Redskins offend more than just fans...

The ongoing battle between a group of American Indians and the Washington Redskins is finally going to reach the Supreme Court. The Indians have gone after the Redskins trademark saying that it and the term "Redskin" is derogatory towards Indians. The case isn't new, it has been around for a few years now. A U.S Court of Appeals in fact rejected the claim, but it was because paperwork was not filed in a timely manner for the case. The groups lawyers appealed to have the case heard at the Supreme Court...and now it apparently will.

We don't know if or how far this case will actually get with the "Highest Court" in the land. But, the fact that they are willing to listen is at least...interesting. The Football team has enough issues on the field already, losing resoundingly to the New York Giants in the season opener. It will be kind of fun to keep tabs on this and see if this kind of "Piles on".
