Michelle Spence-Jones is one of the swing votes for approval of the financing plan on the new Marlins Stadium that is set to be built on the site of the old Orange Bowl property.
The District 5 rep is calling for employment of local residents for up to 50-percent of the construction, using local unions for the work force, giving preference to local businesses for construction, the establishment of a trust fund for baseball fields for local kids and matching programs, and implementation of stiff financial penalties if these demands are not met after she signs off on the deal.
Yep... that's what we thought, too...
