Ryne Sandberg Speaks Out, Sosa Shouldn't Be In Hall Of Fame

[HT/Chicago Tribune]

Cubs Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg told WMVP-AM 1000 that former teammate Sammy Sosa does not deserve to be elected into the Hall of Fame.

"Part of being in the Hall of Fame, they use the word integrity in describing a Hall of Famer, in the logo of the Hall of Fame, and I think there are going to be quite a few players who are not going to get in," Sandberg said Tuesday.

Sandberg and Sosa were teammates during the 1990s, but Sosa didn't appear to bulk up significantly until 1998, one year after Sandberg retired.

Sandberg said he was "blinded" by Sosa's doping and thought he simply was working harder in the off-season.
