FSU Appeals...sort of

"The" Florida State University has filed an appeal of the NCAA decision to have the football team forfeit games that were played with ineligeable players. Or more specifically, they appealed to not have the victories drop off of coach Bobby Bowden's win record.

Bowden, who is currently 1 victory behind Joe Paterno in the race for most career wins, wasn't particularly amused by the whole thing, telling the 4-Letter word (ESPN), "He wasn't concerned, not enough to worry about it".

The school claims that since they "Self-reported" they shouldn't be subject to such harsh penalties. The schools appeal was filed by a lawyer named William Williams...which unto itself is rather odd. Odd only in that Mr. William Williams seems to be a private attorney who is representing the school in this issue.

Bowden seems none too interested in dealing with this. As for the school, they appear to be trying to protect his record any way that they can. While we understand the sentiment, we think that this is the NCAA trying to send a message to the school rather than Bowden. FSU has had several run-ins with the NCAA Po-Po the past few years and it looks like they didn't want to let this one slide.
