No. Seriously, to update the story we did earlier this morning discussing the trade of Santonio Holmes from Pittsburgh to New York, we add this: The NFL has officially announced that Mr. Holmes will be suspended for the first 4 games of the regular season for violating the substance abuse policy.
He, from what we understand will be able to play and practice in the pre-sesaon however. So, we guess that the Jets will take a 12 game season from him and hope for the best.
By now, most of you have probably read that the Pittsburgh Steelers have traded wide receiver Santonio Holmes to the New York Jets for a fifth-round draft pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Holmes, the MVP in the 2009 Super Bowl has been in trouble as much as he's been successful during his NFL career. He's currently facing a Civil Suit for an incident at an Orlando, Florida night club.

On the heels of the trade comes reports that the Jets are only going to have Mr. Holmes for 12 games at the most. He will apparently be sitting out the first 4 games of the year due to him violating the leagues substance-abuse policy.
There seem to be several issues going on here at the same time: One, the Steelers are sending a message that they aren't going to put up with behavior like this from their players (are you listening Ben?) Two, they are comfortable with the other guys on the team. Nobody is going to disrupt what they are trying to do. Three, the New York Jets are quickly becoming the Raiders east. They seem to be willing to take on the troubled, castoffs and rejects. Yes, they became very successful and a dangerous team last season. And...if everyone behaves, they are a REALLY talented team. But...if they don't, the whole season could go down in flames...very, very quickly.
Here is Holmes in action when behaving. He is capable of this at times. Thanks You Tube:
It looks like the Spring of the Pittsburgh Steelers discontent will be continuing. Santonio Holmes, whose name hit the news wire earlier this week when he was served a civil suit for an "Incident" at an Orlando, Florida nightclub back on March 7th is still in the news for the same incident.
It seems as though the woman, a Anshonae Mills, at the time of the incident declined to file charges against Holmes who she says threw a glass of liquor in her face. She lawyered up and filed the civil suit, which she is entitled to do, however, without filing charges, it would be awfully tough to win said suit.
Fast forward to April 1. Mills returned to the Orlando Police Department and decided that she wants to prosecute. The OPD, has now...according to their spokeswoman..."The case has be re-activated".

Needless to say, there is a lot of "He Said-She Said" going on here. After the original incident, police were called, but there seemed to be a resolution to the "Situation" and nobody pressed charges and all moved on.
We don't know if Ms. Mills is just looking for a payoff or if Holmes really did what he is accused of, it isn't for us to say. We do know this looks even worse for the Steelers who up to this point had a very family friendly image at home and around the NFL. Between Holmes and Ben Roethlisberger, the Rooney family has a lot of detective and investigative work to do. These are two of their most important players and they don't want to be without either when the 2010 NFL Season commences later this summer.
For those of you who wonder what the heck we are talking about when we say "Wonder Twin Powers Activate", it's from the 70's cartoon the Superfriends. Check out this version of the Wonder Twins redone by the Cartoon Networks Adult Swim.
By now we've read ad nauseum about the further mis-adventures of Ben Roethlisberger, now...at least today, we get to talk about his teammate...Santonio Holmes.
Holmes has been served. With a lawsuit that is. He is accused of throwing a glass of alcohol in a woman's face at an Orlando, Florida nightclub.

Holmes, joins his Quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger on the could be in trouble list. At this point, neither player is facing criminal charges...although we should note that in Holmes' lawsuit, the woman claims Holmes told her that "He was an NFL football player and could not face criminal charges". Bwahahahahaha!!! Sorry...that is laughter...
Anyway, Roethlisberger has apparently...or his attorney's have decided that he stay away from the Steelers "Organized Team Activities"...or what should be commonly referred to as off-season workouts. We are unsure if Holmes is staying away, though we kind of doubt it.
For those who don't know Holmes (though chances are if you are reading this blog...you do), here is video of the catch that made him famous in the Super Bowl.
