With the Milwaukee Brewers mired in a late season slump seriously hurting their chances to make the post season for the first time since 1982, the team decided to fire manager Ned Yost.3rd base coach Dale Sveum takes over as interim manager for the remainder of the season.
"This was a very difficult move to make, and we appreciate all of the work that Ned has done to develop this team into a contender," general manager Doug Melvin said. "In the end, this was a collaborative decision made to put our club in the best position for the final two weeks of the season." quoting the Associated Press
You may recall the Brewers held the N.L. Central lead for most of last season before collasping in September and missing the playoffs. Milwaukee shares the N.L. wild card lead with Philadelphia despite losing 11 fo their last 14.
