in trouble with the SEC for mouthing off about Urban Meyer, probably will not get in a ton of trouble over this. In fact, he along with recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron have already been issued letters of "Admonishment" over the issue.

What the University might need to be concerned about here is that Kiffin and his Coaches seem to be operating in a universe of there own. While this may "Rile" up the fan base (maybe) it is beginning to develop as a pattern here for blatent disregard of how to operate. Who knows, maybe they really were ignorant of the rules and didn't know they couldn't have a "Fake Press Conference" or that you "Can't poor mouth another teams Coach", we don't know, we aren't privvy to their conversations. What we can say is be careful, while Kiffin may be a good football coach...he may be getting Tennessee into more trouble than even they can stomach.
