The HQ will readily admit that we've all flubbed our lines every now and again before we got our stand-up right. Most of the time we're editing our own material so it would have been our fault if something aired wrong...
Last night, during the end of our "night out on the town," TBH was witness to an abnormality on network television- the tape cued to the wrong portion of the Doris Burke stand-up describing what she wanted to describe in the Dallas-Oklahoma City series.
Here's how it ran on the four-letter... no edits...
Someone ((or someones)) in the TV truck were, probably, in serious trouble last night in the post meeting... and we can guarantee that folks in Bristol weren't happy about the on-air technical gaffe, either...

ACC + ESPN= A S***load Of $$$$
The HQ told you about this, like, a long time ago... starting in late February...
But it's now official...
The Atlantic Coast Conference and ESPN have agreed to a 12-year deal that would give the network exclusive rights to conference football and men's basketball game.
Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed, but look for it to be somewhat lucrative, but not as lucrative as the SEC deal.
The deal begins in the 2011-12 season and would give ESPN syndication rights that would allow Raycom Sports to carry games and maintain its long-running broadcasting relationship with the league- which, from OSG sources was one of the sticking points in the negotiating process as Raycom opened up their wallets to support the dollars in the bid.
ESPN gets to broadcast ACC regular-season football games each Saturday as well as the league championship game- which had been an ESPN on ABC product. In men's basketball, the network would carry all games on one of its channels or through online or mobile services.
Are you ESPN3 eligible...?
The deal would also include the entire women's basketball tournament and more non-revenue sports coverage.
1730 UPDATE: The deal is worth is worth $1.86 billion, according to an anonymous source that spoke to the AP, and will double the league's TV revenue.

Bob Griese, Why did you say that?
As good as yesterday's college football games were, there were a few issues that bear mentioning. Brother Jon spoke about one at the end of the Alabama/Tennessee game after Terrance Cody blocked a potential Game-winning field goal attempt.
The other of significance, the comment made by ABC College Football announcer Bob Griese during the Ohio State/Minnesota game. Without spoiling the story, it had something to do with NASCAR Driver Juan-Pablo Montoya and a very stereotypical and in this case, completely wrong assumption.

Needless to say, Griese had to apologize for what he said, and he has. We hope he was just trying to be funny and missed the mark. Of course there are quite a few people enraged by the quick comment that he made. Griese is a Hall of Fame former Quarterback who played at Purdue and later led the Miami Dolphins during there glory years of the early 70's. He's been an analyst with ABC for a long time working everything from the National Game to the oh-by the way games such as this one.

Don't Be Changin' My Channel, The Race Ain't Over!!!
I learned a long time ago never to tick off a true blue NASCAR fan. They are the most loyal and most down to earth bunch I've been around, but don't cross them.
Well ABC did this weekend electing to switch the last 34 laps of the race to basic cable, or more specifically, ESPN2, for America's Funniest Home Videos. To NASCAR fans and it's insiders, it's not funny.
"We didn't like it, that was not what we had anticipated but we have talked to them repeatedly in the last couple days," NASCAR Grand Pooh-Bah Brian France said. "There were lots of circumstances that we have to consider. They have their own issues they had to manage around. Unfortunately we got the short end of that."
"I knew we were in trouble when I looked at the monitor and saw a monkey scratching its butt." one team member from Jimmie Johnson's crew said.
The switch happened between 7:30 - 8pm eastern & central time. In the 7 - 7:30 time slot before channels changed, ABC had a 4.6 rating.
So let's see, Jimmie Johnson is wins the race on the verge of making NASCAR history by capturing his 3rd straight Sprint Cup title and dad's getting kick in the balls by their kids is better and more compelling TV? Who's getting kick in the jimmie's here (no pun intended)
The Worldwide Leader was so anxious to get NASCAR back a few years back and ABC seemed ready and willing to go along for the ride but is obvious that the Sprint Cup races do not warrant airing to their conclusion like football, baseball or even golf. Would a network switch the conclusion of the next to last event in the Fed Ex Cup if Tiger Woods was involved and on top of the leaderboard? I don't think so and right now, Jimmie Johnson is as dominant in Sprint Cup as much as Tiger has been to golf. I can think of a few reasons why but will refrain at this time.
I talked to an individual today who covers NASCAR. He told me that now the sanctioning body has a good idea now where they stand now.
Hopefully the powers that be realize this cannot happen at the race this weekend at Homestead where Jimmie Johnson is set make history. Keep your remote handy though.
