Steve Alford and Jonathan Tavernari exchange pleasantries...

There was an interesting argument/exchange/debate that occurred at the end of the New Mexico/BYU basketball game this past Saturday night.

It seems that after the game had ended and New Mexico had won, the teams were exchanging the customary handshakes. Somewhere down the line, New Mexico coach Steve Alford made a comment to BYU Forward Jonathan Tavernari. Either the comment was misinterpreted or it wasn't so nice, because the exchange got a bit nasty.

According to reports, the bad blood began after a skirmish involving Tavernari and a New Mexico player happened towards the end of the game. The New Mexico coaches made some comments during the handshakes after the game and the brew-ha-ha began.

We also should note that Tavernari felt compelled to come to the New Mexico locker room after the game and apologized to Alford. To Alford's credit he was very complimentary of Tavernari after the apology. This will undoubtedly be reviewed and there may even be some discipline applied. Hopefully it will soon be forgotten and all can move on.

Here is some video of the incident from the You Tube:
