A lot of people had South Florida taking out the fighting Irish... it took almost six hours through two weather delays, but it finally happened. And it took USF about six hours to print the t-shirt...
 

And the HQ also knows that Richmond is a class-A I-AA outfit while Dook is a perpetual struggler in the Aay-Cee-Cee...

TWTW: The State Of Oregon Does What It's Supposed To... Beavers Beat Arizona, Oregon Over Wazzu

The biggest question for the Oregon-Wazzu game is: Why in the blue hell would the Cougars schedule the Oregon Ducks for homecoming...???

A couple of issues here after the 43-23 win, where the Ducks were listed as a 36-point favorite..

Backup quarterback Nate Costa played the final three quarter after Darron Thomas left with an apparent shoulder injury.

The Ducks were also without backup running back Kenjon Barner for most of the game after getting the worst of a head-to-head collision on a first-quarter kickoff return.

Second, so much for Arizona being unbeatable this year...
Ryan Katz threw for 393 yards and two touchdowns as the Oregon Staters upset Arizona and won for the fifth time in a row in the series, 29-27...

The Wildcats, now 4-1, were in the top 10 for the first time since the 1999 preseason rankings. Oregon State, now 3-2, lost standout receiver James Rodgers to a knee injury in the second quarter on a bogus tackle in the endzone as he scored...

Rodgers was hog-collared, clearly after he crossed the plane on an apparent score, and the HQ clearly understands the whole "momentum" thing. But there should have been a flag, and Rodgers may even get a medical redshirt because of this...

At the very least, he's gone for a while...

TWTW: Boise Beats Beavers

And we all know that is not necessarily nice to beat a Beaver...

Oregon State head coach Mike Riley decided to paint his practice field blue to prepare for his trip to Boise. It didn't work all that well...

Kellen Moore went 19 of 27 passes for 288 yards, throwing for 3TD's. Doug Martin ran for 138 yards and Boise beat Oregon State 37-24. Boise State's home-winning streak is now at 57...

JerryWorld Hosts Dalton Beating Beavers 30-21

Andy Dalton ran for two touchdowns and threw for another score to make up for his two interceptions and 6th-ranked TCU opened the season with a 30-21 victory over 24th-ranked Oregon State.

Dalton became TCU's winningest quarterback, his 30th victory snapping a tie with "Slingin' Sammy" Baugh, who had held the record since the mid-1930s.

Tyler Thomas of Oregon State is in a lot of trouble....

Okay, this is alternately sad and funny and pathetic at the same time. Tyler Thomas, a 19-year old offensive lineman at...well, formerly an offensive lineman for Oregon State was kicked off the team for a rather lengthy list of legal issues.

Thomas' latest problem. He was arrested for being naked in the upstairs office of a 32-year old woman's home in Corvallis, Oregon.

It gets stranger. When police showed up and tried to get Thomas to get on the floor, he apparently got on the floor, assumed a 3-point stance and tried to either block or plow over the officers. Needless to say, that didn't go over so well.

The good news is coach Mike Riley didn't waste any more time making Thomas go away. It almost sounds like the type of incident you would see in a movie about College Football players...like the program...

TWTW: BYU Passes Jacquizz 42-20 In Vegas

Max Hall threw for 192 yards and three TDs leading Number 15 BYU past Number 16 Oregon State 44-20 in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Hall gave the Cougars their third win in five straight bowl appearances in Vegas and ended the Beavers' run of five consecutive bowl wins.

So, I guess we figured out which version of the Cougars showed up...
The one that didn't lose to Florida State...

MOUNTAIN WEST RIVALS LIKE WHAT THEY SAW IN VEGAS:

It's long be an argurment here at the OSG HQ that the Mountain West Conference should be in the BCS. All the conference's member institutions do is kick the ass of the only Western league in the BCS, the Pac 10.

Colorado State head coach Steve Fairchild watched the game and tweeted this:

"Outstanding job by Coach Mendenhall and BYU, embarrassing a ranked Pac 10 team in Vegas Bowl. BCS can't continue to keep us out! rediculous!"

TWTW: Oregon Wins Civil War For The Roses

Oregon survived the "Civil War" game with Oregon State 37-33 and punched their ticket to the Rose Bowl to play Ohio State.

The Ducks (10-2, 8-1) won their first outright Pac-10 title since 2001, and will go to the Rose Bowl for the first time since the 1994-95 season.

Redshirt freshman running back LaMichael James ran for 166 yards and three touchdowns.

The game was also a return for LeGarrette Blount to the field. Those of us at OSG HQ have a bit of an issue with this considering his head coach went back on his word after claiming Blount was indefinitely suspended after rearranging Boise State player Byron Hout's jaw Week 1.

We guess we now know how long "indefinite" is in Oregon years...
Translation: Until we need depth at running back...

TWTW: A Busy Day In Oregon, Jahvid Not Feeling His Best

Sean Canfield threw for 342 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a score Saturday night in Oregon State's 31-14 victory over No. 23 Cal, which lost Jahvid Best to a concussion in the second quarter.

Actually, we think it's "who lost Jahvid Best," but who are we...?
Or is it "which are we...?"

Best landed on his head in the end zone following a leaping touchdown over a defender.
And he was out immediately after he landed...

It took 16 minutes to get everything squared away so he was safe to move off the field and in to an ambluance.

Oregon State (6-3, 4-2) became bowl eligible.

"It's a great win to beat Cal down here again," OSU QB Sean Canfield said. "I've never lost down here and it's nice to go out that way."

Tedford said results of an initial exam came out normal. "It's very sobering when that happens," Tedford said. "When it happened, it was unbelievably scary. He was out of it pretty good."

Beaver Fever In The CBI

Cinderella bypassed the NCAA Tournament but has found a home at the College Basketball Invitational. The nation is being swept by Beaver Fever and will be tuning in to the CBI's best of 3 Championship series as Oregon State (16-17) hopes to culminate their miracle run through the CBI taking on UTEP (22-12).

Should the Beavs take the series, they will win their first ever post season basketball championship and have a winning season too.

Oregon State survived and advanced to the CBI Championship Series with another thrilling overtime win in Gill Coliseum. This time Stanford fell victim to Beaver Fever 65-62 in OT. A 7-0 run at the start of overtime put the Beavs over the top and send 4,759 OSU fans into a frenzy.

“I almost needed an ambulance,” Oregon State head coach Craig Robinson said of the emotions he felt in the game. “We played such a gutsy game to get there. This was probably the gutsiest game and and gutsiest group of guys I’ve been a part of, including when I played. And certainly when I coached.”

"It's exciting. We're in the championship." Oregon State junior guard Seth Tarver said. "We know what we're capable of. We know that we can play well. We feel like we've been getting better all season and we're just playing well at the right time."
Timing is everything. You think Oregon State is an example of spreading the wealth like Criag Robinson's brother in law talks about?

UTEP is next for the Beavs in the CBI Championship Series. Game 1 is next Monday at Corvallis but for OSU to win the title, they have to win on the road. Games 2 & 3 will be played in El Paso, Texas.

You can tune in on HD Net to see what could be a classic series. Unfortunately the OSG HQ doesn't get it.

Beavers Join The CBI Foursome

Once again, we don't want to tick off the execs at CBS or the NCAA powers that be and use their "brand name" so here at OSG headquarters, we came up with our own for the College Basketball Invitational a.k.a. "The Big Party". We also want to recognize Oregon State as the Beavers continue their quest for a winning season and a CBI championship.

Monday night the Beavs moved on the the CBI Last Foursome with a 71-70 overtime victory over Vermont in Corvallis. (They got 2 home games in this thing) It was Calvin Hayes' (pictured, many thanks Scobel Wiggins/Corvallis Gazette-Times) basket with 6 seconds left that won it for the Beavs. Oregon State is now 15-17 on the year. 4,052 showed up at Gill Coliseum for this one.

"Before getting into anything, I just want to say the crowd was phenomenal." Oregon State head coach Craig Robinson said. "I wish I could have stayed out here longer to thank them even more. We wouldn’t have been able to win without them. We needed those cheers and their energy.”

It would have taken coach Robinson 20 mintues to thank those loyal Beaver fans.

Who do the Beavs draw in the CBI Last Foursome... Pac-10 rival Stanford, who Oregon State swept in the regular season but lost to the Cardinal in the Pac-10 tournament. And guess what, the game will be in Corvallis, Oregon. Obviously the CBI must have tax issues or in dire need of a government bailout or Craig Robinson's friends and family in high places is benefiting the Beavs.

Your CBI Update: Oregon State Stays In The "Big Party"

You knew that the College Basketball Invitational had creditability issues when they invited losing teams to their "Big Party" (No dancing allowed at the CBI). St. John's was invited with a 16-17 record and the Red Storm properly exited stage left getting waxed by the Richmond Spiders 75-69.

Then there is Oregon State who finished the season 13-17 yet the CBI selection committee thought so highly of the Beavers that OSU received an invitation to the "Big Party" and not only that, the Beavs got a home game. Remember, Oregon State head coach Craig Robinson is Barack Obama's brother-in-law. Nice to have friends and or family in high places.

Well the Beavs opened, or sorry, began CBI play Wednesday night hosting the Houston Cougars at Gill Coliseum and won in an ugly game 49-45. (We here at the OSG HQ would like to show you video highlights but the CBI website won't let us embed. It must be so ugly the the CBI hasn't posted highlights from HD Net.)

”I was not sure about that one for awhile." Robinson said after the game. "It is good for these guys to get into tournament play, playing a new opponent. It is great for the program; it is great for those guys in the locker room, great for the staff and great for the university. We are really excited about this.”

It's great to be 14-17 now and if Oregon State wins the CBI they finish above .500. Remember, you have to win a best of 3 series to be the life of the "Big Party".
