Georgia High School Stops Religious Messages During Football Games

((HT: WAGA-TV/Atlanta))

We all know how important football is to a lot of people in this here country of ours...

And, in a lot of parts of the country, there is an important correlation to religion and the strength those kinds of messages give on a Friday night.

One school in northwest Georgia had messages on the banners that players ran through. Those messages have a history dating back to September 11, 2001. But when a local parent raised a concern about having those kinds of messages on public display leading to a possible lawsuit, the school superintendent asked the cheerleading squad to cease and desist.

Needless to say that a lot of parents were less than pleased over what they thought was a squelching of freedom of speech issues.

Darryl Carver of WAGA-TV in Atlanta has the scene setter...

Fox5's Justin Gray handled the nightside angle of the story wrapped around the football game...

Having consulted with people really plugged in to the whole human resources angle of the story, LFO was breaking the law with the message on the sign...as the ADL maintained in the Justin Gray piece

Not that those of us at OSG HQ have an issue with any kind of religious statement of any kind to show an individual's thoughts on what's going on in the world today...

But you saw for yourself what happened when people took it upon themselves to show their individuality. Like the cheerleader said at the end of the package, instead of the statement being up for 15 seconds, it's up for the whole game...

And the LFO faithful still got their message across...
There's always a way...
