Let's face it...The Maroons ((historical marker pictured, thanks footballdiner.com)) were screwed out of the 1925 NFL title by the league and the Chicago Cardinals.
We all know that... ever since the town out a curse on the Cardinals, this is why they suck.
David Fleming's book, "Breaker Boys," is a great historical read on one of the most powerful and influential teams of the early NFL years. The owners of the Steelers and Eagles were looking to have the league overturn the title and give a half-share to the Maroons.
The Bidwill family, the current Cardinals owners, squashed the idea and have poked fun at the small Pennsylvania town in the past.
The Cubs may have a goat, but the Cards have an entire town giving them the fanoinks...
