You may not know who Georgeann Wells is or aware that she made basketball history back on December 21, 1984.
Wells, who is 6'7" and played for West Virginia, did what was considered the moon landing in women's college basketball, she dunked the ball. About a hundred people witnessed that event in a small armory in Charleston, West Virginia. It was believed no visual evidence existed.
Some 25 years later, video of that historic event has been unearthed. Here's the story from Reed Albergotti and WSJ.com and the dunk itself.
Note the reaction of the West Virginia bench itself. That was impressive...
