Tillman Case Pushed Back Again

Jana Pruden got to sit in on a continuance... how thrilling...

Eric Tillman’s sexual assault charge has been adjourned two weeks and is now slated to be back in court on April 21.
Neither Tillman ((pictured, thanks Don Healy/Leader-Post)) nor his lawyer, Aaron Fox, were in court for the adjournment, with a colleague of Fox’s instead adjourning the matter on his behalf.
The lawyer, Brian Banilevic, told court the adjournment would “allow some additional time for discussion.”
Tillman was charged with sexual assault in late January, after a six-month investigation into an allegation dating back to August. The charge relates to an alleged incident involving a 16-year-old girl.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders’ general manager held a press conference after the charge became public, telling media he co-operated with police investigators and has “faith in the process.”
He has since stayed out of the media glare, and has not appeared in person for any of his court appearances.
It is the third time Tillman’s charge has been adjourned. That number of adjournments — and more — is not at all uncommon in the criminal court system, as lawyers wait for and review evidence related to the case, discuss the case with their clients, and negotiate with the Crown about various issues.
At Regina Provincial Court, trials are currently being set into the late fall.
