Pastrana Sets World Record For Rally Car Jump

((HT: Red Bull/ESPN))

Yes, the HQ knows this was a blatant publicity stunt for one of its athletes that they sponsor on a yearly basis...

But this was still pretty damn cool...

Travis Pastrana had a task last night- to set a new world record for longest jump handling a rally car.

What's a rally car,...??? In this case, it's a hollowed-out Subaru...

Pastrana got his car up to 92 miles per hour, hit the ramp in Long Beach and tried to land on a stationary barge in Rainbow Harbor. One problem... if he's too much out of control, he could end up in the water off to the side, or if he's too far gone- he blows past the safety barrier and ends up in the water,...

He did have a scuba suit with him in the car, but here's the end result...

269 feet... not bad in a hollowed out Subaru...
