According to WHAS-TV in Louisville and 840WHAS-AM, Billy Gillispie will not return as the head Men's Basketball Coach at the University of Kentucky...
Here's a screen cap from the WHAS-TV 11:00 News...
((HT: aseaofblue.com))
WHAS-TV then removed the link to their Breaking News alert from their website...
Took them about a half-hour...
But, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader ((currently kentucky.com)), UK assistant coach Tracy Webster was seen packing up his stuff and leaving Craft Center Thursday afternoon.
UPDATE: WHAS-TV finagled the semantics of the situation... saying "he will not be coach next year."
Remember, there's a little issue of the $6-million on the table in Gillispie's contract if he is "fired." Those of us at OSG HQ will wager that there's a number AD Mitch Barnhart and Gillispie's representatives will approach somewhere in the middle between zero and six-million.
UK Sports Information released the following statement around 9:30 after WHAS, initially, went with the whole "firing" scenario":
“UK men’s basketball coach Billy Gillispie has not been fired. There have been no meetings between Gillispie and UK officials today and there is no scheduled press conference for tomorrow.”
Reading between the lines 101:
Gillispie has not been fired...((Translation: He's not returning as head coach))
No meetings between Gillispie and UK officials...
((Translation: That doesn't mean our lawyers haven't talked...))
There is no scheduled press conference...((Translation: We're getting some sleep first, and we'll give you an hour's notice before we hold a presser...))
More when we know more...

The only unusual thing that I noticed from the TV screen was that no specifics were provided and Gillispie was wearing a red polo (A&M colors) instead of Kentucky blue (wouldn't they show a recent picture?).
