Cubbies have a Buyer!

It looks like the beleaguered Tribune Company has finally found a buyer for the Chicago Cubs and of course Wrigley Field. The Chicago Tribune (wonder how they got the story first?), reports this morning that the Ricketts family, headed by mogul Tom Ricketts will buy the team for something near $900 million dollars.

The story (albeit brief) from the Trib here .

More from the Chicago Sun-Times here .

We don't really know much about the "Ricketts Family" other than they are part of an investment group who apparently have a lot of money. The Cubs, who have struggled this season, according to several "Baseball Insiders" have been reluctant to make a move that would add salary to the team until they were sold. Though this deal is not final, do not be surprised if they become players as Baseball's trading deadline nears.
