Martensdale-St. Marys, a small school from rural Iowa, beat Twin Cedars-Bussey High 10-0 in six innings Tuesday night, setting the national high school record for consecutive wins.
The win by Martensdale-St. Marys also clinched a trip to next week's state tournament for the Blue Devils, who play in Iowa's smallest classification.
Martensdale-St. Marys finished 43-0 and won the state crown a year ago and they're looking to do the same again...

Portsmouth High School in New Hampshire set the mark earlier this season and its streak of 83 straight wins is still alive. The Clippers won their state title in the spring.

OSG High: SoCal's Montclair Prep Cuts Athletics, Financial Aid

School officials at Montclair College Preparatory in suburban Los Angeles have decided to cut its sports program, grade services, and financial aid incentives. School Director Mark Simpson sent out a letter to the more than 200 students enrolled in the 2011-12 school year notifying them of the changes.
"As a result of this economy and overwhelming requests for financial aid, we had to restructure," Simpson told the LA Times.
The school will also discontinue grades seven and eight and will only operate as a high school, and the school's financial aid program will also be eliminated.
Founded in 1956, Montclair is known for its notable alumni including Cher, Nicole Richie and Khloe Kardashian.

Padres' Tate Gets Another 25 Game Suspension
Technically, it's a 50-game, but he's getting a "time served" section knocked off of the top following a second positive drug test...
He's getting credit for 25 games since he's undergoing counseling for substance abuse. The rest of the suspension begins immediately.
The son of University of Georgia and NFL running back Lars Tate was the third overall pick in the 2009 draft. Currently at Class-A Eugene, he has also played this season at Class A Fort Wayne.
He is batting .294 with seven RBIs and seven stolen bases in 17 combined games with the Emeralds and the Wizards.

OSG High: 4 Joplin Schools Complete Losses

It seems we're doing a lot of this for the spring and summer...
You've seen all the damage done by the tornado that took out at least 75-percent of the town of Joplin. Over 100 are known dead, some are still missing, and now another town has to pick up and start over...
A press conference took place today to explain the scope of the damage from an academic stand-point...
Superintendent CJ Huff gets to share the bad news...
Obviously, there are no classes planned for the rest of the intended school year...
But the goal to rebuild is a great task and one Joplin plans to take on full bore.

The Clippers haven't lost a game in...well...3-years. They last lost in 2008. The previous record holder, a high school in Homer, Michigan. And yes, they've won the last 3 Division II State titles as well.
