The Dirty Dozen and Bottom of the Barrel...Judgement Week!

Well...last week wasn't a whole lot of fun. Most of the games weren't of major interest and though there were a few surprises and some drama, it mostly involved teams who won't be a part of this list when it is all said and done.

This week, we go deeper into conference play and things should start taking shape for the stretch run. On that note, without much fanfare...away we go!

In this clip...we see the Major trying to go Incognito (no, not Richie), apt for Florida; don't you think?

On that note (say it in Casey Kasem voice!)..."It's on with the Countdown":

The Dirty Dozen:

1) Florida 4-0 (Yes, this is probably "Final Exam" week. They actually play a good team and may or may not have "The Tebow" available. Of course, the Urbanator probably wasn't thrilled when CBS decided to make the game a "Prime Time" game either. This Week: (With Tebow...Florida 27, LSU 26...Without him...LSU 23, Florida 21)

2) Texas 4-0 (Time for them to "Wait in the Wings". We guess Colt McCoy is over the Swine Flu, the Blue Flu, the Flue de lisle or whatever it was that he had. This Week: Texas 34, Colorado 17)

3) Alabama 4-0 (Is it just me or have they been awfully quiet these past couple of weeks? It makes me nervous when Satan...or his team doesn't have much to say. This Week: Alabama 31, Ole Miss 24)

4) LSU 5-0 (What a crazy 4th Quarter with Georgia...eh? They proved a few things, though the offense is still a bit questionable. I'm looking forward to watching them and Florida play in front of 92,000 screaming Cajuns at night in the real "Death Valley". This Week: See #1 Florida)

5) Boise State 5-0 (Did they have a letdown or is UC Davis fairly good? My money goes on the latter. Everyone still sees them as the "BCS Buster" and it certainly looks that way, but they need to make sure to take care of business. This Week (Oct 14th) Boise St. 38, Tulsa 27)

6) Cincinnati 5-0 (They didn't exactly dispose of the "Other" Miami quickly either. But in the conference they are in, things set up nicely. Wouldn't it be ironic that they run the table now that I have opened OSG HQ Midwest in Cincy? This Week: Off until Oct 15th)

7) Virginia Tech 4-1 (Yeah, they get to stay here for now. I'm still not impressed, but they are taking care of business. Again, they are taking advantage of the fact that ACC Football by and large is, well...awful. This Week: Va.Tech 21, Boston College 12)

8) TCU 5-0 (Hello potential BCS Buster. The catch is...they still have to get by BYU, in Provo to prove they belong. No guarantees there. This Week: TCU 34, Air Force 20)

9) Ohio State 4-1 (As I have stated every week, I don't think they are all that good. Yes, they took care of Indiana...they should have. I'm just not sold on them being legit (or 2 Legit...because then they'd have to quit, much like MC Hammer). However a good test awaits. This Week: Ohio St. 27, Wisconsin 21)

10) Southern Cal 4-1 (They also have not impressed thus far. They did take care of a highly over rated (as we said in this column) Cal. team. Having a week off will help and there is enough talent here for them to take care of the rest of the PAC 10. This Week: BYE WEEK)

11) Auburn 5-0 (Yeah...I said it. No doubt that Brother Jon's TBH will be very happy about this. She should be, they have earned it. I doubted the Chizik...and perhaps I was wrong. How can you bet against a Gus Malzahn coached offense anyway? This Week: Auburn 31, Arkansas 27)

12) Kansas 4-0 (Give Mangino the Hut credit, his teams are now pretty decent every year. This squad falls into that grouping. Yes, I know Todd Reising is an 8th year senior, but he's not the 1st to ever be that. This Week: Kansas 34, Iowa St. 10)

The Bottom of the Barrel:

We regret to inform you that Virginia won a game last week. We have railed incessantly about the crappiness of there play...and coaching...but much like Washington State, they get a reprieve...at least until they fall back to the bottom.

On with the Countdown:

5) Washington State 1-4 (They are in danger of falling back to there honorary place of standing if they repeat performances like last week vs. Oregon. How does Paul Wulff keep his job? We don't know...maybe they are OK with Suckage in Pullman? This Week: Arizona St. 35, Wash St. 16)
4) Rice 0-5 (How do the Patties keep up this fall from grace? Well...they never were in Grace...unless that was someone on the roster...or a cheerleader. Anyway, not much hope for...well much of anything here. This Week: Navy 34, Rice 6)

3) New Mexico 0-5 (The Fighting Mike Locksley's...(yeah...I went there) are well, bottom of the barrel bad. It appears that Locksley has more success getting in trouble than actually winning games...of the Football variety. This Week: Wyoming 28, New Mexico 16)

2) Bald State 0-5 (Yeah, its been a bad week for Ball State...and its most famous alum. Not much excitement around campus these days, though it is fall and fall is awfully nice in that part of the world. So you've got that to look forward to. This Week: Temple 16, Bald State 14)

1) Western Kentucky 0-5 (They are just being outclassed...or is it outgunned right now? They are making a pretty strong arguement to be...well...left behind. Yeah that's right, maybe if they repeat a grade they can be bigger and stronger...or at least older than everyone else. This Week: FIU 7, WKU 3)

Last Weeks Totals:10-5...again...not so hot//Season Total: 43-18

I think that Alabama is the most underrated team in the country. I dont hear much about them, but I think they are the best team so far, and if Tebow doesnt come back healthy for a few weeks, they definitely have the inside track.
