Tom Thompson Scores For Kangaroos

((HT: KXII-TV))

For those of you that follow the musings here regularly, we like to find stories in the fringes that make you think, cheer, and sometimes ask for change...

This is one for the middle topic...

Last week, Austin College of Texas was found to have a 61-year-old straight-on kicker with one hell of a work ethic...

You saw the preview for the season finale...
Last Saturday, he got to play... becoming the oldest player in college football... KXII-TV's Maddie Garrett got the follow-up...
Safe to say, we'll be buying the book...

He was a kicker 40 years ago on his first tour through college, but had to learn the craft all over again when he ended up at Austin...

They lost to Trinity 44-10, but who cares...

A Story About A 61-Year-Old Kicker

((HT: KXII-TV/Sherman, Texas))

Tom Thompson is 61 years old.

He's in college, and his work ethic as a kicker at Austin College is something the "normal-aged" college kids should look at as they go through their paces on the football field.

He's there way early as a full-time student and does his job...

The Kangaroos, which we all know are very prevalent in Texoma, have a big game this weekend and are going to try and put the straight-on kicker in the game for some duties.

CBS12's Maddie Garrett talked to someone at least twice her age...

Those of us at OSG HQ are hoping Thompson gets in the box score and lives to tell about it... Hey, it's something he can already talk to his grandkids about...

He doesn't have to wait like the rest of us...
