Northern Iowa and Valparaiso are part of the 24 teams selected to play in the
CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.
The tourney expanded from 16 teams this season...
All 24 teams play first-round games starting this week, with four teams then getting a bye into the quarterfinals.
Don't know how they determine who gets byes...
They'll play the winners of four games involving the other eight teams.
The championship game is scheduled for March 30th with every game set for on-campus match-ups...
The other teams are: Air Force, Buffalo, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Furman, Hawaii, Idaho, Iona, Jacksonville, Marshall, North Dakota, Northern Arizona, Ohio, Oral Roberts, Portland, Quinnipiac, Rider, San Francisco, Santa Clara, SMU,
Tennessee Tech and Western Michigan.
Got all that...???

CIT Has Their Single Bright Moment
We don't want the CBS suits to pound us for stealing their tag line so we altered it a bit. Monday night in Peoria, Illinois, the CollegeInsider.com tournament had it's 10 minutes of fame thanks to Bradley's Chris Roberts.
Down 75-73 to Oakland in the CIT quarterfinals with 00.9 seconds left, Roberts launched a 75 footer that was on target and kept the Braves season alive.
This big shot came the day before Roberts' 21st birthday. I don't think Roberts will be buying a round unless he insists.

More March March, The CollegeInsider.com Tournament
This surprised the us at the OSG HQ this morning. We weren't aware of another post season college basketball tournament called the CollegeInsider.com post season tournament was around. The CIT begins Tuesday with a 16 team field.
I must say CIT has dropped the CBI to 4th in the food chain. There are no losers in this field of 16 and has a creditible field of former head coaches on their selection committee. When you have Lefty Driesell, Nolan Richardson, Lou Henson just to name a few on your committee, your tournament is in good hands.
Here's the CIT 16:
Tuesday, March 17
Rider (19-12) at Liberty (22-11), 7 p.m.
Kent State (19-14) at Oakland, Mich. (22-12), 7 p.m.
Wednesday, March 18
Belmont (19-12) at Evansville (17-13), 8 p.m.
Austin Peay (19-13) at Bradley (18-14), 8:05 p.m.
The Citadel (20-12) at Old Dominion (21-10), TBA
Mount St. Mary's (19-13) at James Madison (19-14), TBA
Portland (19-12) at Pacific (19-11), TBA
Drake (17-5) at Idaho (16-15), TBA
Did you notice all the teams involved are mid-majors? The Missouri Valley Conference has 3 teams in CIT and one of those schools could win it.
Yes, we have an office pool for the CIT at the OSG compound.
But when we really hear the phrase "CIT" all we really think about is this...
We do not know, however, if there will be any smoking, drinking, fooling around, or noogies during play of this particular tournament...
