You have to be impressed with Boise State. When ever Fresno State had a big play, the Broncos got one too. You saw a team that is the dominating force in the Western Athletic Conference. Boise State had outstanding skill players, size on the line and speed. The Broncos showed that the big win over Oregon was no fluke.
"Give Boise (State) credit. They are a heck of a team." Fresno State head coach Pat Hill said. "They have been dominating this league for years and the played very well tonight. They have some magic going on right now. They made big plays when they needed to. Avery is a fast guy, but so is Ryan Mathews. There was a lot of speed on the field tonight."
Fresno State is talented as well. Had the Bulldogs not spotted Boise State a 24-3 lead midway through the 2nd quarter this could have been a classic.
Ryan Matthews can go the distance any time he carries the ball for the Bulldogs. Matthews broke off touchdown runs of 69, 60 and 68 yards while gaining 238 yards for the night. It helped Matthews that Fresno State's offensive line was damn good run blocking Friday night.
"I give all the credit to my linemen, they played their butts off." Matthews said. "All I do is run, they're in the trenches working their butts off just trying to get me to the holes." Not to worry Fresno State fans, you are going bowling but the WAC title is not in the cards.
Boise State is poised to run the table and then force the BCS committee to make some tough decisions.
An October 14th game at Tulsa appears to be the one tough game remaining for Boise State. You just know that if the Broncos lose that game they will take a free fall down the polls. As of right now the Broncos are a top 10 team and to stay there, all Boise State has to do is win.
