Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling says he has "some interest" in running for the Massachusetts Senate seat vacated by the death of Democrat Edward M. Kennedy.
In a statement posted Wednesday on his blog, http://38pitches.weei.com, Schilling said that while his family and gaming company 38 Studios are priorities, he does have some interest in a campaign.
He says that being said, getting from where he is to where he would have to be as a candidate, "many, many things would have to align themselves."
Schilling lives in suburban Boston and is a registered independent, but has been a longtime Republican supporter. He campaigned for President George W. Bush in 2004 and Sen. John McCain in 2008.
Schilling wrapped up his thought with:
"I am not going to comment further on the matter since at this point it would be speculation on top of speculation."
Which, specifically, is what the rest of us are doing right this very second...
