Okay, when we saw this story all we really thought of was this...
Sorry, this act was already conquered when Lloyd Bernard Free became World B. Free...
Ron Artest, for what it's worth, wants to change his name to Metta World Peace and he wants "Peace" or "World Peace" on the back of his jersey next season...
Artest's attorney filed a petition in LA Superior Court seeking the change from Ronald William Artest Jr. to MWP...
In the court documents, Artest cites personal reasons for wanting to make the change.
An August 26th court date was set to consider the petition...
Can the HQ deny it on the grounds of "been there, done that, better player...?"

Chad Versus The Bull.. Bull Wins...
((HT: PBR-TV))
Okay, the short version...
Chad lasted a second-and-a-half of the required eight seconds...
The HQ joked that, if he had in fact survived, he would have renamed the bull "Ocho Segundos..." or something like that...
Here's the full run...look quick...

Chad And The Bull
((HT: PBR/PBR-TV))
Tonight in suburban Atlanta, Chad Johnson/Ocho-Cinco gets to ride a bull (a real one) at the PBR Tour event at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.
Admitting that this act of riding a bull is part of a bucket list, if he survives he gets a new Ford truck and the opportunity to re-name the bull...
Here's your preview with Chad and his respect for the guys that do this for a living.
The HQ would like to elaborate that this act is NOT part of any bucket list whatsoever... and we hope he doesn't get trampled...

Ochocinco to ride bull: Publicity Stunt?
![]() |
| Chad Ochocinco/Courtesy: nflnewsworld.com |
The mercurial, talkative receiver, like many of his football brethren are looking for things to do while the NFL Lockout stupidity continues. So Chad is trying his hand at other things. He recently completed a tryout and game with the professional soccer team in Kansas City.
Now it's Professional Bull Riding. Chad's challenge...to ride a bull this weekend in Duluth, Georgia (Atlanta suburb). If he does it, he gets $10,000. If he stays on it for 8-seconds; he gets a new Ford truck and the rights to name the bull.
This is so completely publicity laden for both sides its kinda gross. Chad being Chad, it doesn't surprise me he's taken the challenge, it's the Bull Riders coming up with this that is a bit of a surprise. We'll see if this gets more people into the builiding, because ultimately, that's what it's about...isn't it?
And here's a look at what Mr. Ochocinco is getting himself into:

8-5 Honorary Member of Sporting KC
((HT: SportingKC/MLS))
Sporting Kansas City announced Chad Ochocinco has been named an "honorary member" of SKC after his six-day tryout. Ochocinco can duck back in and re-join the team for reserve training and workouts during the MLS season.
“This is a positive outcome for everyone involved,” Sporting Kansas City Manager Peter Vermes said. “It’s been great to have Chad here and we’ll welcome him back when he’s ready to return. He’s been a true professional throughout his tryout, he has fit right in with the other players and he has been a great presence in the locker room. He has definitely earned the right to be an honorary member of the squad.”
“I had a great six days here...just to be able to grace the pitch with these guys was awesome,” Ochocinco said. “It’s always been a dream of mine to play the game of soccer. Manager Vermes was kind enough to allow me to stay here at will to train with the reserves and continue to get myself in shape.”
Here's 8-5 talking to SKC's Dave Borchardt about his experience...

Ochenta-Y-Cinco And The MLS...???
((HT: NBCActionnews.com/Kansas City))
Chad 8-5 has started his tryout with the Kansas City Wizards of the MLS.
He started his four-day tryout with more than three-dozen of us media types on hand to see how well he can kick it around. Chad got a lot of individual attention from assistant coach Zoran Savic.
There's a joke there somewhere...
Johnson/8-5 started playing soccer when he was 4 but quit in high school to focus on football. But with a lockout going on, he's looking for work...

Get Your OchoCinco's....
![]() |
| Ochocinco the cereal/courtesy: plbsports-cnbc.com |
Really, sometimes there are things we just can't make up. We reported earlier today on Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco being fined $25,000 for Tweeting during a game last weekend.
Now comes word that our hero is getting.....wait for it....his own cereal. From the company that brought you Flutie Flakes...comes "Ochocinco's". That company, PLB Sports, has an intersting roster of athlete named foods.
More from CNBC's Sports Business writer Darren Rovell RIGHT HERE
Try and forgive the Ochocinco stories here, but its hard to resist this type of material. The product, which will be sold primarily in the Cincinnati area, will be available at Kroger's stores and the company's website. They debut, September 7th.
Really, if you think about it, it's kind of hard not to laugh about this stuff, but it sells. It isn't something you'll see nationwide, but it sells in its markets. We get the logic. In towns such as Cincinnati, pretty much anything with one of their players mugs on it...will sell.
We aren't saying we are going to buy some here in the Satellite Office, we aren't really Bengals fans, but their is some curiosity.
Say what you will, the guy can market himself. Here's his intro video from Dancing With The Stars...Thanks YouTube:

Ochocinco 2010...Let the Fines Begin...
![]() |

Ocho...who is a certified Media whore, is also one of the more savvy marketers in the NFL. Not only did he have his own reality show on VH-1 (though pretty much anyone whoever made a headline can do that), he is huge on Twitter and Facebook. He also has the self titled OCNN which was the source of a few entertaining bits earlier this year at the Super Bowl.
So, it should come as no surprise that Ocho has gotten his first fine of the 2010 season. This time, it's a $25,000 hit for Tweeting during last weeks exhibition game vs. the Philadelphia Eagles.
More from Bengals beat writer Joe Reedy RIGHT HERE
While we understand the league's stance on this, we also get where Ochocinco is coming from as well. As much as the NFL would like to not have this happen, it's going to. And really, the two Tweets were hardly revelatory.
We, well at least here in the Satellite office, kind of enjoy the antics of 8-5. He's good for the game. Sure he tweaks the stodginess of the NFL, but is that such a bad thing. It's not like the guy is beating his wife or running over people while drunk....
Here is Chad having a good laugh on Jimmy Kimmel Live and tweaking our friends at The Big Lead: (Yes, we know he doesn't have clothes on in this skit)

Owens already in trouble...camp just started...
![]() |
| T.O being T.O//Courtesy: thehollywood gossip.com |
For whatever reason, he was scheduled to be on a red-eye flight from California to Cincinnati that was supposed to arrive at just before 7am Wednesday morning. From there it was supposed to be an escorted, hour long drive south to the Bengals Training Camp in Georgetown, Kentucky.
One problem. He missed the flight.
More from wcpo.com RIGHT HERE
He is now supposed to be arriving in the afternoon.
What is interesting here, and we can say this now that we are in the satellite HQ in Cinci, is that he is being treated like a savior here for the most part. Nobody can argue he is a talented dude...when he feels like it. But there within lies the rub. He doesn't always feel like it.
Sure, if motivated, he, on paper should be a good fit with Chad...Ochocinco. Yeah, the fact that Carson Palmer is his QB instead of a rookie or lesser QB will help. But the question is, how will he behave.
We've seen over and over again that he is essentially a spoiled diva who will lash out when he isn't happy. That overshadows everything he's done on the field which is a shame. Unfortunately he at this point seems to not have listened to anyone who has tried to tell him this. Act like a mature adult. Play the game well. Be a good, dependable teammate and he'd be surprised just how much love he would get.

We Love Chad OchoCinco and OCNN!
By now, you have probably read about Chad Ochocinco and friends reporting from Miami during Super Bowl week. If you haven't do some Google searching and check it out.
We have to add that the more we see Ochocinco, the more we like him and we can't figure out why people don't. Is he perfect? No. Is he politically correct? Not always. Does he have a great sense of humor? Aboslutely. And he is harmless.
Quite honestly the main reason that we are posting this is because we just found the OCNN (Ochocinco News Network) News Open. It reeks of Anchorman, which is one of our favorite movies. Yes, we know it is for the most part...a corporate shill, but we like it never the less. The OSG are a group of current and former TV people and anything that can or could spoof the ever spoof-able TV business, we are all for.

Ochocinco's Knee Is Fine, At Least In The Bedroom
[HT: New York Post]Remember Sunday night when Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco injured his left knee in pre-game warm ups and was ineffective against the New York Jets? (and Darrelle Revis had no impact, right.)
Well apparently the knee is fine according 85, who tested the knee Monday.
"I had sex yesterday,'' the Bengals receiver said. "With some of the moves I did -- I should be fine."
The OSG Cincinnati bureau led by brother Phil will be "on top" of this one.

NFL Doesn't Want Ochocinco to honor Chris Henry

Chad Ochocinco has been a regular Sports/News item because it seems that he gets fined by the NFL almost every week. Generally it is something innocuous or all in fun, this weekend, he wants to do something that is very serious...in a respectful way.
Mr. Ochocinco would like to honor his recently deceased friend and teammate Chris Henry by wearing his jersey for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers. We think that this is a very honorable act, something that would let people remember Henry.
((Chad wears Henry's practice jersey on Thursday//Courtesy: Ernest Coleman/Cincinnati Enquirer))
However, it is a violation of the NFL rules. And from what the various reports on this subject are saying, if he wears it, he will be fined. The NFL Players Association earlier today offered to pay for the fine, which is great, except as it turns out they are not allowed to. The NFLPA has already gathered a fund together to help Henry's 3 children and was willing to match the fine with an additional contribution to the fund.
There is more on the story...from ESPN's Adam Schefter RIGHT HERE
The Bengals speak on honoring and being motivated to win for Henry...from the Cincinnati Enquirer RIGHT HERE
The whole thing is just silly. We would say that we don't understand the NFL's unwillingness to let Chad do this, but we are talking about the NFL. This is the same organization that fines players for wearing there socks an inch too high or slightly off the required colors. While we understand a "Uniform" policy we think that in this case nobody will be harmed and it will help the Bengals cope with the loss of a fallen teammate...and friend.
Enjoy Chad at his finest...Courtesy: The You Tube

NFL Doesn't Like Ochocinco's Humor

Yes, everyone's favorite class clown, Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco is in trouble with the humor police again. This time, it's for jokingly trying to hand a dollar bill to a referee in the Bengals game versus Baltimore this past weekend. The ref refused and everyone moved on. But, in this day and age of mulitple cameras and replays, it was played...over and over and over again.
The story from USA Today IS RIGHT HERE
The technical explanation is included in Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer's story RIGHT HERE
((The NFL is dragging Ochocinco down//Courtesy: John Summers II/Getty Images))
Check out Chad's Tweet with Chris Mortenson of ESPN about complaining to the President: "Barrack I've just been fined again, can we meet to set up a fun rule please. I can't go to mcdonalds for 2"
Okay, sorry...this is silly. Chad got fined $20K for playing the goofball? I would ask why, but then again, this is the NFL we are talking about and if nothing else, they are noted for there overwhelming lack of a sense of humor. Oh...by the way, the NFL also didn't like his use of the word "Bribe" in his post game comments.
Here is the video in question, please pardon the crappy audio and the fact that is was from the crappy morning show on ESPN2, it's the only version we'll get because the NFL doesn't like their video on the You Tube:

Ochocinco to Hold the Mustard

Nothing makes us happier than to be able to come up with what we consider witty Headlines for our stories. Nobody makes us happier to write about than Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver Chad Ochocinco. The mercurial 8 5 talks a lot of doo doo, but thing that we think makes him different...is that it is done with a sense of humor.
Last week 8 5 sent a package of deodorant to the Baltimore Ravens Defensive Backs. This week...he wanted to send some mustard to the Pittsburgh Steelers...because they play at Heinz Field...get it? However his coach, Marvin Lewis told him that it "Would not be a good idea".
The story from WLWT-TV is RIGHT HERE.
((8 5 Runs from Condiments//Photo Courtesy: Larry French/Getty Images))
The Bengals are in the midst of somewhat of a revival, they are 6-2 and tied with the Steelers, whom they play on Sunday...in Pittsburgh. Ochocinco himself has had a very good season after complaining pretty much all of last season. Unlike other "Prima Donna" Wide Receivers, he seems to have decided to back up what he's talking about. He's also done a lot of good things in the Cincinnati community, including helping purchase some 3500 tickets for the Bengals game against the Texans a few weeks ago to insure that the game would be sold out.
Enjoy his Lambeau leap from the Green Bay game last month. The best part of this....he actually paid to plant his fans in the end zone. Love it! Courtesy: The You Tube

Ochocinco + Diva = Slacker
For those who work their butt off just for the opportunity to play in the National Football League than you should be very pissed at Chad Ochocinco of the Cincinnati Bengals. It's no secret Ochocinco wants out of Cincy and will do whatever he can to make that happen including slacking off or just not giving a damn. Here's what Ochocinco said Friday on the NFL Network.
"I'm not even going to lie to you, I'm going to say it. Last year, the offseason, I didn't lift one weight, I didn't run one route, I didn't exercise. I didn't do nothing because my focus was on getting out of a situation I didn't want to be in. I'm not going to lie," Ochocinco said.
“And the result of my season, whether we as a team did bad or not, that’s what I get. I get hurt in the preseason. I didn’t lift no weights. If I had been on my right regiment, I guarantee you my collarbone, my shoulder wouldn’t pop out of place. The ankle surgery, you know.”
2008 was Ochocinco's worst season since his rookie season of 2001. Last year he only caught 53 balls for 540 yards and 4 touchdowns. Like Ochocinco cares.
Ochocinco says he will report to the Bengals mandatory mini-camp on June 18 and according to the prima donna, things are fine between him a Bengal quarterback Carson Palmer.
“There is no 85 without 9, and there is no 9 without 85." Ochocinco said. The first part is right the latter, dude get a clue.
Here's some advice for you Mr. Ochocinco. Stop being a jackass and a publicity whore. Eat a large piece of humble pie, shut your mouth and play football.
How does the UFL sound.
