Tuesday Tim Brando of CBS Sports was a guest on Paul Finebaum's radio show in Alabama (Brother Phil asks "Who's Paul Finebaum?). Anyway, an irate Auburn fan calls in that gets under Timmy B's skin
I've worked with Brando in the past and he is one of the classiest guys I know in the industry. This Auburn fanatic must have pushed the right buttons to get Timmy B. riled up like that. Have you played football please. That's it Timmy B. Go get 'um.

Way to go, Tim. You did the right thing.
I think Brando handled himself just fine. The caller clearly was a moron. He didn't even sound like a high school grad, let alone an Auburn grad.
Timmy B -
As an Auburn fan (though I did graduate from University of South Alabama) I am embarrassed that you got that call...if that caller is really an Auburn grad then it's not just the athletics program that we should be concerned about.
I enjoy your broadcasts and hope you don't allow that caller to lessen your opinion of Auburn or the overwhelming number of good people who attend that fine institution!
Paul Finebaum is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) sports personality in Alabama. He's relatively well known throughout the South as well.
As for the caller, go Timmy B! As an Auburn fan myself, I'm totally embarrassed by the current administration, and I fully agree that the athletics program deserves the criticism that it is receiving. The caller was a dope, and I hope nobody out there takes him as an accurate reflection of the majority of Auburn fans.
are you guys serious? I hate Auburn, but the fact of the matter is a national figure allowed Cleetus the Slack Jawed yokel to get under his skin AND THEN tried to big time the idiot. People get called out by morons all the time. Brando should have taken the high road and just dismissed this guy like the piss ant he is. But Brando couldn't.
Do you have to graduate from High School to get a degree at Auburn?
Way to go Tim. Don't take their shit.
I personally know Timmy B and I know that he studies harder than anyone I know to make sure he is on top of his game. He is truly an example of someone who never had to play the game, but knows what he is talking about. Auburn should be incredibly disappointed in itself for the Athletic Department administration and its decisions.
Both were out of line especially when Brando accuses someone else of having an agenda. He is a big time LSU homer and has on many occasions let that taint his reporting on CBS. Also, as a broadcaster, he loses the argument when he resorts to profanity. If you are in a bar with a buddy, fine. On the air it is unprofessional. From the point of view of another member of the media, Brando lost credibility for his behavior on this call. The point of talk radio is to let average people call in and make fools of themselves but the broadcaster is required to maintain professionalism. Brando lost his composure.
Tim Brando lost any credibility he had left with me on that one. Geesh, get a life Tim. You start bashing a bunch of University officials like you work with them on a daily basis, then can't even take one question from some guy who ended up showing everyone exactly what he was trying to get from you. YOU DO HAVE A BIAS, and it shows every time you are on the air.
Tim, you should look for other employment or stay off talk radio shows. "SHUT THE HELL UP!" That's REAL PROFESSIONAL. Dork.
Way to go Tim! That dude Gary made the absolute dumbest argument anyone could come up with and people that make that argument should be blasted whenever that s*** comes out of their mouth. The rest of you who think Tim was wrong need to learn something about logic.
Hmmm...Brando goes off because the redneck asks if he has ever coached. Having a radio show does not make you an expert on every subject. Although I enjoy the shows, I get irritated at Rome and Patrick myself periodically. Does this make me a redneck?
WOW!!! Brando was WAY out of line on that one. Telling a caller to "shut the hell up" is as unprofessional as it gets. I don't know how any listener would think that Brando was justified in talking to any caller like that. Doesn't matter if you think the caller was a moron, he should have taken the high road.
