TWTW: Auburn Comes From Behind Again, Survives USC

Okay, full disclosure here...
After the game with your Shorter Hawks won in overtime over Georgetown 47-46 in OT, it was a two-and-a-half hour drive for yours truly to the Plains and the South Carolina game with TBH.

The HQ ran into The Chiz in Columbus the night before at a high school game and after volunteering a "War Cam Eagle," he said "I wouldn't go there yet."

After 334 yards of responsible offense, we may be getting closer...

Down 20-7, the Tigers came back again to win 35-27...
And there were plenty of gray hairs to go around after that as the Auburn faithful prepare for Louisiana-Monroe...

The larger questions... what happens when Arkansas is on the docket...???
Answer: Make everything happen in front of you...

Question 2: Does Stephen Garcia know who he is, and more accurately, does he know where he is after getting knocked silly by the Auburn defense...???
Answer: Probably, not... that is why Flowery Branch ((GA)) HS grad Connor Shaw will get more reps at QB in the near future...

More Slive, I Say...

So, one of the planet's biggest power brokers continues power brokering for another couple of years...

No real surprise considering all he's been able to do for the folks he works with...

Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive ((pictured, thanks SEC)) has agreed to a three-year contract extension. Slive, 68, will have presided over the powerhouse league for 10 years when the deal ends on July 31, 2012.

The SEC, which announced the extension on Thursday, has recently signed lucrative 15-year deals with CBS and ESPN to broadcast games in various sports.

Slive has implemented policies to assist league schools in rules compliance and enforcement, and SEC teams have won 21 men's and 23 women's national championships during his reign.

Slive has also served as coordinator of the Bowl Championship Series and is currently the chair of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee. He served on the Commission of Athletic Opportunity from 2002-03.

"Commissioner Slive has been an absolutely great addition to our conference," said University of Kentucky and Southeastern Conference President Dr. Lee T. Todd. "He is providing great vision and directing the SEC to a new prominence in college athletics. I am thrilled we have locked him in to lead our conference for years to come."

"I am gratified that the Presidents and Chancellors have extended my contract and I am honored to serve as the Commissioner of the Southeastern Conference," said Slive. "We have accomplished many of our goals since my arrival in 2002 and there will be new challenges and goals to meet in the future. I look forward to these challenges as we continue to make the SEC one of the nation's top intercollegiate athletic conferences."

Kiffin's Rules

More Trouble in Rocky Top...

Just when you think that new Tennessee Football Coach Lane Kiffin couldn't do anything else stupid, new problems come out. Apparently since he and his coaching staff seem to operate the way they want rather than the way the NCAA mandates it, the school had to report not 1, but 2 violations of the rules.

Kiffin, who is already in trouble with the SEC for mouthing off about Urban Meyer, probably will not get in a ton of trouble over this. In fact, he along with recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron have already been issued letters of "Admonishment" over the issue.

What the University might need to be concerned about here is that Kiffin and his Coaches seem to be operating in a universe of there own. While this may "Rile" up the fan base (maybe) it is beginning to develop as a pattern here for blatent disregard of how to operate. Who knows, maybe they really were ignorant of the rules and didn't know they couldn't have a "Fake Press Conference" or that you "Can't poor mouth another teams Coach", we don't know, we aren't privvy to their conversations. What we can say is be careful, while Kiffin may be a good football coach...he may be getting Tennessee into more trouble than even they can stomach.
