Call off the Dogs

Sometimes a blowout is a blowout. Somewhere along the line though, coaches usually "Call off the Dogs". Usually when the game is out of hand and there is no chance of the other team catching up.

Down in good 'ol F.L.A. last Friday, that kind of didn't happen. Chaminade-Madonna High School kind of beat up on Pompano Beach H.S., the final score....83-0.

Rivals.com has the story here .

Needless to say, if you read the story, you can kind of empathize a bit with the Pompano Beach Coach and A.D. Chaminade Coach Tim Tyrrell tried to sound sympathetic "We did not go into the game looking to score that many points,'' he said, "and a lot of them came in bunches and off big plays.

"We only had one real drive; the rest came on short fields."

Sorry coach, we don't really buy into that a whole lot. Tyrrell did say that he pulled his starters after a 42 point 2nd quarter. All good, but supposedly, the Florida State High School Association has some rules to keep this from happening.

Unfortunately, it will happen again. It does happen from time to time at the High School level, some teams are just that much better than there opponents. In a way, it is kind of like, say...the University of Florida playing Charleston Southern to open there season....just sayin'.
