The long-time voice of the Georgia Bulldogs, Larry Munson, announced his immediate retirement from calling the school's football games on the Bulldog Network Monday afternoon.
Munson has been suffering from a litany of health problems over the past few seasons which, initially, had limited his game calls to home contests in Athens. Scott Howard, who was Munson's color commentator at Sanford Stadium, was calling games on the road with former UGA quarterback Eric Zeier.
Munson is set to celebrate his 86th birthday next week and had called games since 1966. Howard will take over the football duties full-time including this weekend's game with the University of Alabama.
There are volumes of calls over time that Munson will be remembered for...
This is only a few of them... our thoughts of thanks at OSG HQ go out to Munson, his family, and the Bulldog Nation as the torch is passed.
Hunker down, you guys... just one more time...
