Molina Gets Five Games For Meltdown

St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina has been suspended for five games after bumping an umpire and, what looks like, spraying him with his own spit during his outburst.

The MLB also fined Molina. He decided against appealing, and the suspension begins Thursday night...

Pujols Out 4-6 Weeks

St. Louis Cardinal fans will see just what life without Albert Pujols is like for the next 4-6 weeks.

The Cardinals announced Monday that Puljos will miss 4-6 weeks after results from a MRI and CT-scan showed a non-displaced fracture of his left radius, a bone that makes up the forearm. Pujols was placed in a splint and will likely be sidelined from 4 to 6 weeks.

According to a press release from the club Pujols' left shoulder was sore, but no structural damage was determined at this time.

Pujols injured his wrist and shoulder in the sixth inning of Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals. K-C baserunner Wilson Betemit collided with Pujois along the first-base line.

"It's one of those weird plays that happen in the game that you just can't avoid," Pujols said on Sunday. "I wish that it didn't happen, but it does happen. It doesn't [just] happen to me. It happens to a lot of first basemen in the game."

Pujols becomes the third Cardinal star to go on the DL this season. Pitcher Adam Wainwright is out for the year who had season ending shoulder surgery and Matt Holliday who was just activated after a left quadriceps strain put Holliday on the 15 day disabled list.

BREAKING: Wainwright Needs Tommy John

The surgery, not the pitcher himself...

And he's out for the season...

"We have confirmed that Adam Wainwright will require Tommy John surgery. So obviously, he'll be out for the year," Cards GM John Mozeliak told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "Not a real surprise to us, but certainly a disappointment and a finality to this process. As we look to the future now we certainly believe that we have a strong starting rotation on this club. And now we're going to have to try and fill it in terms of a fifth spot."

Mozeliak said the typical recovery time is 12 to 15 months.

The Glynn Academy Red Terror graduate began feeling soreness in the elbow back at the beginning of the week. Trainers examined him Tuesday and Wainwright flew back to St. Louis to meet with team doctors on Wednesday.

Oooh. This isn't going to be a lot of fun. Most of the baseball world has breathlessly awaited to see if the St.Louis Cardinals could reason "The Franchise", Albert Pujols before a self-imposed, first day of Spring Training deadline issued by his agent.

You see, Albert, or Mr. Best Hitter in Baseball will be a free agent after this season. And though he's spent his entire career in St. Louis, he's expressed no hesitation about the thought of becoming a free agent.

More than likely its because he knows no matter what happens, he's set for life...and oh...about 100 other peoples lives combined too.

The whole thing is going to make for chaos the next couple of weeks. The Cardinals are already bracing for the daily 4-letter (ESPN) daily Albert update. And hopefully his teammates are prepared too. Because they'll be asked about it over the next few weeks. A lot.

This is one of the things we truly hate about Sports. There are no winners when things like this happen. Well, actually, the player and the agent always win eventually. It's really hard for the rest of us to relate to people talking about contracts worth $100's of millions of dollars and paying guys in a week, what most of us make in a year, just to play a Sport.

BREAKING: Suspensions a plenty for Reds/Cards brawl...

While it was good TV and for that matter newspaper reading, the Cincinnati Reds/St. Louis Cardinals brawl from Tuesday night had some repercussions.

According to the Reds, Pitcher Johnny Cueto will get a 7-game vacation and fine for kicking at people during the brawl (they didn't phrase it quite like that). Also, Reds manager Dusty Baker and Cardinals manager Tony LaRussa will get two days off as well.

The other bad outcome, the Cardinals had to put catcher Jason LaRue on the DL with a rib injury, suffered in said brawl. No Reds were injured that we are aware of.

Reds And Cards Do Not Like Each Other

Full disclosure...

The HQ has covered Brandon Phillips since his time as a high school shortstop at Redan High School in suburban Atlanta...

He made a point to rile up his St. Louis division mates the other day...

"I'd play against these guys on one leg," said Phillips. "We have to beat these guys. All they do is (complain) and moan about everything, all of them."

Phillips referred to the Cards as a bunch of bitches since they complain too much- from his point-of-view... and then he said...

"I really hate the Cardinals. Compared to the Cardinals, I love the Chicago Cubs. Let me make this clear: I hate the Cardinals."

So, then we go to the game between the Reds and Cards where Phillips went through his pre at-bat routine and set off rather large men and their managers going at each other with the aid of netting...

Awesome television... and the Cards win 7-3...

Jack Clark Still Holds A Grudge Against The N.Y. Mets Of The 1980's

One of the best baseball rivalries of the 1980's was the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets. Both teams literally hated each other back in the days when both battled in the National League East.

Jack Clark was the big bat in the Cardinal line up back then. Clark didn't like the Mets and that dislike remains some 20 plus years later.

Tuesday Clark was interviewed on KTRS-AM in St. Louis on McGraw Milhaven morning show and lets just say he went off on the Mets of the '80's, especially Gary Carter.

Pujols N.L. MVP

Your National League MVP is...... Albert Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Even though Pujols played on a bum elbow he still put up MVP numbers batting .357, 37 home runs and 116 RBI's .

It's his 2nd NL MVP honor, Pujols won it in 2005.
