Gundy's Sphincter gets Tighter

All of us who have followed Sports on both a professional and fan level are aware that Coaches can be...shall we say..."Odd, sometimes paranoid" people. Such is the case it seems with perennial OSG Favorite, Oklahoma State Coach Mike Gundy "He's a man damnit!".

As we inch towards the opening weekend of the College Football season, he has basically tried to put his team in seclusion. Media...of any kind was banned from practice for roughly 12 days. Gundy tried to explain his logic as "Too many repetitive questions", "The kids needed a break". While I get the repetitive questions thing, dude, don't put it back on "Protecting the players".

Anyway, his explanation to the Tulsa World here .

Now comes word that he apparently is fearful of having his team shake hands with their opening game opponents, the Georgia Bulldogs. The American Football Coaches Association has encouraged teams to shake hands with their opponents before kicking off their games. Mind you it's not required, just encouraged. Gundy however is fearful that "He is torn over doing it" "He is fearful that it could start a brawl". It sounds to us like, he's being...say it...PARANOID.

The story from NewsOK.com here .

Granted, the fighting Gundy's have had a pretty bad week. After getting grief over the Media Ban, it got worse when starting Tight End Jamal Mosley left the team for personal reasons earlier this week. And as an added bonus, starting Cornerback Parrish Cox was arrested for driving with a suspended license late last week.

It sounds an awful lot like the Gundy's are "Feeling the pressure" of being a "Media Darling", a trendy pick to run the table and make the BCS. While they are a very talented team, you don't want your Sphincter's to be that tight going into game 1, it could make for a really, really stressful and tough season.

I found this bit on the You Tube, the fine folks at National Lampoon having a little fun with Gundy's famous rant. Perhaps they are right, he may need some Zoloft. Enjoy the video:
